I understand why the Beatles won out among the British Invasion bands but the Who certainly deserved 2nd place rather than the Rolling Stones. They had a style that influenced subsequent developments in music and didn't involve copying whatever the Beatles' last album was.

That isn’t what I meant. There were people who were arrested and charged for genuinely accessing CP but the British government did not do their due diligence like the Americans did. Landslide hosted a lot of porn sites, not just CP. It’s much more likely that he paid for some legal porn but because the British laws at the time criminalized the mere presence of his credit card on the site as “incitement” to distribute CP even if he never accessed or attempted to access CP he just agreed to a plea deal in order to avoid a trial or possible jail time.
