>shitty metal band lumped in with -core genres
Another one for the trash heap

When did the idea that Goth and Emo aren't Punk come from? Both of them came from Punk Genres and their Fashion evolved from Punk bands of the 70's

What do you think about Full of Hell?

Album of the Eon

People who really don't know about their common ancestor.

What do you think about Internal Rot?

Cause nobody knows what Emotional Hardcore or Fugazi are

Grindcore was a mistake

What do you think about Drab Majesty?

youtube.com/watch?v=vzWSB15ThHI

How did emo get so shitty after the '90s? I know that people blame that Jimmy Eat World album, but can a single album ruin a genre as badly as emo in the '00s?

Gatekeeping, and ignorance. Goth is post-punk, and emo is melodic hardcore

Mark Hoppus is the best

Attached: 74CQriX2_400x400.png (400x400, 291K)

Fucking hate this jimmy eat world blame. Blame blink 182 and taking back sunday. Jew is based as fuck and has nothing to do with mallcore

The Middle is quintessential mallcore whether you like it or not

Is pre-00s emo really melodic hardcore? Sunny Day Real Estate, Cap'n Jazz, Rites of Spring, Portraits of Past, Moss Icon, Mineral, Penfold, Saetia, One Last Wish, I Hate Myself, Lync, The Van Pelt, etc. are not all Melodic Hardcore.

Punk is an attitude and not about music. Most Punk artists fall under categories of Garage Rock, Power Pop, Glam Rock, Hard Rock and so on and so forth. Punk is a state of mind and rebellion against the normalities in the world. The same way Morrison was Punk, Schnittke was punk and Hawkwind was Punk. Also, The Sex Pistols is shit music, fake stance boyband trash sellout junkie garbage, and The Clash and Crass are both better.

'90s The Offspring > '90s Green Day > '90s Blink-182

Cool story, bro.

The only reason emo is related to goth/punk is in appearances only, and even then no 80s goth would be caught dead wearing most emo clothing. There was a distinct 10 year gap between goths & emo called the 1990s

Emo has been around since the '80s, though.

Sorry I should have put post hardcore since you wana get technical.

Thanks, wanna circle-jerk Lennon or Clairo now or something?

Melodic Post-Hardcore works for me. I hate having to hide my taste for emo, because while I enjoy Emo, Emocore, Emoviolence, Midwest Emo, Screamo, etc. I can't stand the pop punk and emo pop shit which are the face of the genre to the normies offline.

I want to circle jerk to Downy.

Yea, I just say I listen to punk and leave it at that. I don't care if I trigger black flag fans

What's the difference between Alt Rock and Punk really
What makes say Nirvana or Smashing Pumpkins any different from the Offspring?

All I know is they both came from husker du

my chemical romance isn't punk
leave

It's so weird to think of how many genres came from punk. Fucking new wave and synth-pop trace their origins back to punk. Tears For Fears and Napalm Death share a common ancestor. That's wild to me. I'm really also high.

Why don't punks and metalheads get along? They seem to hate each other. How far back does this feud go?

Punks and metalheads don't like each other in their own genres, let alone the people in the other genre.

Metalhead here. Not sure when it started, but it goes back at least to the early 80s. I was watching a documentary about Metallica and they were saying that people at metal clubs would shout insults at them on stage and throw chairs at them for wearing Misfits shirts and sounding too punk. Thrash was apparently "too punk" for metal fans in the early 80s.

I know pop-punk is seen as "worst" genre of the decade, but I hella enjoy PuP especially morbid stuff, which leads me to believe it's not a dead-end avenue of punk

shit vocals
gay
based

Modern punk is a joke. Everything is clean and pastel pink. The first wave of punks would be ashamed if they were still alive. Metal is heavier and uglier than ever.

How do we feel about Siouxsie & The Banshees? I'm jamming Kaleidoscope right now.

cringe man

>we
stop this pleb shit and think for yourself.
Also, The Scream is one of my GOAT albums, but I don't much care for their later work.

all u busters need to listen to hardcore and powerviolence if u want good modern "punk" music

This.

youtube.com/watch?v=yNo_cWD1Q5Y

Where do you draw the line for their "later" work? I think their last good album was Through The Looking Glass in 1987. I love everything before that album. Everything after that was garbage, except for a couple singles.

listen to Clinic

post-punk is shit
punk-ock is shit

crust or die

crust is fucking gay/boring tho

do you really think post-punk isn't boring or gay?

no it definitely is

pop punk > everything

Ramones and Bad Religion are the best punk bands

implying a direct correlation between quality and ugliness seems like a joke to me. punk was never just about that. Johnny Rotten must be the only one you know.

pup feels much more post-hardcore than pop punk to me, their songs are way too progressive and dynamic. real cool band though, one of my favorites along with Masked Intruder and The Interrupters as far as more recent punk artists go.

How about a bit of Oi?

i don't even

i think he was saying alt rock came from husker du

love me some oi

not my favorite but leagues better than most of the crap Yea Forums listens to

I've listened to a number of emo anthologies and somewhere around 2000-2001 they fall right off a cliff. I think commercial success really exaggerated the worst qualities of the genre and it spontaneously combust.

I'm not going to hate on Blink for nostalgia reason, but I completely respect anyone who does.

idk what JEW does that dozens of other emo bands don't do better.

Punk is a fashion accessory and a device to try to leverage your own moral superiority over your friends.

>idk what JEW does that dozens of other emo bands don't do better.
write songs that people actually enjoy?

fanfuckingtastic.
