Music recommendations

Im in love with Tool. I cant move on. Ive listened to Soen, Karnivool, and ever other band maynard has. Ive listened to volto, melvins, and peach (suns of the tundra). I just cant do it. Every thing else but tool sounds bland. I need music recommendations, anything any genera. Just need to get out of tool. new album was alright. I really like descending.

Flood by Boris?

Im going to listen to the whole album to see if I like it. Tool kinda got me into 1 hour long music sessions. so far sounds trippy. I like the guitar opening.

There is nothing else
There is only Tool

Try maudlin of the well and kayo dot(they are connected bands, same members etc). go chronological, kayos first two are masterpieces as well as motw's two sister albums. They are sonically interesting, moody and very emotional for prog metal standards. They take awhile to really dig into and "click" though. They make full album experiences best listened to all at once. Motw is pretty dramatic and awkward sometimes, but that is part of their charm tb h. Tool is my favorite band since forever, but i got straight up obsessed with motwKD as a teenager the way I was obsessed with tool.
Bath
Leaving your body map
Choirs of the eye
Dowsing anemone with copper tongue

Those are all 10/10s

Have you checked out later era Katatonia? Very dark and melodic alt metal.

The only band I've enjoyed in the same mindset as I have when listening to Tool is Swans. And they might be even better. Listen to Soundtracks for the Blind or The Seer.

Assuming your a prog fan, maybe opeth or haken

Mars Volta isn't exactly metal but their still heavy as fuck. They're also better than TOOL but that goes without saying

Also check out larks-era king crimson if you haven't already

This. If it helps, my next obsession after Tool was Pain of Salvation. They might work?

Pneuma sounds so much like it's from AT THE HEART OF WINTER by immortal. like if immortal stretched out the little atmospheric quiet parts they do and instead of the croak abbath sang more like a melodic alien.

so basically, if youre a fan of music and especially the heavy and fast stuff, you should listen to ATHOW by immortal
