metal has never sounded so corporate : )
Metal always sucked.
RATE
Slipknot > Korn > Tool
Tool>>>>Slipknot>>>>>>>Korn
True, and nu-metal is on its last breath before dying. Thank God.
Bullshit. Metal has never sounded more evil.
None of those albums are metal
humongous factoidus
Tool (FI sucked though) > SlipKnot > Korn.
Korn>Slipknot >>>>>>>>>>Shit>>>>>>Tool
Slipknot is
We are not your kind > Fear Inoculum > Nothing
Slipknot>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Korn>>>>>>>>ABSOLUTE MAMMY>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Anthony Fantano>>>>>>>>>>>Tool
if you're talking about portal, deathspell omega, hell, mizmor, dragged into sunlight etc then yeah, sure - maybe metal sounds more evil
but the days of raw rough truly evil metal that wasn't written and polished by a bunch of engineers and technicians into a likeness of "evil" are long over
all the OGs of evil metal are either dying or are too successful to be in touch with the mean streets that make mean metal
albums in OPs pic dont even come close to the running
Tool >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Slipcuck/Corn
Solway Firth alone beats the shit out of the entire Tool album
Yes Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Judas Priest were not corporate in any capacity and were super evil and scary
Here's some current, popular, entry-level metal for you kids who are curious after listening to a bit of Slipknot, Tool, Rammstein and so on:

Boohoo, recording equipment is more affordable than ever and no-one uses tapedecks anymore. You poor little lad. If you want the old-school sound, just listen to old-school records. I think it's great that non-mainstream musicians can put out well-produced albums.
B&R
Tool doesn't belong there
wasn't really talking about recording equipment, was talking more about the music scene in general & the creative missions of current metal outfits. If someone wants to record on old school equipment, they still can, nothing stopping them. The Men did a pretty good job on that. I'm more making a point about how (for the most part) metal isn't really exciting anymore.
we took music back bros!
>This shit
>Metal
HAHAHAHA
But why isn't it exciting? From a purely technical standpoint it seems to be steadily advancing, extreme metal is at the same time more popular and more extreme than ever. As fear of satanists and pagans diminishes metal still manages to shock via political controversies. It seems to me that metal has lost none of its edge.
this
Wow trash revival albums by boomers. M-Metal is b-back ! I won’t have to pretend to enjoy music made by non-whites anymore. :’(
>late gen-x'ers pretend like anything they contributed was good
truly the worst generation. should be grateful i even mentioned them by name.
All weak albums compared to their predecessors.
When a new band puts up the numbers those albums did, maybe you'll have a case.
Albums are a dead medium
If it's not on metal-archives it's not metal
I never even pretended to enjoy non-white music
WHITE PRIDE WORLD WIDE
>neckbeard archives
lol
I'm still constantly finding stuff that's exciting to me but I haven't dug that deep into most metal subgenres. Currently starting to enjoy death subgenres more than I ever have before.
I can see how it gets worn out though. I feel like I've thoroughly explored doom/sludge/stoner stuff to the point where it takes a lot to "excite" me, even though my all time classics feel as fresh as ever.
Some relatively new stuff I've found recently:

I'd argue that we're about to see a new golden age of nnu/trap-metal with the rise of people like Ghostemane, SuicideboyS and Scarlxrd. Hell, I even like them.
haha
You're right
All music that is released under a record company is corporate
That sounds terrible. Thank God it would only be a short phase and likely end hiphop for all eternity.
I'm 34. I've listened to all of the albums on the Yea Forumscore list out there and I'm re-listening to FEAR INOCOLUM for the umpteenth time (realistically, I'd say I've listened to it at least 100 times) and I just have not found that many other albums to match it artistically. It is just so inspired throughout the entire thing. It bothers me that folks would write it off as "metal" or "hard rock" and only consider it good in those categories. I've found a LOT of "metal" and "hard rock" to be very subpar and many people in those bands let the loud volume account for what they lack in talent. TOOL is unlike any other band on the planet and their scarcity, limited material and mystery make them all the more appealing to a world that gets EVERYTHING IT WANTS RIGHT NOW (DAMNIT!). TOOL fans wait and wait for more material ... and the reason why is their existing material is so amazing - especially FEAR INOCOLUM.
I know what I am saying has been said a million times before, but it just seems like everytime I read about TOOL in a major publication they write them off as a fringe band. I know MJK does not give an F about all this ... I'm just sad they don't get the respect they deserve on those best of lists. The Yea Forumscore list is filled with awesome stuff - no denying that - but FEAR INOCOLUM deserves to be on that list.
FI>AEnima=Lateralus>10K Days>Undertow
I dunno dude. Ghostemane goes hard. I've seen him before too and most of the crowd are already metalheads.
Cringe
Having just googled that guy, he does make very tolerable trap rap. I don't hear any metal though. Not even nu-metal. It's just gothic trap.
It's more or less the persona he puts on that draws people.
He also does black metal, and his newer stuff could seemingly be considered as....industria nu-trap metal?
Black metal:

Example of new shit:

i'm 35 and FI is album that shows a band that has failed not only to push their sound forward, but simultaneously failed to meaningfully recapture their earlier successes.
tool is a very particular thing, so i want exactly expecting them to pull a kid-a, but there are hints of new in here that fall flat on their face.
the old is listeless. moving from riff to riff uneasily, as a somewhat tacit acknowledgement that pulling the same tricks just doesn't cut it any more.
it's a mediocre record. one that's enough to satiate tool fans, but almost anything could satiate tool fans and the mjk cult because some of them have actually convinced themselves that puscifer actually has redeeming qualities.
Actually, watching a live recording I can see the resemblance and hear it in his voice. Given that he doesn't incorporate any musical elements of metal, I'll take him and others like him as proof of my thesis that nu-metal is on its last breath and soon dead.
Yeah, it's certainly industrial/gothic in a way. Could pave the way for a comeback of those styles of music. That black metal record sucks ass. Aesthetically (visually and musically) this conjures up ugly memories of mid 2000s emo fashio culture, metalcore, Skrillex and so on.
Nice try but white people have been over. This is just another nostalgia wave
Slipnot > Korn > Tool
what an absolute edgelord
I just cringed so hard I accidentally fucked my own face
What does metal have to do with trap?
Those are pleb tier metal and you should feel bad. Slipknot and Korn are gayer than all the dicks in your father's asshole
whatever you say you prog loser roflmao
>being this stupid
God bless ya, kiddo.
Tool is pleb too you mongoloids
Qorn had some good songs. Get over yourself.

slipknot>>>>>>>>>>>>>>korn
Way less corporate then back in the early 2000's
What did that comment have to do with me calling that idiot an idiot, YOU FUCKING RETARD?
Simmer your jimmies before your retard strength goes out of control and you PUSH YOUR FINGERS INTO YOUR EYES
"Trap is on its way out. It will die for real this time" says increasingly nervous teenager on Yea Forums
It's weird, even if trap got less popular it'd still be around. There's a shit ton of shitty local metal bands in my area.
it already is though
i hate both but country and pop are making inroads even pop groups are incorporating rock elements in it music
Meh, none of those bands interest me.
Ghostemane is trash but this post is too ironic to not make fun of
literal feces >>>>>>>>>>>>> tool > korn > slipknot
ooohhhhh, absolutely baited and reddit spacing
C'mon, dawg, you gotta go
Also, the new album was nothing particular, the album wasn't boring at all, the thing was just... fine
Jesus fucking christ what decade am I in?
This millennial cash in is so utterly stupid.
Tool>>>>Slipknot>Korn
Tool discography even though its short, is way too strong to beat for those bands.
>It's official.
