Few records are quite as good at crafting an intricate and detailed sonic landscape than this one. It's an endlessly explorable album - Everything about it is perfect from the nearly-tangible textures to the unusual but catchy melodic structures to the enigmatic lyrics to the acrobatic vocal performances.
There's just a lot to examine with Flourish // Perish, and it's a project that manages to be adventurous and unique without becoming so focused on being 'experimental' that it gets to be too overwhelming or annoying.
A lot is going on here, and all of it is good. Every artistic decision that went into this record is deliberate, risky and pays off.

I like the cover art, I'll have to check it out
This album is very emotionally evocative, the mood switches from peaceful bliss to chaotic metal riffs, to somber ambiance it uses a variety of interesting instruments,Toby's voice is incredibly versatile
It is what it is.
Highway to Hell has no bad songs on it and features the most catchy songs AC/DC wrote. Albums with no bad songs are pretty rare.
I haven't heard this, but I did enjoy Deep in the Iris a lot. I'll make sure to give this a listen when I can.
Thanks, user. I will check this out.
My fav album is pic related. I know it's a really basic album here on Yea Forums but I haven't heard any album that has this emotional intensity. Also the flow of this album is awesome, it's like a fucking movie.
its just so beautiful. the build-ups and climaxes and come-downs are so amazing. its intensely emotional yet everything is controlled perfectly and everything has a place. everything is weeping together. not to mention the lyrics are just gorgeous:
"But you are safe now and effortlessly breathing
Where new weather will fall on you
Your fears break like waves
Foaming into themselves
Disappearing into the sea"
Based. I've been getting into this album lately and it's fucking awesome. The vocals are really beautiful at some points.
This thing came from nowhere.
The artist who made it disappeared without a trace, so it feels like this album fell from Heaven directly into my lap, and I'm thankful for it. It sounds like it came from another planet. It's by far one of the most vibrant and colorful pieces of music I've ever heard.
According to the guy who made it, Shadowdog is the amalgamation of 5 long years of hard work, and it definitely sounds like it. The record consists almost entirely of thousands upon thousands of mangled samples, mashed and squashed on top of one another and fired at the listener in a rapid and tireless fashion. The vocals are barely audible but when you tune in to hear them just right, they tie everything together perfectly.
Every single sound compliments another beautifully and the album refuses to let down until it's over. I've heard it about 50 times and I've noticed something new in the mix every single time.
I can't imagine what the project file must've looked like. It's truly impressive.

I loved this album when I first heard it and it’s still great today. There’s not a single dud on here. The lyrics are some of the personal and brutal I’ve ever heard. Ever person I’ve ever shared this album with has also fallen in love with it. It’s been my favorite album for 20 years
I've been getting into emo, any other recs like this?

I am not the one you replied to, but if you liked Mineral you could try Diary by Sunny Day Real State or The End of the Ring Wars by The Appleseed Cast. Also if you haven't checked it out already, listened to the other Mineral record The Power of Failing.
This is a fantastic concept album, about a journey from the bright surface of the ocean, to its pitch black depths. The lyrics, guitars and songwriting are great, and I think they really capture this "oceanic" aesthetic.
Thanks anons.
>t.
A slightly more refined Boatman's Call but sobering up and trying to improve his shitty life. Every song has the same kind of lyricism Cave's known for but the more intricate instrumentals and solos from the Bad Seeds (especially Warren) are some of the most lush and epic they've ever made.

