The 80's came back, stuck around for way too long, and is leaving all their shitty pastel colors and overdone gated reverb thrown around before they walk out the door. Maybe some of the mid-decade edgy-ness in anything would be nice. But you're right, the decade kind of sucked as a whole and really only goes from about 2002-2008 stylistically. It doesn't help that the Internet's more or less destroyed any cohesive idea of what the last two decades were as a whole since everyone can easily have a different concept of what this decade was outside of some incredibly broad strokes.

Fashion trends right now have already made their way up to the late 90's/early 2000's, edgethots and rappers that wear band shirts are basically channeling Hot Topic mallgoth shit and emo stuff tends to get lumped in with that a lot. I can foresee it going on for a while until kids born between 2005-2010 find something new to reassess. My prediction is skater fashion is next in line which i'm still surprised hasn't come back in full force yet (all we really got is generic slacker style rather than guys in plaid and chunky DC shoes, and footwear is probably gonna be an important part of it since kids are gonna need to find something new to wear when dad shoes become played out). I think the direction pop music has been going in the last few years is pretty promising, and I'm kind of glad we're seeing the death of the traditional male/female pop star seeing how bad Katy Perry is doing and how Taylor isn't making as much of a splash as she used to. I think it's gonna be a great decade.
