I told my boomer dad that me and my mom were making fun of his music (acdc and the Rolling Stones) and he went apeshit and left the house

lmao how embarassing. almost as bad as a boomer dad who listens to meal

why don't you love your dad?

At least your mom wasn't just repeating Yea Forums talking points like a spiteful little shit

Why do you still live at home? This is an 18+ board.

Damn man, that's harsh. AC/DC and Rolling Stones are the shit. Don't you know that all good taste starts from parental foundations? Love your papa.

Sure but he constantly makes fun of me for playing jazz (I'm a saxophonist) so I thought it was just banter.
I'm 20 and I live in California
Both terrible bands for countless reasons

Why do you feel the need to bring him down? My dad listens to the same shit but he’s a cool dude

lol

why would you do this and then make a post about this

i don't like ac/dc or the rolling stones but that's still a dick move OP

if you can't appreciate rock you're a brainlet

My dad's the kind of guy who constantly ridicules people for having different tastes and I thought it was all in fun
To see if people have had similar experiences, to blow off steam, and to piss off other boomers

oh that explains it. too sophisticated for caveman dadrock huh? pseud detected.

>Both terrible bands for countless reasons

I'm sorry, I'm not as old as your dad but I can clearly see that The Rolling Stones were absolutely revolutionary for their time. It's about context, not just musical chops. You come across as a snobby jazz elitist. And you're 20 which makes it worse because you probably think you know it all when you don't realise how immature you are.

Besides timbre rock is identical to pop and country

confirmed pseud with this post alone

you think thats bad, try telling him or any boomers iron maiden always sucked, you'll end up getting stabbed

maybe try and find some common ground and find music that you can both enjoy

There are good rock bands like Chicago and the doors but acdc and rolling Stones is just noise

We often find common ground in Latin but he still bothers me about my tastes all the time

>just banter
I was with you here, maybe dad's having a bad day and could lighten up a little.
>Both terrible bands for countless reasons
yeah I hope he throws your ass in the street.

>sweet black angel
>torn and frayed
>tumbling dice
>brown sugar
>sway
>under my thumb
>that opening to can't you hear me knocking
>mick taylor on the entirety of get yer ya-yas out
>terrible for countless reasons
please give up

Please enlighten me on how acdc is a good band
The only ones I can think of that might like is time waits for no one, Ruby Tuesday, and Angie. The rest are pretty brainless in my opinion

You do realise that many people think avant-garde jazz is just noise? Because they have no context for it or frame of reference. If you're a saxophonist, you can understand the context, the history, the important jazz players, the development of the style, the innovations etc. But the same can be said for a metal fan/musician. Neither of you are wrong.

You know when the major record labels when to India and Africa in the early 20th C the regional music sounded dreadful for them. Because they didn't understand it - it doesn't mean it was bad, because 'bad' is relative [there's badly played but that's not what I mean]. They just didn't 'get' it at all because they didn't understand it so they couldn't see its depth. The point is that you 'hear' something 'noisy' or basic with AC/DC but you're missing out on a whole lifestyle that creates it. Back In Black is one of the most important rock albums ever, and Kind of Blue is one of the most important jazz albums ever. Neither is 'better' than the other, it's about perspective.

Now when your dad comes back, apologise. And ask what you can learn from his tastes. And see what he can learn about yours. This might actually help improve your relationship.

I hope you take my post to heart, because I mean it.

Introduce your mom to /momrock/ that would be Peter Gabriel or the almighty Philip Collins.

I would slap your shit and blast ACDC if I were your dad.

You are highly cringe

California eh? Keep browsing here forever mate. You fit right in with the faggotry here

my dad has very similar tastes to me so i've never had anything like this happen before. he's not into any bad boomer shit.

I've listened to nearly every rolling Stones album and can name nearly every 60s 70s rock band on the radio because of my dad, it's just not my tastes. My dad flipped out when I started getting into jazz 2 or 3 years ago so no I've been nice enough
Too many boomers

I hate the Stones too, but denying their influence is asinine.

the decades long career providing jobs for tons of people. do you even have a job? have you ever? I live in California and every 20 year old I see is useless.

>Too many boomers

>people like old music so they must be old

I like Chopin, so maybe I should be dead.

AC/DC unironically shit. Rolling Stones > beatles

I teach saxophone for around 20 an hour
but I'm still in University
I love Chopin but most rock is no better than today's pop. Not criticizing people who like it it's just not my taste
Not a big rock fan but I completely agree

Horrible opinion. Even Paul and John solo are better than the Stones. Also disliking Bon Scott era AC/DC is pretty much the mark of a homosexual.