Their first album is simultaneously both an Animal Collective ripoff and also better than anything Animal Collective has ever done.
looks like fukin dream theatre album art
This album genuinely blows my mind every time I listen to it. I’ve never heard any album that can paint pictures in my mind nearly as vividly as this does. I could write books filled with stories based on shit I’ve thought of while listening to this. It’s so mysterious and abstract that a lot of the emotion is hidden, but once you find it, it hits you like a fucking truck. It’s probably the closest any album has ever come to making me cry. Every song is so fucking beautiful in its own unique way. It all feels so overwhelmingly vast and alien yet somehow also incredibly raw and personal. I don’t think perfect albums exist, and this certainly isn’t perfect, but if somehow they actually did exist and someday I came across a perfect album, it still wouldn’t be as good as this one. I don’t even know how that would work, but this is the kind of album that can make you say that kind of dumb pretentious shit that doesn’t even make sense with absolute certainty.
i cant quite describe why, any anons want to help me out ?
Rollerskate Skinny is known for having Kevin Shields' brother in it, but from what I can tell he wasn't actually involved with this album. This has an incredibly dense soundscape, with multiple colors of guitar that are beautiful or screaming or both at any given time. Beyond the guitars are lush layers of instrumentation that are very subtle, but when you listen you can hear the pianos, the marimba, xylophone, glockenspiel, timpani, all on top of your standard rock band instruments. The vocals are simple and effective, not that the singers aren't skilled. And each song is unique and carefully crafted, none of them sound similar while the album still clearly has a cohesive and recognizable sound. It's amazing to me that this band and this album aren't more acclaimed.
no
thanks for the rec, this is perfect for my mood tonight.
AnCo ; Campfire Songs
I think this album is full of natural energy, and captures a certain feeling that I find very immersive and almost nostalgic. It functions and moves like a living organism and feels like they cultivated the melodies and their guitar textures through feeling and emotional/musical communication. Each member has a great ear for harmony/melody too, so they all compliment that natural feeling.
Beautiful, intense and raw.
Story, politics, production, Mason's drumming
Great fucking album, the songwriting is so tight- they really redeemed themselves after the abrupt shift from sludge-core to the Helio/Anthropocentric sound. I listened to it nonstop when it came out, seeing it done live was awesome as well.
I do remember one thing. It took hours and hours but, by the time I was done with it, I was so involved, I didn't know what to think. I carried it around with me for days and days, playing little games like not looking at it for a whole day and then, looking at it to see if I still liked it. I did
I repeat myself when under stress
I repeat myself when under stress
I repeat myself when under stress
I repeat myself when under stress
I repeat
The more I look at it, the more I like it. I do think it's good. The fact is, no matter how closely I study it, no matter how I take it apart, no matter how I break it down, it remains consistent. I wish you were here to see it. I like it.
I like the new version they're playing live nowadays, but nothing beats Belew's delivery.
It's a soul-cleansing experience. The first half is an unrelenting Swans-like torrent of misery, culminating in '(I Saw You) Shine', a horrifying 8-minute epic consisting of one man in broken,
heroin-addled relationship pleading with his partner slowly getting drowned out by a crescendo.
The second half begins with the primitive 'Way of the World', tacit acceptance, before 'Life' brings him out of his depression and the album closes with three snotty punk songs, the last one being the transcendental 'Sex Bomb.' Safe in the knowledge that, even though he will never find true happiness or meaning, he can at least sometimes achieve temporary bliss through drugs and sex, and comes to terms with this being enough.
The guitar is played by a traumatized Vietnam Veteran and sounds like a jungle being napalmed and crushed underneath tank treads. The drumming is masterful and more echoey than any I've ever heard. It manages to develop songs while creating tension due to the feeling as though they are SIMULTANEOUSLY FALLING APART AS THEY DEVELOP. The bass-lines are catchy and so heavily distorted as to barely be audible without good speakers. The lyrics are delivered with more passion than anything else I've heard.
It's the sonic equivalent of a painful massage that leaves you feeling newly born the next day.
It's like if PIL stopped being pretentious cunts and had fun for once. Also, Nick Cave and Rowland S. Howard.
I agree, love the album.
The Movie is also fucking amazing. Its pretentious, its artsy, its completely off the wall nuts and thats why I love it. Also holy hell Bob Geldofs version of In The Flesh and Waiting For The Worms are amazing performances.
holy shit i didn't think i'd ever meet another Braids fan. This is my #1 album as well and i agree it's perfect. The album manages to feel thematic and cohesive while maintaining a unique sound in each track. you can feel the pain and somberness, shit is so crazy it's transcendental. Also just a perfectly fitting cover. if you haven't heard Raph's side project Blue Hawaii check it out.
Soothing, peaceful music. Eases the soul.
they could make a fucking movie about the narrative this album presents. never have I seen a story told so well in a single album
>The album manages to feel thematic and cohesive while maintaining a unique sound in each track.
This, I think one of the ways Braids managed to accomplish this was by not only developing the album sonically but visually as well. The album cover fits the music perfectly (as does the inlay), and even the outfits they chose to wear (as well as the locations they chose) for press photos during this period all fit within a certain specific visual language they've constructed around this album.
Flourish // Perish was one of the first albums to point out just how important and influential the visual aspect can be to the music it accompanies.
Everything is just so well-thought-out.
The alternate covers are really nice.
Describe why you like a specific piece of art FOR YOU???
I don't want to sound like an asshole but I'm SO sorry user...
I've got several albums to choose from but I'll go with picrelated for the sake of originality. Other honorable mentions would've been Somewhere in the Between by Streetlight Manifesto, If You're Feeling Sinister by Belle and Sebastian and Young Blindness by The Murlocs.
The reason I went with picrelated was 'cause it's very immersive and atmospheric. Something about its riffs and melodies that makes me just want to listen to it on repeat (something I haven't done in months tho) and just lay there with my eyes closed. The opener's good, but it's the last bits of the album that make me re-listen again and again. One of my dad's friends (who's a producer) told me the music was good but that he hated the vocals.
In terms of genres, I'd say the album's space rock, so if you're into that sort of stuff, give them a spin. The band's an absolute hidden gem and I really hope someone notices them sooner than later.

