I was in Vietnam at the time but heard this on battery power record player that was a little slow, made song much darker. Everyday was the end then you just did not know for who. Dark days that still linger.

thanks for your service, user

I was riding to school when the original version came on the buses radio and people were stunned; they had never heard anything like it! The dj was swamped with calls and had to play it again right away!

Still remember seeing these guys live at the '73 Druggie Stink-In! What an incredible show. Frontman was obviously drunk and the drummer passed out from heat stroke midway through the set but it was still an amazing performance. What a life I've lived!

'm 59 yrs old
African American. From Chicago Illinois. Fortunately my older brother was deep.He exposed me to a lot. Santana Music takes me to a magical place.I feel like I'm between age 14 and 24.all is wonderful in my life when I was initially exposed to Carlos Santana,War,Rare Earth and Bob Marley. Brings me to years. Carlos was and will always be the sh...t..... That's slang for being Awesome !

Ahhhh, good times. I was 16 when I first heard this. It was September of '71, and I was parked in my car with my future wife gettin' busy to this masterpiece. Kids these days will never understand.

This is too accurate to be fake

I had a little girl with long blond hair, suddenly come ill with leukemia, and I was singing this as we drove to an appointment for her....She said, "Mommy, that was so beautiful...sing it again." That moment, I knew she'd soon be gone. I've always loved Leonard's music, and this was one of the reasons.

As a nearly 70 yr. old I remember my hippy days and the great music of the late 60s and 70s. But even then money was the king. Those who had the wherewithal to get a good pad, score plenty of dope, a good sounds system, and perhaps get a hippy bus etc. had a better time than the rest of us. That's the way it goes, I'm afraid!

>with profile pic of an old hippie woman
My cousin was [frontman]'s girlfriend for months. I'll always love you and miss you [frontman]

As a young child I often witnessed my mother being relentlessly beaten by my father. I can still recall hearing her muffled screams through the walls of my bedroom as I lay in bed trying to fall asleep. Some nights were worse than others, but I remember the following mornings when my grandmother would take me to school because my mother couldn’t be seen in public. She would wear sunglasses and long-sleeved shirts for weeks while the bruising and swelling slowly healed around her eyes and arms. I never understood how something as simple as an overcooked meal or a spilt glass of wine in the living room could send my father into these inexplicable fits of rage; not until this very moment. Not until I saw your presentation. You are the stain on my father's Afghan rug and I see no club soda nor salt to scrub you away. For an investment of 250,000 dollars I will retain 92% of your company with a lifetime of royalties and if you even for one second glance in Lori’s direction, I will personally crucify each of your children.

fuck off boomer

like if you're listening to this in 2019

Don't forget the like-whoring sob stories about how this was my best friend's favorite song who died of cancer.

>song is from 2016

>how DARE people enjoy music genuinely, IIII only listen to music as a fashion statement and cynically hate anyone with a genuine love and passion for music, and I HATE old people because I'm gay and my hetero dad always teased me about my limp wrist REEEEEEEEEEE I can't even right now

>>how DARE people enjoy music genuinely
t. the same hypocrite faggot who makes soijak caricatures of people enjoying things

I can't imagine seeing a problem with this. Music is set in our culture and people sharing what was going on when they experienced listening to a song for the first time or in a highlighted event of their life is just fine

Did my 1st shot in the late 60s just so I could understand the lyrics. Eventually got a tattoo of a syringe with the message that became my mantra, "Gonna Try for the Kingdom If I Can" only to discover that it was not the correct kingdom to seek at all!

I was 15 back in 78 when this song hit. We couldn´t believe such a soulful voice was coming from a white cat. It told us that anybody could have soul. This song became probably my favorite r&b song ever. Still love it, still as fresh 36 years later.

People being happy and relating happiness in events and a passion for music to the point that you nostalgically remember exactly what you were experiencing the first time you heard a song is Kryptonite to the socially mal-adjusted outcasts who generally inhabit this shit hole of the internet. The people making fun of this neither love themselves or are loved in kind by anyone.

t. old dad that never pulled back an 80
if that isnt THE kingdom I dont know what is

None of you are funny. If this was a Yea Forums thread maybe it would be funny but it's not

And you're a hypocrite for doing this but hating soijaks

It's funny imagining a boomer get onto his soap box in the comment section of a YT music video like anybody really cares about what he has to say.

love you brother

>but hating soijaks
nope. I only hate the fact that they're spammed everywhere. You're the one seething and crying about "letting people enjoy things" like an actual soifag

go back to Yea Forums and stay there faggot

>youtube video of a dadrock song
>every comment is some zoomer referencing Jojo

not that guy, but you're embarrassing yourself

You say this but I'm a 29 year old virgin and much prefer the comments of people who were there at the time to, say, some zoomer faggot Jojo moron

And by "at the time" I mean stuff from before I was born or cognizant that I lack context for (sort of like zoomers who are curious about the 90s or 00s). Not stuff from my generation so that I can go and wax with a bunch of people my own age about stuff that happened ten years ago as if it was the 60s

sure you're not samefag

>"Man modern rap sucks. I'm 14 and I only listen to the greats like Nas, 2pac, Eminem, the list goes on..."

Why are music video comments just weird?

And this is where you are are wrong.
The YT comments resonant with the intended audience of said comments. IE: Others who can directly relate to the comments being made.

tripdubs of accuracy

50 man, that was a dam good age,but i am old hippie"a long way from that age.so the ride is free,i am as old as Jim Brown, my man, old nuff to be your dad, so you are the son.dig it.but it's cool.here in the cosmos.

Back in '87 me and my ex wife went to a def leppard concert. I snuck in a cooler full of strawberry daiquiris. Those rockers were so coked out of their minds I finally understood why it was called the hysteria tour. We had front row seating and we watched them do crazy acrobatics while they wailed on the guitar.

and the poster is named Kyle or some other white kid name

>...Biggie... list possibly goes on...

there's nothing wrong with feeling nostalgic and passionate about a song. What's embarrassing is making a wall of text about it on yt as if anyone gives a single fuck about your long and uneventful story

>The virgin 2Pac
Vs.
>The chad Bone Thugs

So? You will do the same in 30 years in Car Seat Headrest videos you zoom zoom
