listening to audioslave rn

also checked

Nice quads. Good dude, interesting voice that can't be replicated like Eddie Vedder's can, sang for the second best band in ther big 4 of grunge (AiC is #1, debate your mama), sang the best Bond theme.

>big 4 of grunge
g-go on

he had a fantastic voice and made pretty decent music, but something about most of his music kinda disappoints me.
i think part of it is that i find his songwriting kinda weak, especially his singles. most of my favorites from him are lesser known (comparatively) cuts like 'Drawing Flies' and 'Mailman'.
i also think that he should've done some sort of album between badmotorfinger and superunknown that tried to emulate some of the strong points of nirvana's nevermind. i know it'd be kinda cliche but i think he had a perfect voice for it and that it was sort of a missed opportunity.
i'm sad that he killed himself, he seemed like a good guy and i do like his music. soundgarden is probably like my third favorite grunge band, only behind nirvana and mudhoney.

Legit the only dude who could sing adequately over a Zep cover

Great rock voice had that raspiness.

youtube.com/watch?v=Ts7dTQhg0RY

not the guy you replied to (i'm ) but for me, the ranking would be something like...
Nirvana > Mudhoney >>> Soundgarden >>>>>>>>>>> Alice in Chains = Melvins >>> other shit no one cares about >>>>>>>>>>> Stone Temple Pilots > Pearl Jam

seasons is his best song

He's dead

Soundgarden is good, and Temple of the Dog is underrated

Great sense of melody that comes through no matter who he worked with. Had a sick voice. Burden in my hand is my most listened song. Listened to it at least once a day for like 5 years.

Only thing I don’t like of his is Scream. I respect taking that artistic chance, but it really wasn’t good

chris cornell more like chris corny becuz he's corny

He dead

That’s definitely the consensus

I miss him... His death never really hit me

A top rock vocalists of all time

Chris Cornell
Ronnie James Dio
Steven Tyler
Robert Plant
Axl Rose

no ordered

4th of July is a pretty good track, not sure if he wrote it or not. Other than that, i never cared too much about vocals so idk.

He was about to expose a Hollywood pedo ring.

Dont need to say anything that hasn't been said already about soundgarden but i remember spending a month only listening to seasons

facts:

soundgarden is the best grunge band one of the GOATs if you prefer alice in chains why don't you listen to tool or disturbed you nu-metal cuck (though I will admit that one of the 'fatal flaws' of comparing SG's discography to the other all-time greats is that its pretty truncated and doesn't have more than 2 'classics')

superunknown is a 5/5 perfect strong 10 masterpiece album

chris cornell is objectively and spiritually an amazing vocalist

however chris' voice worked best when paired with the darker tones and tortured themes of soundgarden

>to be less of a shitter troll for a second if you haven't listened to Superunknown front to back you need to, it's a powerhouse album, really diverse tracks, almost all of them are huge winners in their own way

>superunknown is a 5/5 perfect strong 10 masterpiece album

yeah and I think Down on the Upside is possibly even better

found the boomer

Melvins are not grunge. They are also way better than most grunge bands.

i see the melvins get lumped in with grunge a lot, iunno
they're not really my thing personally, but i have a lot of respect for them

The only Seattle scene musician of the big 4 that's actually from Seattle.

necked

>I CAN'T LIVE WHEN IT LIIIIIVVESS
>IT WON'T LIVE IF I DIIIIIIIIIIIEEE

I really like artists that I can listen to on good days and on shit days.

>People are like, 'Well, she doesn't know the Sex Pistols.' Why would I know that stuff? Look how young I am. That stuff's old, right?

i wanted to fuck her so bad back in those days

>Nirvana at #1 grunge band
>Stone Temple Pilots that low
Absolute pleb
For me it should be the big 5 and I would rank it as
Alice In Chains > Soundgarden > Stone Temple Pilots > Pearl Jam > Nirvana without all the extra >'s you tards always put into these kind of things

For connoirsseurs of the early soundgarden

Acoustic version of just like suicide is based

I can get behind that ranking but AiC, Soundgarden, STP always float in and out of number one for me depending how I feel, i do think PJ and Nirvana are the weakest of the bunch. Hell I think Silverchair was better than both those bottom bands

youtube.com/watch?v=0w8sNA8wdLA&feature=youtu.>be&t=1566

I love America

Great singer. He should have handed the guitar duties to someone else live because it really held him back.

nirvana is easily one of the best grunge bands
definitely not lower than stone temple pilots or pearl jam
most people who completely shit on nirvana are just being contrarians to try to look cool

He was definitely murdered.

>Hell I think Silverchair was better than both those bottom bands

Maybe PJ but there's no way in hell Silverchair is better than Nirvana

the demo is better

If anyone doesn't have the 20th anniversary set I definitely recommend it, it's a nice thing to have and the discs have a lot of neat tracks on them

>no Staley

Dave killed him

>no Cobain

>Only thing I don’t like of his is Scream. I respect taking that artistic chance, but it really wasn’t good
I actually like the title track.

Favorite SG record is Badmotorfinger. Temple of the Dog was OK. Audioslave, no thanks.

nice quads
best vocalist of all time is between him and Staley imo

His cover of "Girl U Want" by Devo is better than the original.

strong disagree

Nirvana is fine but Core beats anything they've got

Really underrated songwriter. Some of his chord progressions are really bizzare, but he's somehow able to make them work pleasantly in a pop format.

THAT BITCH AIN'T A PART OF ME

I DON'T MIND STEALING BREAD

The best ever. Bar none. Rest his soul.

All I know is that him and chester bennington liked to fucc each others butts

greatest vocalist of our time. he has such a unique voice and great range
>MACHINE HAS NO HEART TO GIIIIVE
>HEART IT TAKES COULD BE MIIIINE

While all the tone-deaf Tool sycophants circlejerk trying to convince themselves that garbage is good, its nice to known a small corner of Yea Forums appreciates a real artist like Chris Cornell.

You forgot Rob Halford. And Mercury.

Both gay.

You got me there.

Absolutely based singer. Soundgarden was the best grunge band for me.

His solo material was hit-or-miss.

I still miss him and get sad when I remember how he went out. Don't know why.

He was the real deal. Also from '86 to '92 he was literally the best looking frontman in music. No homo.

Best singer in popular music.

Truly was the most legit thing to come out of the “Seattle Invasion” I really miss him and still don’t understand why he left us...