Re-release or OG?
Mesmerizing and psychedelic urban grooves that just go on forever, brilliant lyrics, fantastic old school slightly lo fi recording that lends a warmth to the whole thing, and not a single weak moment for the entire hour.
It's the best album ever. It's utterly gorgeous. It's elaborate, complex and, at the same time, completely straightforward and simple in its appeal. It can bring the serious music fan to unmatched heights of ecstasy, while still being perfectly accessible to the casual listener, inviting them in to enjoy what might be the longest, most involved listening experience they've had. The themes are transcendent, cosmic, and eternal. It's earnestly, unambiguously positive and beautiful and makes no attempt to hide its direct, positive intent behind artsy pretenses of aloofness. It's ambitious and completely delivers on all that it attempts. It's the peak of multiple genres. It offers a completely unique experience from any other album and yet feels totally natural, homey, rustic, and organic.
I feel a bit silly coming on Yea Forums and saying that a Lacuna Coil record is my all time favorite but it just is. Heard it at the right time as a teenager and it just blew the doors wide open for me in a lot of respects. I attribute my appreciation for many genres in general to this album, from dream pop to doom metal to goth rock to even shoegaze, it more or less firmly established my taste in music and was the first time I really thought "yeah, THIS is for me". Add to that some extremely tasteful production, rock solid songwriting throughout and lovely, dreamlike atmospheres and you had one mindblown kid. High praise for what basically amounts to a slightly Cocteau Twins-ier take on Draconian Times but hey, whatever works I guess. I can't even say I have a favorite song on it, like half the album is my favorite song. Only band I can think of with an album that's even threatened to dethrone it is Katatonia, and to be fair Brave Murder Day does sit at a pretty close second place for me. But yeah, it's really endured over the years for me, can't even say I'm super nostalgic since I still adore it in its own right even over a decade after first listening to it.
There's something to be said about the cultural significance and the detailed soundscape that embodies Untrue. Even though this album came out right around or just before the EDM boom, this album acts like a eulogy for rave culture and dance music. It's haunting. In a way, the tracks feel tied to a time of raving that it tries to emulate but knows it can't be. It blends a supernatural mysticism with dull modernity with song titles juxtaposing each other like "Archangel" and "In McDonalds" or songs that combine these ideas in titles like "Ghost Hardware". It's like this album is playing in an abandoned warehouse that once hosted underground raves decades ago.
But I think my favorite song is "Raver" because not only is it a song you can dance to, but there's something about the how Burial messes with the vocal sample. When the vocals say "Dream Life", it sounds like the word "life" is distorted in a way that it sounds like the word "lie". Now when it comes to dance music, the shows with DJs, ravers, production value, etc. seem to be so blissful and yet the shows can feel so fleeting. One moment your dancing to this amazing song you've never heard and will only hear that night and the next moment your at home or getting food at a nearby 7-Eleven. I think, Burial's distortion of the phrase "Dream Life" is purposeful in showing that the dream life ravers go to look for is really a dream lie. The shows ravers go to is a constant chase towards something that is never permanent.
tl;dr: It's a haunting album with rich production and has greater meaning if you care about the history and evolution of dance music.
>"braids"
Wait... is this the band that threw a fit over TC Electronic making a signature pedal called the Pussy Melter for a satire hair-metal band? That'll be a YIKES and grosspilled from me. Not OK. Cancel Braids.
I'm not a hardcore Bad Seeds fan but this is my favorite from the ones I have heard and Oh My Lord is my favorite song from them.

