yeah, ok fag

there is no purpose for music critique and review in the modern age. music is essentially free, new releases get put on youtube, Spotify, torrent sites, etc. everybody is able to listen to new music and form their own opinion without having to worry about wasting money.

fucking rapist cunt

Hello incel-child. Allow me to explain: The value of art depends on the values of the art critic.
Most art is born as imitation, not innovation.
The critic, not the artist, is the one who defines innovation, and rates it.
The artist is merely a vehicle for the aesthetic/ideology of the critic.
The critic is the real artist.

Yeah dude, and like, this SOCIETY that we live in is the real art.

Still.

I'm genuinely recommending that you have sex as soon as convenient

I've had sex, it didn't change my mind.

>all this made up bullshit

you're like a religious fanatic

there's too much music for any normal person to ever hope to contextualize. The purpose of a critic isn't primarily to tell you whether or not something is worth money, but how it fits into the larger body of music.

you will note i am not arguing the point

Hi ideologically opposed to critics and reviewers, I'm dad!

Maybe not now that the internet exists and you can listen to whatever the fuck you want without issue, but at some point they were nice to have around to avoid getting excited over shit like In the Hot Seat or Love Beach by ELP.

If you listen to any album, then you're paying an opportunity cost with time that could be dedicated to something productive or to any of the other millions of albums in existence.

There is value and pedagogical opportunities in every album, not just "good" ones. people who see media as valuable only if it fits their definition of "good" are autistic robots

Proper critical appraisal from a seasoned professional is still more valuable than your shitbox opinion that you came up with after one listen on Spotify. Criticism is still a major influential force in the market, that can be good or bad depending on the substance of the critique. And real substantive criticism can be interesting to read especially when the critic knows their shit - if you don't enjoy reading criticism or find nothing of value in it, fine, but don't kid yourself like you know better.
