>moves up the black people
i completely expected this
>Whodini better than Mercyful Fate
lol suck my fat dick
Rolling Stone's list that was posted here the other day is like a combination of both these with like four shitty boomer albums thrown in.
social justice is a cult
No. 198 is pretty based atleast. after having that album for years i always thought the cover art was a bee coming out of an explosion. A skeleton man? Wtf mercyful fate are some tricky gents
It's fine.
>completely removes the police albums
i see what going on here
>removes elvis costello get happy because he said the n word a year after it released
For a list that decided to focus on "diversity" the top 10 is surprisingly legit desu
>completely removes both Mekons albums and all three Fall albums (expect one, which is severely dropped)
>removes meat puppets up on the sun
>revising the list to put michael jackson and prince above remain in light
i am lmaoing right now pitchfork is rolling stone tier at this point if you still give a fuck about their opinions you are full boomer
Roxy Music Avalon is 111
Explain a foreigner from a third world country why Jane Jackson is treated with so much reverence in the USA
She is the non musician sister of Michael Jackson, and had/has a very small and weak voice. the other brothers from Jackson 5 are probably more talented.
Sade and Prince are the only blacks that deserve being in the top 50
>removes King Crimson
Why?
>Drops PiL from top 20 to below 100
Why?
Fela Kuti, Bob Marley, and King Sunny Ade could be in the top 50, but aren't
Dont know King Sunny Ade but agree on Fela Kuti and Bob Marley.
>completely removes both Gang of Four albums.
>Swordfishtrombones, which was at 11, is now below 200 apparently
>Every album that has been removed is by a straight white male
For years I snatched up a ton of albums from the new list on cassette tape without knowing that Pitchfork canonized them so I'm okay with this list actually
>no autotune trap
Why is Wh*tefork so out of touch?
The 2nd list is 10x better. The first one is shit, too much generic indie trash like Pixies, REM and Sonic Youth.
fuggin BASED
surprisingly good list. especially from 200-150
Yeah, I agree. The new list is generally much more varied. There's some dumbass decisions - like The Fall & King Crimson & Elvis getting cut, but overall it's a better balanced list.
Lot of shit should be much higher (Flipper, Tom Tom Club, LiLiPUT, Daniel Johnston, Whitney Houston, Metallica, Bruce, Neil Young, Graceland) & there's some obvious shit that's missing for some dumb reason (swordfishtronbones, Lou Reed, Siouxie)
Also I love Leonard Cohen, but holy shit I'm Your Man shouldn't be in any top list ever.
what was on the list that wasnt before? how do you know? did you write stuff down andcompare both lists one album at a time and mark the ones that were there before then not there or something??
do you know how to read?
They had the Raincoats and Fela which made me happy. No Swans, which is a tragedy. I don't remember whether they had Chameleons, Prefab Sprout or The Waterboys either, which are some of my favorite bands from the era.
My main problem with the new list is that music made by African-Americans somehow gets recognized as "better" for reasons that aren't thoroughly expressed, and it comes off as making retributions for something that quite frankly doesn't need them. Which in itself is racist.
Also, the Cocteau Twins and Talk Talk should have albums in the top 10. And Public Enemy Album is 10xxxx better than the NWA album and I'm a west coast guy.
>Not one Rush album
how retarded are they?
2/10, learn subtlety and improve your prose.
condé nast can lick my ass
Pitchfork has been moving away from their rock heritage for quite some time. It's not a surprise anymore.
Eh, Moving Pictures is the only one I'd consider a candidate.
They should stop reviewing rock music then
Ok
Siouxsie is on there
Fucking white boys on Yea Forums think whiney indiepop is better then Prince or MJ
Thank god they're going behind a paywall