losers like you devalue the meaning of words like sexism. Get lost
transcendentally beautiful unique melodies, fantastic progression.
I constantly find myself lost in this album and it's the only one to consistently give me goosebumps every single listen. It's fantastic. The feeling of soft, wavey open sea, further enhanced by the soundscape it uses. I can recite every lyric as it plays but forget everything once it's over. I prefer it that way. It helps keep the album fresh in my mind after all these years, I still dont even know for sure if it's a concept album; I just keep getting myself lost in the dreamy atmosphere and beautiful melody. It boggles my mind how this thing can sound so good but also so unique, so individual. It forever stands out in my mind.
Every single time, without fail, my loss of conscious thought bursts to the surface during the climax of Even Fantastica; when the lyrics are what I can only presume are referencing the wonderful but quaint life of heaven - being able to look back on all your memories in perfect detail, good and bad, but at the end of the day, just opting to enjoy the time you have now. It's - as I said at the start of this post - truly a transcendental feeling every listen. The bursts of sound during the climaxes of these tracks are consistently amazing, and Even Fantastica portrays it best. Thankfully there's only 2 tracks after that one and they're both very mercifully relaxing and mellow; a perfect end to a perfect album.
i love it
also this, for similar reasons funnily enough. The childhood spent watching malcolm in the middle with 2 brothers helps a lot tho lol

Good thread
Hi Braids. Your music sucks and you should be banned for making this shill thread. Would you say it was a good or bad move to permanently associate your band with moronic outrage culture?

by "get mad at said person," do you mean breach their accounts, storm everything vaguely related to their music, and even sell t-shirts and posters about this person?
totally not an overreaction at all.

1.) you're justifying the harassment of people who express their disapproval of being belittled and marginalized, which is counterproductive
2.) are all steel panther fans this obnoxious? i have yet to meet a level-headed, reasonable one.
1) You're justifying the policing of the activities of private individuals by an irrational hate mob guided by an ideology literally created in order to bring chaos to society with the ultimate aim of causing total break down of order
2) I don't listen to hair metal or comedy bands
3) Jokes are not hurting you or me
4) I'm an exotic marginalized POC so if you're a privileged whiteoid you can sit down and shut your mouth and listen to what I have to say as a superior beautiful POC

