I really like the sequencer on the monologue. It's been a really nice change of pace from the minilogue's sequencer which feels kinda clunky

Yeah get a fucking laptop and act like you've got some fucking sense.
get vcv rack it's a free software synth, you can learn all about what all the little acronyms like VCO, VCA, LFO, HP, LP, SAW, SQ, SIN all mean and what they sound like added and multiplied together. then you may have enough knowledge to make a decision on a hardware synth (you don't need one though, most edm since the late 90s has been made on computers and really analog is just a novelty/creative tool these days).

i wouldn't go that far, they still have some uses, eg using the whole dynamic range, overdriving circuits to produce interesting sounds. also for collecting and learning electronics, also it's fun to have a dedicated device. limitations can be good for creativity. also there are barriers with a computer a lot more set up and configuration is needed and there is nothing more simple than just powering on a device and playing. but yeah you can do everything on computer and learning about synthesis and music is better this way imo.

They start at E becausd thats how mos guitar basses are tuned and its a bass synth. As a former bass player I loved it.
Its a good deal, go for it. Its fun, solid and sounds good. The filter BTFOs the one in the korgs mini/monologue and you can do lots of crazy shit with it.

Not the first time they "discontinue" it, but pretty shure if there is a next batch it will literally fall to pieces in less than a year. The last one (the ones that came in the silver box) had the some of worst build quality Korg has ever put out.
They'll probably lower the price of the Microkorg S and see if they can sell at least a couple
