How does a black guy from the hood end up sampling jazz records? How did they get exposed to it? Where did they get the records from?
How does a black guy from the hood end up sampling jazz records? How did they get exposed to it...
sage and retardpilled
Jazz is literally black music
From their parents' and grandparents' record collection, also the record store probably.
>imagine thinking black ppl listen to jazz
Jesus christ
Get this
Rap used to not exist
nice waste of a thread retard
what do you think he was listening to in the 80s? Kendrick Lamar?
>implying all blacks in the hood are grug brained apes with shit taste in music
I'm a racist and even for a guy like me, that's cold.
Most were actually sampling soul and funk records, not jazz.
Rap existed in the 80s already brainlet
jazz used to be incredibly popular.
Now it's nieche stuff for nerds only, but it used to be hella mainstream.
What are you talking about lmao, jazz stopped being mainstream in the 40s already
Yeah, but not in the 80s, it only reached peak popularity during the late 30s.
>jazz
>mainstream
>hella
go back retard
This is either bait or OP really is retarded.
It was still popular up to like the late 70s when fusion + shitty synths killed it off for good, you are aware how many jazz classics came out in the 60s right? Just because cringy big band crooner shit wasn't on the pop chart anymore (thanks white gentrifiers) doesn't mean jazz just stopped evolving
probably this
their parents and grandparents probably liked jazz a lot
questlove described guys who made beats as people who made the boring part of the record collection interesting
but dilla specifically used to spend a ton of time crate digging looking through credits of records for weird instruments of certain musicians so he can find more interesting textures to sample
like dude sampled anatolian rock man
*weird instruments or certain musicians
The Reds have done it I swear
Chairman Mao created J Dilla in a secret laboratory and injected him into your mind
he's a crate digger. half of record stores' inventories are jazz records
It was way underground since the 40s, no one gave a fuck about it at all
retard
>black people only listen to rap
Haha racist
Nowadays yes. Nobody gives a shit about funk, jazz, soul and blues these days except whites and asians.
black boomers love all those genres
Boomers have absolutely no relevance to the cultural zeitgeist.
and neither do you by the looks of it
Do you always resort to personal insults after the rush of insecurity after fucking up in an argument?
i'm not even the person you were arguing with but please go on
>same amount of replies in same conversation
Yeah sure, other user just decided to drop out the minute you decided to butt in. Regardless you're a fucking tool.
>you're a fucking tool
>"WAKE UP SHEEPLE"
What the fuck are you even talking about? Are you so desperate to dump your weak bait folder you're going to post shit out of context because you failed to bait someone into your desired line of conversation? Get a life.
lol so randum

In certain places like Chicago, they had some of the biggest blues and jazz movements/cultures of the time. People from Around the country/world would visit Chicago to play and record records. There were hotspots all over the country and most were in and around black communities/created by blacks. Kids for decades now have literally sampled and listenes to vinyl collections passed down through their families and recommended at record stores and clubs in black neighborhoods. Plus it's probably really hard for black kids to grow up and not be taught "black music" history. Miles Davis, George Clinton, Marvin gay etc are like elvis, Neil young, John Lennon and whatnot in black culture. Zoomers will be a different story though, rap will used and sampled in the next generation of black music that is inevitably going to be rock and electronic music
yeah u rite owo x3
Nas's dad was a jazz musician