>FUCK YOU STUPID BITCH MAKE ME A SAMMICH LMAO DUDE CHILL ITS JUST A JOKE HAHA
um, i like this album because of the textures...
>actually offended by a pedal being named "pussy melter"
Stop conflating a bunch of made up shit with what you're actually talking about. The pedal was a joke, an EXTREMELY mild one, and not even in any way offensive. "This pedal sexually arouses women" - how is that offensive? How is it so offensive that it justifies an outrage mob and a petition to the company to STOP THIS EVIL CRIME RIGHT NOW?
>1) You're justifying the policing of the activities of private individuals by an irrational hate mob guided by an ideology literally created in order to bring chaos to society with the ultimate aim of causing total break down of order
i'm defending people's right to protest. whether or not the manufacturer of the pussy melter decides to comply is up to them.
it's telling that you're mad at one member of braids for merely signing a petition and sending a tweet and not and tc electronics for bowing to the 'outrage culture' you seem to hate so much, and it's especially telling that you're defending the hundreds of people who openly harassed a her just for exercising her right to express her disapproval of a product and the toxic culture to which it's deliberately geared.
>2) I don't listen to hair metal or comedy bands
fine, whatever
>3) Jokes are not hurting you or me
the "it's just a joke" defense, again
>4) I'm an exotic marginalized POC so if you're a privileged whiteoid you can sit down and shut your mouth and listen to what I have to say as a superior beautiful POC
you don't know who i am. i could be a dog that learned to type for all you know.
>you don't know who i am.
>priviledged cis-hetero whiteoid slave owner hides behind computer while he hurls abuse at marginalized PoCs who are just trying to help him be a better person
Typical.
>the "it's just a joke" defense
Yes. It is. And that's a legitimate defense. No one should have been offended by it. see >i'm defending people's right to protest.
Good. People who are not hormonally deranged also have the right to protest against an irrational outrage mob trying to police harmless actions by the rest of soceity.
there goes the thread
>i'm defending people's right to protest.
Who said Braided-tampon doesn't have the right to protest? No one. People said she's a hysterical idiot to have done so. And that's true. Rights don't have anything to do with it.
I feel genuinely bad for OP
Can you (me included) fucking clowns stop? This doesn't have anything to do with music. Everyone's wrong.
>Yes. It is. And that's a legitimate defense. No one should have been offended by it. see
you don't get to dictate what people should and shouldn't be offended by. srry.
>People who are not hormonally deranged also have the right to protest against an irrational outrage mob trying to police harmless actions by the rest of soceity.
harassment != protest
fine. whatever. i'll drop this, it was a year ago and i don't care anymore.
(but i'm right tho)
Have you made a post that was relevant to the original topic of the thread already?
Literally can't put my finger on it. Something about No More Stories just makes me keep coming back, over and over again.
I don't know why I like this album. I think it's just instinctual.
So this over Frengers? Also, how did you find out about Mew?
Curious because I had never heard about them until I went to, like, a ZZ Top concert this summer and a person I met there told me they liked them.
Who's presuming to dictate some kind of normative standard of offense? Certainly not me. I'm positing the thesis that being offended by a pedal called "pussy melter" is idiotic. If you disagree with this thesis, explain how naming a pedal "this pedal causes women to be sexually aroused" is offensive.
blessed thread
Thet seem like SJW assholes but the album is good so far. Good recomendation OP
OP im so sorry your thread got derailed, it was a really good one. thanks for showing me that album and many more
Why argue with the regressive left?
They're not gonna change their fucked ideology and there's nothing you can gain from a conversation with someone who's a part of that movement. Please. Stop.
Post an album you like
shut the fuck up you retard juice intubated cocksucker
>I realize that I'm backed into a corner and will have to admit that I'm wrong if I continue this conversation so I will only make insults form this point forward, just watch me
I have literally no stake in any of this
I want you and whatever other shitgobbler you're having a slapfight with to shut the fuck up and stop shitting the thread.
Holy shit it was a year ago, get over it. And if you are going to get mad, you should get mad at TC for willingly discontinuing the product rather than Braids for suggesting they think the product should be discontinued. It's not like petitions are law.
The Pussy Melter is back anyway, so it's not even like you lost anything.
shut the fuck up
I am disappointed in TC certainly. Doesn't make braided tampon's behavior any less idiotic. And I'll bring it up every time I see this band mentioned anywhere because they deserve it.
>braided tampon's

I am a synesthete and it tastes good.
tirestires actually posts here sometimes, you can catch him once every now and again. he's pretty chill. always evades the question, "why did you delete everything?"
also, the lyrics on this thing are really bizarre.
Huge bummer Deep Running didnt make it on the album cuz i want it on streaming so bad
It's a very interesting take on trap album. The beats and synthesised vocals work together incresibly well. Lyrics are funny and and Elder Scrolls references make it staple for the community. It's a lightweight, chilly album to brighten up your day
I read this in Patrick Bateman's voice
>Focuses more on individual songs then the overall feeling and replayability of the album.
Found the underage faggot
I love you user. Thanks a lot. Didn't have to lift a finger for it.
You know there are a lot of things I love about this album. On the surface level, this is the most aesthetically pleasing and creative art Rock album I've heard. The rhythm guitar playing, song writing and drumming are all great. Thematically, this album is very interesting. TVC15 is a bizarre story about a TV a woman crawling into a TV - this is gonna be an odd comparison, but it's reminiscent of a Junji Ito story.
It's also filled with occult symbolism. (the name of the album, Station to Station is even a reference to the Kabbalah) Which I enjoy quite a bit honestly.
Its classic electronic. Daft Punk can sample like no other, while some might hate that, I love that they took something old and made it new again. Every song is perfect to my ears. While it might not be exploratory or avant garde like RAM its just great fucking music and its enjoyable front to back.

