the drumming + lyrics really stand out on this album. darkside once again delivers with some incredibly technical work that carries the album from start to finish. lyrics are philosophical at times and pure brutality at others, offering insight toward the duo's ideology and contempt for modern zeitgeist.
was not a huge fan of the riffs and general tempo of some tracks, I and III in particular feel somewhat disjointed. good call on their part to preview II a few weeks ago, it definitely strikes me as the most in line with mgla's style whereas they buck some trends later and especially in V and VI.
as perhaps the only person on this board without a strong opinion one way or the other on mgla, i'd rate age of excuse on par with exercises in futility, ahead of groza, slightly behind with hearts toward none. it has its highs and lows, but i walked away feeling satisfied.
