>baritone guitars are lower than regular guitars >regular guitars start on E2 Trained tenors can sing E2 so maybe a baritone guitar should go down to B2? And if baritone guitars are actually baritone, then why a guitar higher than regular guitar is called tenor and not contralto?
brazilian gig bags are even worse. they are just garbage button-ups. cheap ass junk
Ethan Nguyen
How the hell do some guys pick so fast? How do I do it?
Jack Perez
>Acoustic fret buzz help
I’m getting fret buzz only on low e string when fretting 3. The buzz itself is coming from the second fret, I can tell as if I fret both two and three at the same time it completely stops.
What might be causing this? I think adding relief to the truss rod might help but it’s a pain as no other strings have issues.
Ayden Sanders
If you mean flat picking that’s not my forte. Fingerstyle, I got fast by focusing on one pattern until I got good. Fast fingerpicking is kind of my schtick now.
Charles Taylor
>What might be causing this? neck could be warped if this is a new occurrence on an old guitar
It buzzes on the part of the string that isn't vibrating a note? Could be the nut
Brazilian gig bags are awesome I bought one from my luthier's brand
Brayden Williams
Shit. It started after the guitar slipped when propped up against a table and landed on the neck. I just don’t know why nothing else is affected, even on the same string literally every other fret is perfect and intonation great.
Sebastian Gonzalez
Do you think it's better to learn by trying to figure out songs by ear or buying some TrueFire lessons?
Bit of a coin toss to be honest, it could go either way. Action quite high by choice so can take a bit tightening.
I texted my guitar tech/luthier and got this mad rambling bullshit back about the sky, guy is a genius but unfortunately also completely insane. It didn’t land on the string side btw.
I know. It’s a shame but it’s also kinda funny sometimes, the guy has had a difficult life and he latched onto all this conspiracy stuff. Used to be some kind of specialist electrical engineer before becoming a luthier.
Christopher Price
Then why did you decide for one side instead of trying both
He said something worth considering, string or saddle might have got bent when it feel to the ground. That would explain the buzz moving when you tune up
>trying both I read you’re supposed to let it settle overnight whenever adjusting truss rod on acoustic and to only ever do small adjustments at a time.
I’ll try changing the string, no harm in that, the fact that it moves up with the fret is the weird part.
Sebastian Bailey
lmao sam i think a special someone wants your attention
Mason Ortiz
Hey /gg/, let's post about music Share some cool licks for people here to learn
Juan Long
/gg/ stands and has always stood for gear general, if you want to post about your shitty playing then go start your own thread and get 20 replies. this general is for shitposting
Michael Cruz
Bullshit
This is a fun & shitposting general. If you want to learn go to YouTube
Jeremiah Taylor
Why you fa/gg/ots gotta be like this It used to be fun and interactive here, shitposting isn't the only way to have a good time
Aiden Barnes
youtube.com/watch?v=z29basl7Lcs for some reason my turbo retard ass can only play that opening riff if I start with an upwards pick stroke
Ian Mitchell
>Fret buzz / redpill guitar tech
What do you know, he was right, new string fixed it. Thank fuck it was something cheap and easy.
Hudson Hernandez
yo straight up Scurrilous is one of my favorite albums, good post But I've never learned anything from it, guess it's time
Daniel Cook
How do I learn guitar as quickly as possible in 1 month?
You have to remember that string winds flatten as they make contact with frets repeatedly.
Levi Long
Dont laugh at me!
Liam Davis
Is that your excuse for your pee pee being so thin?
Nathan Walker
Paid Skype lessons with ME
Luke Richardson
Aye I must have done something to flatten the string there, only had them on a week and a half too but been playing a lot in prep for a gig. My friend was also playing my guitar for a few hours, possible he had capo too tight (Shubb style).
Maybe it's because the string fucking fell against the ground you retard
Michael Mitchell
Nice Try amigo
Andrew Campbell
Reminding me that I suck ass at alternate picking anything fast and need to finally learn it after all these years lol I've got the riff immediately playing legato but have to go slow as fuck to play it the right way
It didn’t, the guitar landed on the underside of the neck (i.e. where your palm sits) as I explained. Whatever, it’s fixed, I’m happy.
Gavin Perez
Pignose
James Murphy
you, me, and everyone else that I can only start up an up stroke is proof that my alternate picking sucks dick
youtube.com/watch?v=rhMfz4HrcEA bloodmeat is a lot of fun too - some neat tapping riffs I still can't play that fast noodly bit toward the end and I suspect I will never be able to
Grayson Green
Should I go through the trouble to learn the bass?