This choice is probably a bit cliche, but it's cliche for a reason.
On The Run might not be great, and Any Colour You Like isn't amazing either, but other than that all the songs are essentially gold. Breathe, Time and Us & Them are just ethereal, absolutely amazing songs. The Great Gig In The Sky is wonderful. Money is a banger. And Brain Damage/Eclipse is the perfect closer.
All the songs flow into each other with no gaps in a really satisfying and immersive way, save Great Gig In The Sky/Money, and all lyrical songs are connected by the theme of sadness and insanity.
"The Dark Side of the Moon" symbolized the dark side of the human mind and the human condition, and the album ends with the chilling remark, "There is no dark side of the moon really, in fact it's all dark."
No that was Japanese breakfast
Oh apparently it was braids too. But yeah no need to keep posting about it. Especially when the pedal and is not sexist or anything like it
>Any Colour You Like isn't amazing either
Yup, you check out as someone who'd have DSotM as their favourite record.
I totally get why people love this album, but I think dubstep/bass fans will appreciate his original self-titled Burial more. The composition might not be as lavish and emotive, but he really shows that he can do dark, heavy, sad, scary, and pretty all at the same time with this one
>On the run not great
>Any Colour isn't amazing
>Money is a banger
>banger
I had the same opinion 12 years ago. You must be 18 to post here.
Chill thread OP, minus the small derail.
> creates 3 of the greatest prog songs in history
> has the greatest improv song of all time
> creates one of the most beatifull and frantic songs off all time, and a perfect ending to a band (fuck off discipline)
> combines all their previous styles into one coherent album
Yeah I'm thinking it's a 10
yea who fucking cares about the SONGS (music) in an ALBUM. ITS ALL ABOUT THE VIBE AND THE REPLAYABILITY. is u for real? is u for real? fuck you are stupid
Loved how the songs sync between them. Usually, an album has some songs that are not so great as others but this one has something to take from every track. Absolute favorite is floating through a frozen atlantis.
yike
Its a really great album no doubt, and hell sometimes I'm even doubted to say its one of or perhaps the best album ever, but it's not even the best Pink Floyd album. People that name DSotM as their favourite records are normally dumbfucks that haven't even listened to their entire discography and probably only ever listened to the album high as a kite.
Best album is animals btw and if you disagree you should tie a rope to a giant pig balloon and a noose with the other end, slip your neck into it and release the balloon

