I love dis shit lol
Jason Falkner - author unknown is fantastic.
he's worked with r Stevie Moore, Ariel pink, and Daniel Johnson so he's got the underground cred, but this album is slick power pop all the way.
Watershed popped up on RYM when I was searching for Wire, so I've listened to them. Couldn't find their first album to download though but their second album was really good.
Wow great stuff. Looked into him and he was also a member of The Three O'Clock and Jellyfish
Gonna contribute a few songs here

Game Theory has always been my go-to for power pop. Pic related is definitely their best imo (I think it's most others' favorite too) but all their albums are great. Even the one that was put together from the snippits and recordings that the lead singer left after he died was pretty great.
This thread is the first time I've ever seen Velvet Crush posted here by someone other than me. Teenage Symphonies To God is a 10/10 album. It was released on Creation in the UK as a direct trade for releasing TFC Grand Prix in the US which makes perfect sense.
Short-lived Falkner/Manning project

Quite liked the Roger Manning Jnr solo record

I was listening to Season Cycle by XTC recently, Jellyfish owed more than a little of their sound to it. I don't know why I'd never noticed before.

Velvet Crush do a great cover of Elevator Operator on that record.

They always do well with Gene Clark covers though

Obscure(ish) cut incoming: The Argument/Speak my mind.

Velvet Crush are great. Had no idea about the Creation records thing, but it does make sense about the Grand Prix thing, another great record

This sounds great, nice rec, thanks.

Yes please
I forgot Icecream Hands. How.
If anyone here has listened to Solex, she was the singer of what, for some of the songs on their album at least, I'd categorize as power pop. This is my favorite song off the album.
I wouldn't consider this powerpop, but you might like Bis or other 90's indie bands of the same ilk.