I'm 23 and I've never learned an instrument. I've tried guitar but my hands were too autistic. I want to at least be as skilled enough to gig, not be Victor Wooten or anything but enough to where people are like "Yeah he sounds great".
post yourself playing c'est la vie then you stinking piece of shit
Samuel Carter
sure not everyone, but we're talking about shred alternate picking, not just the regular shit. Never heard your bluesboy butt play anything shreddy
Grayson Reyes
You want to just be able to gig or people to go "wow he sounds great"?
Jack Long
That's because I never wanted to
Is that some french pop from the 1800s? Lmao
Josiah Nguyen
While we're on the topic of Protest the Hero, here's Skies. youtube.com/watch?v=LQltatiFkSE Not asking anyone to play it. I just really like the song and I think it's underappreciated by fans.
>the newfag finally learned about images on an imageboard IQ: sub 80. easily
Jayden Hill
Yes, playing fast just takes the discipline of daily, focused practice. I once made a move into learning to shred and I learned to run diatonic scales with a mix of legato and picking, but didn't go past that because I didn't take the time.
Subtle pic
What did you say about me, little bitch?
Ethan Lee
Bass is easy to pick up and hard to master. Sounding good could be a matter of months/year though, so why not. Buy yourself a cheap squier or something.
Landon Russell
>he can't afford a Gibson, the only guitar which is good enough, because he spent all of his money on a CB-6000
Why did you delete this post? You scared or something lol.
Elijah Brown
You should see the fretwork on it, somehow it's even worse than what you'd normally expect from a soulless mass produced Fender cookie cutter guitar. There's an user who posts a close up of the frets in the fretbaord with gaps around the ends
Friendly reminder that you will be happier as a person if you get professional help for your mental health. You cant make it as a guitarist with mental disease. Ask Syd Barret
Jonathan Young
I've been posting for 4.5 hours now and only when jcum arrived I got banned. What a jealous faggot.
I start at 9am when I get to the shop and I end at 11pm. Retard you can't even tell good lies.
Hi ant
Aaron Powell
Im fairly certain it was you getting bullied last night jcope.
Adam White
>You cant make it as a guitarist with mental disease. Bullshit
He doesn't know it because **he wasn't here**
Jaxson Diaz
>1:04 it never gets old don't be that way jroachy, you wanted an identity in /gg/ and you got the one you earned. it's too late to cry about it now
>thinkging /gg/ is technically informed enough to take this bait *tisk*tisk*tisk*
Daniel Turner
No, i just looked it up, i guess phantom destroys ribbon mics. It was a $1500 mic. My friend told me phantom helps the mids but hes a retard aparently!
Jace Lewis
Start arp with up pick? Pls respond..
James Bailey
All this fucking gear...tons of amps, guitars, pedals etc...
Yet nothing beats the tone of a Les Paul through a cranked Marshall.
How much kaka should i put in papa? A dean through a marshall sounds better. Fender through marshall is second best. Prs third.
Owen Ortiz
for me it's an ESP Snapper and a hughes and kettner triamp turned halfway up with a seymour duncan 805 OD in front.
Leo Carter
My sweetwater rep cslled me yesterday to ask about my monitors. I told him to email me when he has the new dk24 hh charvels in. Im excited boys. But honestly the neck wasnt mind blowing. Prefer my dean modern c
Andrew Jackson
awww look everybody he wants attention
Dylan Rivera
Sounds classy. It's nice to see young folks can still have taste without being brandwhores for old standards.
William Sanders
Cope
Brandon Foster
lol look everybody he wants to give (you)s now. lets see how many he's willing to give out
Asher Anderson
Lol
Depends on the arpeggio
A Condor through an Alien sounds better imo
Thomas Clark
>Look everybody!
>He wants attention
Lol go read Freud
Ian Russell
Condor: At Least We Aren’t Dean!
Jace Long
>He couldn't afford an ESP, the only guitar that's more than good enough, because he spent all his money on interior design magazines
I'm putting something together right now. I've only got about 8 pieces in my "Cocktail" music repertoire and even then it's not memorized so I'll be reading the music as I play to remind me where to go. Wedding ceremony repertoire is all I have converted to memory, that's only about 10 songs and of those only 5 or so get used at a time. Currently working on Tommy Emmanuel's Blue Moon arrangement, probably be the only one from him I play unless something else speaks to me.
Have any other music to suggest, that comes in a collection preferably($), that's similar in nature?
Carter Perez
Just like your average gibson lol
And remember when PRS relesaed a line of 2 piece guitars and boomers lapped it up?
