congrats you are a Yea Forums blue belt

Did the guy at the counter tell you you're a faggot genre tourist?

Ok we need a belt tier list

at least I have money to buy records poorfag
Also why would a genre tourist buy a record they like? Clearly not touring

thinking about buying pic related or birth of a new day or I'll try living like this
I only got money for one of them
tough decision desu

Lol I own records myself so not a poorfag and even I can admit that they are a poor way to spend money.

I just tell myself it'll be worth it when I have physical recordings of my favorite music post-apocalypse

that better be mtm

>haha I spend money frivolously on reissues because I'm a pleben who can't find records

>wanting shitty sounding records

buy the cheaper one if you enjoy them both the same

wait what record do you mean?

ah I didn't realize I'll try living with this is the name of the record. Whichever is cheapest of the three if yo like them all the same, if you like one more than the others buy that one

white belt - Favorite albums are personal core, for me it was nirvana nevermind since its a nostalgic album for me so you already own it, likely downloaded on your phone.
yellow belt - you discover the Yea Forums chart and start seeing what you like, you go through a couple discographies but dont delve into a genre. Your favorite is likely some Yea Forumscore (for me its still itaots)
orange belt - A step up from the yellow belt, you still are spotifying all these new albums and bands discographies but you are realizing spotifys limits. You come across some albums that dont initially click so you dump them entirely and move on to something else. Your favorite album might be a Yea Forumscore artists second most acclaimed album.
green belt - Frustrated, you start using slsk and this vastly improves your musical scope, you go on rym, looking for new albums to download, or find something obscure off of a chart thread. Your favorite album is likely Yea Forumscore unless you stumbled on an obscure gem early on.
blue belt - You finally start genre diving, you find an interesting genre and you find every flowchart there for it. You feel like your taste is very vast because of all these albums you listen to that arent discussed often on Yea Forums, when in reality most of Yea Forums has heard the records you are hearing. Your favorite album is some semi obscure album that everyone has already heard.
purple belt - after going genre diving, you revisit some old albums you discarded earlier and find that they are actually quite good, now you use this as a way to go deeper into related artists discographies. Your favorite is potentially Yea Forumscore or critic core, since you used the critics as an excuse to relisten to the album.
red belt - You have a decent knowledge of many genres, but excel in one. You enjoy finding diamonds in the rough and spend a long time on the esoteric section of rym trying to find something good. Your favorite album is something weird with less than 100 rym ratings.

replace RYM on the red belt with Discogs. Discogs has a bigger catalog and more esoteric shit.

cont.
brown belt - You have listened to thousands of albums, many of which multiple times, you only go on Yea Forums to shitpost and shill some weird shit, its lonely on the top
black belt - you go back to your personal white belt shit because all music sucks and you might as well feel some nostalgia while you listen.

how the hell do you find esoteric shit on Discogs?

Sounds like hell.

Pretty sure they have a forum and you deep dive into random/obscure genre labels. Head to youtube or spotify and hope you can get a sample.

>newfags don't know how to use the "explore" function on discogs
discogs.com/search/?ev=em_rs
Filter by genre / year / whatever you want.
I prefer to filter by genre and then by newest additions for maximum treasure hunting. Best way to find stuff that's actually good is to click on whatever has a good album cover.

also this exploring labels you like is a good way to find good shit.
same goes for checking the production credits on songs you like (if they're hip hop / pop) and exploring the producer's output.

yea first thing that came to mind for me was rym cu thats what i mostly use

You'd be better off doing both.
I just found this after like 5 minutes of browsing the hip hop latest additions on Discogs and it sounds great so far open.spotify.com/album/5bD7af5hIk7E35cTrcJus0