I've listened to it about 400 times and I want to listen to it again
and I just stumbled across it for the first time like week before last
You'd have been almost as descriptive if you'd just said "it's my favorite because it's good."
Honestly a based rating system
>there's got to be something more to life
>than laying in the front yard naked, screaming at the constellations
First album that brought me to tears. I was walking home and suddenly started crying like a baby. I don't know. Probably it's the most Russian thing I've ever heard so my soul cracked open. It's full of freedom and desire of freedom not only from society and politics but from time and space. It's freedom to be nothing I guess to ba a ghost but Russian speaking ghost. Also it would be hard to get without knowing Russian language.
well, fuck, I guess I have to go become fluent in russian real quick before this thread drops off the board so I can meaningfully reply to this post
oh hey guys
You don't have to. I just shared some culturally unique thing that can make you remember who you really are. What's in your DNA, lol, code of your life. Somehow every song from it tells something new to different part of my soul.
New Model by Perturbator.
My favorite record changes quite often, so basically it's a matter of favorites, but at the moment this is the album I craved the most recently, Uncanny Valley and Songs for The Deaf being close 2nds just cuz I either didn't listen to them entirely or because there was a track I thought was unoriginal.
New Model is the latest reinvention of Perturbator's sound. I feel he is starting to become more complex, dark, and adventurous, and it really shows on the New Model. Every piece on there is like a surreal cyberpunk trip into the diverse world of music, and the album being almost entirely instrumental definitely helps. Every track on here is memorable and crafted meticulously, without getting over-the-top. Honestly, I have so many aspects of this album I could praise that this post wouldn't end, so I will end my post there.
TL; DR New Model is one of darksynth's newest and most adventurous albums, yet again by the genre's pioneer and main boundary-pusher, Perturbator.
A few years ago i passed by Marika playing alone on stage in the dark at a music festival, to maybe 30 people sitting on benches.
I was having troubles with my girlfriend, we'd been away from each-other and just started dating again.
We sat down and just listened. The combination of calm melancholy and the comfort of falling in love again puts this album in a very special place for me.
I know that's a rather personal reason, but music is by definition a personal experience and the circumstances around the music will always play a part in the full picture.
'We Slept At Last' is a very warm and comforting album, It's simple in its premise and structure, but does exactly what it needs to do.
If you want to have a taste of what the album is like, listen to Claude's Girl. If you like it, find someone you hold dear and just sit together and listen. I promise you won't regret it.
Now this, is truly the most beautiful Yea Forums sight I ever witnessed.
This is the epitome of hardcore music geeks discussing the music they love, in a open-minded, constructive way, all willing to listen to each other's opinions and trying out the music of each other
This is how I love it. It's literally sending wet tears to my face. I love you all. We can all be proud. God bless music and the people of Yea Forums.
God I want to cry.
Real hard.

Found the album after hearing a song in American dad, fell in love with cannibal summer. The while album is just beautiful to me start to finish.

IN PERFECT RUSSIAN
Rush-Hemispheres
It's just a catchy thrill ride filled with powerful uplifting spirits. It's an album that is short, and it's a good thing. It's really complex but really catchy. It was what inspired me to pick up an instrument and search for those two other guys to play music the way we like it.
Well shit
my good comrade
just go to russia
what kind of wacky thread is this anyhow

the instrumentals are weird, unique, and chill, but the voice is unsettling af
i listen to it every day
The Suburbs is a brilliant record because I have yet to hear a lot of rock records capable of influencing the listener's emotional state as drastically as this one. It's a thoroughly beautiful and sentimental record with no bad songs whatsoever.
There's also the fact that The Suburbs seems to age like wine as you grow with it and project more and more memories onto it. I was a young teenager when it was released and I listened to it non-stop for years. Nowadays, listening to this album is like opening a portal to a decade ago and peering through; its power only gets stronger with time.
Arcade Fire, at peak, is amazing at building a song up to a point of emotional intensity that could make anyone cry.
I like to pretend that this was the last Arcade Fire album. I like to pretend they broke up sometime around 2012.
You have heard his other stuff right? Because it looks like you haven't.
You said basically nothing about the substantive qualities of the music
You know, I really have no confidence in my ability to convey just WHY I love this album so much, but I'll give it a try anyway.
cLOUDDEAD - s/t is such a great experience overall, and really the first album I ever truly loved. The amount of short musical jingles in this 74 minute experience that could be made into a great song on their own, but are only dwelt upon for mere seconds is astonishing. As an example, the beginning to the starting track, Apt A., has this dreamlike jingle to start off that sold me immediately, and it only lasts 57 seconds. The lyrics on this album aren't to be slept on either; I know every song off this album beat for beat, perhaps solely due to how distinct they all are - some of these bars are just insane, both for their content and their execution. Where else but here could you make a thing like a story about jumping off a building in a spacesuit sound good? I'm usually a stickler for lyrics actually having to make sense, but here, the way it's pulled off is just so great I don't even care. In fact, the nonsensical nature of the lyrics adds to the off-kilter feel of the lyrics in a way that perhaps lyrics with understandable stories could. This album is an experience - I hate to use that term for how overused it's become with mediocre albums, but cLOUDDEAD's s/t fits the bill. If you've somehow missed this album up until this point, I cannot recommend this enough
