Is there any reason to own CDs in 2019?

not being able to download or listen to a record otherwise but being able to purchase a second hand cd

my shitty car with a lighter thing not powerful enough to power a bluetooth radio adapter+the added audio quality benefits of not using bluetooth over radio frequencies

having a car with no aux but a cd player, honestly I think CDS are a lot more justified than tapes. Some people just want something physical and tapes suck (and digitally mastered stuff on vinyl, why bother if you have a cd player)

CDs are still a good "in" for fucking a girl. Just invite her to a mckay's or whatever store that sells used shit, and just be like "if i buy this will you listen to it with me in the car." If she's even remotely in to you, she'll say yes and you're gonna be fucking.

for when the EMPs hit and you can no longer stream

There isn't an MP3 player I've like or trusted since they stopped making the classics and I don't like using my phone for music.
I got like 800 burned CDs in my car and if I scratch one, it's fine cause I can just burn another. I'd actually cry if they were stolen from me, but it'd only be a days work to reburn everything.

I wouldn't buy new, though. Might as well get the record if you want something physical, and that either comes with a download code or will be easy enough to steal.

Only advantage is runtime. I can get around 30-40min on a CD before it starts playing choppy and skippy, but I used to make these great mixes when I only had a tape player, and they were like hours long, both sides.
Had to cut them down when I burned them.

a means of directly supporting artists / having a physical back up in case of hard drive failure. otherwise, not really

has more subs and highs than a vinyl
doesn't cost fucking 100€
you can export to flac to your computer whenever you want
works in your car
takes less place in a bookshelf
