I chose Elliott Smith because there's a big boom right now in sad sounding lo-fi music. He'd probably still do great in indie scenes.

Stop bumping your own shit thread
Nobody thinks about these weird obscure things like you, if Elliott Smith would be bigger now, you'd get fan girls listening to him now instead of Shillie Eyelib

AAAAAAAA
THIS THREAD WOULD BE GOOD IF PEOPLE POSTED IN IT IT WAS A NEAT CONCEPTTTtT

fuck you im bumping it

bump?

Holy fucking cringe

That's me when i see u

If we had Elliot Smith we wouldn't need John Mayer tho

Godflesh. If their debut came out 7 to 10 years later they could've become a household name like Rammstein are.

bump

Mazzy Star. Saint Etienne. Pretty, ethereal girl music.

Lo-fi music wouldn't be nearly as popular today without someone like Elliot Smith to pave the way.

Sweet Trip. They're huge on here decades after the fact, but during their prime they only ever managed to play a few shows and Darla cucked them with not releasing VDC and YWNKW on vinyl because vinyl sales were in their decline in the early 00's. Lots of other artists are coming closer to their sound nowadays.

wait why did this get actual real people talking on it after all that sperging i did
i guess being retarded pays off, huh

Ariel pink is the of all this faggot ass music you guys listen to i dont think he gets the credit he deserves

that might be true but i'm not sure
do any of these shitty lo-fi artists list elliott smith as one of their influences? it seems like they normally mention really shitty 2000's emo shit or they compare themselves to kurt cobain. i think lo-fi is just popular right now because it's easy to do without much training or money.

This is an English board, user.

i agree

would queen still do okay? their singles are ridiculously popular right now. bohemian rhapsody is one of the most streamed songs on spotify.

I love you OP. Elliott Smith is a fucking goldmine of perfect music. I think he would do more than well these days, his playing was incredibly creative and most of his lyrics were pretty good. Stuff like Angeles still blows me away youtube.com/watch?v=EzHsRMAz348
As for older shit, I think Joy Division would obviously be just as successfull these days given the amount of modern bands they just fleeced their whole shtick.