Connor Price
Better than 3 piece neck. But don't tell Jcum
William Stewart
And who am I? Lmao
Eli Gonzalez
Eucalyptus is full of pitch
Christian Butler
Except 1/3 of a Gibson isn’t made out of plastic lmfao
Yeah it's just the fretboard because you can't afford an all-plastic guitar
A quality 3 piece neck sustains better and has more tone than a traditional one piece neck. Acoustic builders have known this for ages and multi-piece necks with reinforcing strips are pretty normal on high end acoustics.
However, it's not a magic bullet. An example can be found in cheaper korean guitars. They have 3 piece necks, but they're made of scrap maple so they're no better than a decent one piece. It's just the only way they could get a stable neck out of literal scrap wood and blanks rejected for use for one piece necks.
No shit dumbass i dont have a neck through. My dean custom 550 is neck through. My mia stratocaster is bolt on and my dean thoroughbred deluxe is 3e piece mahogany set neck.
Michael Reed
It’s not. Also, thanks for showing us how crooked the fret markers are again HAHAHAHAHAHAH
(preferrably fingerstyle arrangments, never was impressed with plectrum derived solo Jazz arrangements, Chord/melody, since the voice leading doesn't exist properly due to a picks limitations)
They did a really good job ripping off people who already made rip offs.
Aaron Sanders
Omg not a single post is serious
This is the worst general on the entire website
Kayden Wood
sounds bad
Owen Williams
Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy
Christopher Hill
There's only one original strat.
It's not the best guitar on earth but hell if people don't love making direct rip offs of it with no changes or improvements
Hudson Williams
youtube.com/watch?v=MV4dPdrIedI Where is David Russell looking? The myth of looking at the Fretboard being bad arose because impatient students wouldn't stop to look up at the music. We(classical players) almost always look at the fretboard while playing unless there's music in front of us. Why would it be bad to look at the fretboard if there's nothing else that required our attention?
It's true. Not one of my genuine questions were answered seriously. It feels like there's a handful of bored trouble makers attempting to sabotage the board and diminish its quality.
A strat is a thousand years old instrument with a magnet and wires
Jaxon Ross
This is bait. Classical players can't play without looking at the sheet.
Luis Reed
Why you can't figure it by ear?
What are your questions
Juan Lewis
We memorize pieces when we recite them. We're not looking at sheet music while performing. Figure what out by ear? It was a broad question, the specific example I gave is material I've already learned.
Ethan Anderson
Is it that hard to find music that you'd like to learn?
Asher Edwards
Buddy, get a Music Man. They are the best bang for your buck, all American make guitar. Very underrated.
It's difficult to find arrangements or pieces that meet my unreasonably high standards(admitted). I like maybe 5% of all arrangements done for the guitar meet what I'm looking for. Usually the kicker is how closely related the arrangement is to the original work. I need to just do my own, but that required motivation.
Mason Morris
Oh god, that headstock is even worse. I think the other guy is right. It has to say Fender on the headstock
lmao try not to seethe any harder on your way out there
Kayden Cruz
Almost done learning the minor pentatonic and want to go straight to natural minor after that, am I going to miss out on anything by not learning the patterns as the major scale? Strictly playing extreme metal
Justin Thomas
>extreme metal Lmfao whats that supposed to be destroyer 666 babby first edgy band?
Cooper Phillips
>mfw I have cover acts
Isaac Green
Why doesn't anyone use the whammy bar anymore? It's a great tool to express yourself
Eli Bell
Wasn't Jcum permabanned?
Henry Ward
What good is permabanning in the age of phones and dynamic IPs
Connor Morris
Because it's current year
Nathaniel Thomas
That was sam.
Ryan Murphy
But I don't even see mods banning him to evade
Angel Anderson
i think so, looking for something semi-clean that i can throw pedals at
Stockholm death metal, black metal, death/thrash, also some crusty d-beat
Jose Butler
Lol triads
Kayden Johnson
about Ohms: I read in an article that you can use an amplifier output that has a lower ohm rating than your cab (I've looked into getting a Randall 100 that has 8ohm but not 16ohm output, my cab has 16). anybody have experience with this? the article: guitartricks.com/blog/Understanding-Guitar-Amp-Watts-Ohms-and-Speaker-Wiring
Alternate picking, metronomes, 3 note per string scale patterns across the neck, legato exercises. Practice practice practice, I spent the last year neglecting this side of things and regret it.
Gabriel Taylor
Part of me reverts to my old school positions, but I’ve began relying on intervals more, viewing the neck as a more horizontally structured instrument, finding it hard tho, singing intervals as I play scale exercises helps
