these five weren’t even the best on the xxl freshman list on 2016. the freestyles felt rather phoned in. all I cared about were their personalities.

However, he featured Billie Eiish on a song of his on his Taboo album; the song in question was very political and as a result Billie's label demanded she be uncredited as not to get Kaepernick'd. Billie is a known industry plant who got signed to a major label at age 14 with almost no prior experience in music except for a song which her brother (a professional actor and musician) wrote which went viral on SoundCloud due to his industry connections. She's a dollar store Lorde with a two-octave vocal range who whisper sings over trap beats, yet got payola'd to be the biggest pop star around right now. Pathetic.

Not going to lie, I think his fans give him too much credit without realizing he's as much of a careerist as other rappers.

He only took X back as a friend when X was blowing up in the mainstream. Before then, he and X were beefing. Once X got huge Curry started talking sympathetically about him in interviews, calling him a hurt child and all that.

Taboo was a very good album, one of the best albums of 2018, but it was way too obvious he was trying to compete with other Florida rappers hence why a lot of it relied on predictable but good trap beats. Not to mention, the Clout Cobain video was very clearly his and his director's attempt at making something they knew would be super provocative. It was right after that video blew up that Curry's music and merch began being sold at Hot Topic and he gained all these new mall goth fans.

Being affiliated with Billie is a huge mistake IMHO. She's a novelty act whose fan base consists of 90% teenage white girls. Plus she isn't exactly a great artist like he is, in that she's just in it for the clout and money and not the artistry (which she's admitted herself). Curry at least strikes me as a guy who takes his art seriously even if he's only making critic bait at the moment.

32Zel/Planet Shrooms is one of my favorite albums though I will say that. Sad he'll never go back to making that kind of music again.
