Kind of, but nonetheless the album unironically does happen to insist upon itself though.

Tool fans like to masquerade the album & its sound as if it's this deep, utterly complex masterpiece, they could've done a whole lot better. Pretty much a long-awaited comeback album that essentially meanders throughout its 90-min runtime & turned out to be much more ostentatious & surface-level than their fans give it credit for.

because Justin Chancellor joined the band, then the rest of the band started getting all Joe Rogan-tier

that said Lateralus is a masterpiece though

Lateralus is great, but that's because it has a lot of good music on it. This new album is missing music or songs.

It does have songs though.

It's basically seven tracks of the entire band collectively shoving their heads up their asses, just to see how far they would go.

Yeah, that's not music.

I like everything except 7empest so far

This album was a true disappointment. One good track in the entire album. The rest are predictable, uninspired, and straight up boring to listen to.

How do you fuck up this badly?

Descending was good enough to enjoy, 7empest was almost good. Everything else was just too phoned-in and brought nothing new to the table, almost like it was another band trying to copy the sounds of Tool but without having any real substance.

I prefer FI to Tempest but this is pretty accurate.

Most people name their fans after themselves. But Tool did the opposite. You really have to be a tool to think their new release is a "masterpiece".
