We need a band to Kill Indie Rock just like how the Ramones killed Prog Rock

We need a band to Kill Indie Rock just like how the Ramones killed Prog Rock

That's the only way Rock will ever be popular again

We actually need to get white kids to stop listening to trap and top 40, that’s how rock will come back

That shit is designed specifically to get the audience of kids who would otherwise like rock and brainwash them. That's why they dress them up in colored hair and band shirts and Hot Topic shit, the industry is really more devious than ever in the modern day to get everyone under their control now that the record selling game has been all fucked up.

Trap became popular because Rock Music stopped being edgy

Except the Ramones didn't kill prog

thinking punk killed prog is revisionist

Joey Ramone looked like an even freakier looking Howard Stern

i swear mu is retarded
go to any diy scene
it’s only untalented trust fund kids sounding like shit versions of every 00s indie rock band
combining with the fact most ppl can’t maintain relationships let alone friendships longer than a yr
you really expect 3-4 retards to stay in a band to shit out couple good albums
hell no
don’t forget the shit pay
or any kid can just pirate fl studio or let that old town nigga and buy a cheap best and spend a week rhyming meme shit

What's your point
OP said rock not faggot music

Imo, rock should stay underrated. If it blew up like country did (kind of), then hacks like Lil Nas X would rush to capitalize on it immediately and the genre would be flooded with terrible albums.

glam rock killed prog rock

The (((Ramones))) didnt kill )))prog(((. Prog is alive and well.

Indie rock committed suicide.

If we look at these things in terms of like general stereotypes and not splitting hairs about genre, what Ramones and "punk" did was kill the idea that rock music had to be fluffy super bohemian shit with flutes and brought forward more of a raw attitude and edginess...of course this was quickly co opted by metal bands who took the template laid down by older metal bands and applied the surface level of what punk was doing, which over the course of the late 70's/80's would completely overshadow punk

Also, this is mainly from a British point of view, in the US I don't even know that punk got that popular because you had plenty of hard rock shit going on that I'm sure was more popular than punk in the mid 70's...it didn't seem to really do any damage to the hard rock/early metal audience in America

Fucking love the conspiracy my dude, but I reckon that coloured hair and band shirts is just how you appeal to kids in general, not some weird subversive campaign to undermine rock music.

There are definitely some big label conspiracies going on though. I think the whole pushback against people who don't like top 40 music is completely manufactured. Go on reddit and make a completely polite, neutral comment saying that you don't like Kanye and you get like 20 "but people have different tastes" morons coming out of the woodwork immediately. They're making criticism of mainstream culture into a taboo to protect it and stunt the underground.

>Fucking love the conspiracy my dude, but I reckon that coloured hair and band shirts is just how you appeal to kids in general
So then why is it a strictly 2010s phenomenon among rappers and pop artists?

Wrong. You go to a DIY scene and there are no kids there trust fund or otherwise, just 35+ people staying true to the diy values they grew up with.

It's good to see people coming together like that, but it's a sad reminder that the kids just aren't fun anymore.

Because there's about a ten year lag between kids doing something organically and executives capitalising on it.

where u live

Rock is stagnant because Brits don't make Rock anymore.

All the popular rock music of the last decade rock was promoted in the mainstream (the 00s) was made by Americans

And what I said is key, promoted...rock is not promoted anymore, so the average normie who doesn't go out of their way to find music on their own isn't going to be exposed to it, in the 00's you had no choice but to be exposed to it

Indie Music's obsession with technique Is antithetical to Rock as a whole, which is why a lot of former Indie Rock Bands ditch the Genre for Pop and Lofi as those genres has less limits

Half the time UK North and half UK Midlands. Can't find anything close to a scene in the midlands apart from a techno party that like 15 people go to, and the North is mainly just middle aged ex-hippies unless you go to smaller band shows in the city which are pretty good.

I got some fucking great current British rock for you you're gonna love it

>OP makes a thread about how indie rock needs to be killed for rock to come back
>thread ends up with people acting as if indie rock is what OP wanted

You people are idiots

WHAT THE FUCK DO WE DO HELP

Boomer mad because rock bands are making actually interesting music with fresh and unique styles and nobody wants to go back to ride-on-lawnmower core because it was shit.

Here's some more great indie rock for you to listen to while you seethe.

I don't listen to music with no balls, heart, or energy. And neither do teenagers, they listen to rap now. Thank you for your service fag.

This, we need a new resurgence of Shock Rock that people will actually take seriously

Indie rock is already dead.
