why should i follow the rules made by some random person i dont even know
yo!! any percussion dudes in the midwest looking for a band? Happy Medusa's 1st percussion moved away :( searching for a replacement. Fun things so far include opening for pokey lafarge, guerilla toss and hanging out with ghost mice. a bunch of touring. I miss it very much and wanting to share the experience with someone. use the contact form on bandcamp page if interested and im totally down to skype.
It is meant to work as a whole, so it's better listening to the full album
>little pop concept/opera >psychedelic inspired >peculiar female vocals >experimental and a bit weird >lots of woodwinds and mellotron sounds >old style inspired production >independent
Raw, I think that chorus could use stacks n stacks of vocals to make it hit harder. It's fun n kind of cheesy to me, but not in a bad way, it's just not for me, but I feel like a lot of people really like this, if produced better. Just a matter of continuing to do and create. maybe more compression to individual tracks to make em sound even, reverb to give space, maybe lil automations of effects or panning here and there just to add lil details whatever's fun to play around with
Smooth as shit, nice samples.
For some reason, I've always loved the sound of breakbeats but never really bother to listen to music with it. I mean, every song sounds like the same drum sample is used and manipulated super samey, so it gets generic, but man I like the energy a lot, love the hecticness. I would say same goes for this track. I think the shortness is appropriate for what it's got going on. not wearing the ears out. Not sure if I could give any helpful criticisms considering I'm not wel versed with this music. Like the icy synths that come in towards the end along with the fat n wide samples hitting on the "1 and" of the measures. I'm followin
I dig the wide variety in your own sound. Listening to the latest track, n I haven't dug too much, but it's a lot happier than your other tracks. I don't think this new one is much up my alley, but the lil percussion with the synth and whatever stringed instrument sample panned to the right doing that melody with the little run is really cool. I like how weird it gets near 4 minutes, that tweedling synth in the middle is cool as hell too. I just wished the drums, bass and instrument to the right weren't samples. It would feel much more intimate and human if you were really playing the instruments. They stick out in not much of a flattering way when in contrast to the raw guitar and vocals. Look forward to how we all improve in here, hopefully we get some dope gear on BlackFriday

So I don't leave comments and aside from me, only 8 people posted music. Please understand capslocked OP and/or clownlet. --Update-- Finished my hifi setup fairly recently. First rerecorded Dropout Journey in it, and I just finished another song in the setup, Technicians. soundcloud.com/bonbos/technicians-2 (NEW) soundcloud.com/bonbos/dropout-journey-2 >dream pop >psychedelic pop/psychedelic rock >synthpop >lofi (Cardboard Girls & Dust Storm Demos only, hifi setup complete) Instrumental is very Death Grips-esque but more bearable, kinda disappointed that the building tension through the first 35 seconds doesn't explode into more gibberish and drum freakout but SQUAREsquareSQUAREsquare is a cool sketch nonetheless. Contrasting vocal dynamic in rap always has potential to be something cool, but some of the performances on this sound a bit lifeless despite the obvious angst. That 60's guitar loop is good though. Probably one of the best hip-hop instrumentals I've heard from here. Relaxed but the vocal sample is catchy enough to keep my interest. Vocals and drums sound great, the synths aren't really my thing though and feels like a minor step down from your last singles. It's well mixed but I was bored by it, sorry. Listened to Sail Away a while back, that was a nice, varied song and actually felt like it had a reason to be 8 minutes long. Listened to ballons and stagnant pool from gathering going. Guitar is delicate at times but goes crazy moments later and back and forth, I like. The background fuzz doesn't fit that much though. Good luck finding a drummer. I'm listening to this album now, sounds like a love letter to late 60's-early 70's prog and I am 100% down with it. The female vocalist on the first track sounds really breathy at times and it doesn't sound that good. It's more tolerable on later tracks but I feel like it could've used a better take.
Thank you for the feedback. I thought, however, that among all the flaws that the singer (I) could have, breathiness was not one of them. I mean, I always try not to sound like the usual whispering female singer and to actually use the full voice, even if it could sound a little winy and weird (more like a theatrical/character style I'm thinking). But anyway, accepting the opinion!
I don't usually post here and I feel weird critiquing artists who are so much better than me. This is wonderful. Reminds of some Gentle Giant or Carmel type stuff. I love unusual sounding female singers. and her voice really resonates well.
Would rec. Reminds me of the old raw punk artists who would circulate the UK. I think the vocals could have been mixed a little better.
Sounds great. I like how you layered your snares a lot actually.
make music don't bitch about people not reccing your weak genre copy catting that you call experimental or underground to try to hide the fact it sucks balls
joining your circle jerk will only save music you don't even know what music is
Me, I'm just doing up to 15 people to make quota so OP doesn't scream at me as much.
I wish this actually did something different with the twinkly keyboards trope that keeps showing up in trap but it does the same jackshit. You had some potential to make something at least mildly cool for a song literally called clown world, you should tap into it. This is more like it. Slightly more interesting instrumentals and some vocals. Listened to tracks 2-5, that kid with the lisp has the most engaging voice, but there is consistent-enough flows and performances between all three. Oof and Meteor have the best instrumentals of the ones I listened to. I like Change and Tragic, vocals and lyrics sound funnier, instrumental has more than just the same loop going on. The singing gets a little annoying by the end of Change but it's passable all in all. I like the first instrumental, has an upbeat marching feeling, but holy shit it has a loud entrance. I'm not into Witch/Dungeonsynth at all though so maybe this is common in the genres? I don't know. Perfect blueprint to a 90's g-funk track. There also could've been a really nice bass track on this, like right after 2:24. Good otherwise. This does sound ugly, but I think it has its place, like it could fit in some futuristic western flick or something. Also, based on the rhythm at the very start of the track I was expecting some kind of change and I'm a little sad that never happened. The first five seconds of Endless Skies actually sounded like it would kind of belong in an older game and it caught my attention. But then it strayed away from that intro and became dancier and I got disappointed it didn't go further with it.
Michael Gonzalez
I didn't hear whiny or weird from that honestly, the breaths in between each verse on the first song threw me off a bit and it just drew my attention away from the rest of the song. I'm used to theatrics and over the top stuff so I don't really mind performances like that and I didn't really have a problem with the rest of the album. Speaking of which, I did end up listening to most of it while waiting for people, reminded me a lot of Moody Blues' first two prog albums, great project.
Caleb Myers
good work but if you dont post on socials you are the reason that music will die with this generation and with it the spirit, or "soul," of humanity
Joshua Bailey
Ooh, I see. Yes, it was a productiob choice to leave the breaths and that kind of things, we tried to maintain the 'humanness' into the finished product. Really glad you enjoyed, thank you!
1. you're really adept at making chiptune sound beautiful and harmonic when in the wrong hands it can be grating and chintzy, what software do you use? 2. great build, is that lead voice a synthesizer or a vocal track with a giant effects chain? 3. I enjoy the beat a lot, the vocal flow is solid but the bars aren't really anything to write home about, I think playing more with the vocal effects would be neat
4. I'm baffled by how tight your shit is, it's like you skipped the awkward beginner phase and jumped straight into writing these awesome arrangements, don't even think about stopping 5. I listened to the first track, I think it's really good but could use tweaking in the mix, the bass synth is far louder than the lead synths arpeggiating in the back, if the leads were more forward in the mix and the kick had some more power (sidechaining could help) then it would be a bomb track, I've bookmarked the rest of the album to listen to later 6. this is enjoyable enough to listen to but I found the vocal performance too monotone, and a catchy chorus or hook would do the tune wonders
I unironically threw this together in 5 minuets, I don't listen to trap much anymore so didn't know twinkly keyboards were in style.
>me
Jayden Hughes
I like this, with proper tweaks it's got potential as being an obscure hit like that song "I'm Awesome" in my opinion
Alexander Taylor
I thought dinky loops like that were always common, that and pianos are the few tropes I keep remembering from other trap songs.
Angel Fisher
>few tropes i remember from trap songs >not sub bass and rattling hihats
Dominic Baker
Ok you got me there
Justin Thompson
desu anyone with a minimal understanding of music can make it in today's rap scene, it takes minimal talent and effort to please the consumer who usually has very little understanding of how music is made.
Noah Parker
then do it
Ethan White
oh god, my brain typed desu idk why that's in there
Lucas Lee
holy shit senpai
Gabriel Reyes
I don't have the personality or looks, and already have a cozy tech job so i just throw shit together for fun.
Anthony King
so only people with a minimal understanding of music as well as the right personality or look can make it then?
Jackson Torres
it's usually them who make it, with a few acceptations. you gotta be nice to be around if people are gonna work with you. if some neck beard with Asperger is an artist there is a pretty big chance no one will want to work with him or promote him unless hes a protege or some shit. looks and personality matter a lot
Tyler Morales
so, not anyone can do it and specifically you can't. weird flex but ok
>the bass synth is far louder than the lead i despair when reading this kind of bs. btw the kick is sidechained already.
maybe try not to give advice when you know shit. just leave your silly number grade and fuck off
Caleb Carter
it's not even a number grade I was just numbering how many feedbacks I gave, which is why it goes 4-5-6, maybe dont post in a feedback thread if you're not looking for or can't handle any kind of critique
Alexander Thomas
interesting track ideas, but could really use some better mastering. your tracks are too quiet for me!
idk why, but this shit reminds me of svdden death! good shit! :)
woooo well done! i like your synth wave music a lot! strong mixing and sound design skills! your music is exciting and well put together! really enjoyed!

You’re gonna tell Droopies to give recs? This man’s been around BC threads longer than most of us. He’s probably given more feedback than anyone in this thread. You need to chill.

this is why the likes of billlie EYELASH and B(T)S (BTS stands for Bull T. Shit #BanKpopAccounts) dominate the charts because people like YOU are too lazy to share and support the music of TRUE artists
Where's ur songs bro? First piece of advice is try and detach any of that feisty personality from ur art. Ur thread topics suck and imma never follow ur gay rules. Shout out to wimpsnarl... u don't know who I am, wimpsnarl, and I don't need u to.. I rec ur shit.. I don't need followbacks or circlejerk recc. Just dig ur shit..
>TRUE artists that weak strawman argument may work on your retarded 12 year old friends being a feedback nazi does not make you a TRUE artist in fact i makes you a tosser
