Twice now, descending is my favourite I think.

Probably 20 times or so
Invincible

Descending so far
I just got home from work so Im on my second listen through the album but they're all so good

Invincible is the best on the album and one of their best.

There are 10+ other threads about the album. Fuck off

buttrock

I'm 34. I've listened to all of the albums on the Yea Forums core list out there and I'm re-listening to FEAR INOCOLUM for the umpteenth time (realistically, I'd say I've listened to it at least 100 times) and I just have not found that many other albums to match it artistically. It is just so inspired throughout the entire thing. It bothers me that folks would write it off as "metal" or "hard rock" and only consider it good in those categories. I've found a LOT of "metal" and "hard rock" to be very subpar and many people in those bands let the loud volume account for what they lack in talent. TOOL is unlike any other band on the planet and their scarcity, limited material and mystery make them all the more appealing to a world that gets EVERYTHING IT WANTS RIGHT NOW (DAMNIT!). TOOL fans wait and wait for more material ... and the reason why is their existing material is so amazing - especially FEAR INOCOLUM.

I know what I am saying has been said a million times before, but it just seems like everytime I read about TOOL in a major publication they write them off as a fringe band. I know MJK does not give an F about all this ... I'm just sad they don't get the respect they deserve on those best of lists. The Yea Forums core list is filled with awesome stuff - no denying that - but FEAR INOCOLUM deserves to be on that list.

4 times since last night. I think Invincible a top 5 track overall for them when all is said and done.

Queer Inoculum

Twice.
Probably Invincible. Nothing has sunk in properly yet though.

Aenima > Undertow = Salival > Lateralus > 10,000 Days > Fear Inoculum > Opiate

Invincible

Has another album in recent memory brought the board together like this one has?

It's so bad, I don't even see the point of this anymore.

Only once so far. Gonna listen to it a couple of more times tonight while assembling models. Don't have a favorite song yet, but I marked out to the beginning of 7empest.

Pneuma's beginning sounds A LOT like Schism.
Which isn't a bad thing at all

Just endless shitposting
It's just 2 or 3 anons spamming the same 3 or 4 copy pastas

Maynard anally raped an 8 year-old boy for a sex magick ritual with his cult

contrarian

Unironically my introduction to Tool was this meme, which I found in a google search back in 2010-2011. Looked them up, read that they were working on a new album and figured I'd wait until it came out so I'd have a better excuse to get into them. The longer the wait became the more I held off listening. Now that it is out I'm going to spend some of today and tomorrow going through their discography so I can at least get some closure.

HELLO, HE LIED!

Skip Opiate. It's not a good first impression

Meaningless buzzword.

Will do, about to start Undertow, will report back with opinions if I remember.

I knew he was a piece of shit sleaze but this is too far.

Sitting in the student union hearing it for the 3rd time now, Pneuma

How much did this cd cost?

This album is GARBAGE

Released purely for a quick cashout

They put nothing into it
Sounds like terrible leftovers or they hired a band to play their old music a bit different so they could sell it twice

They're greedy and shameless

Awful album

Worst of all they are occult scum who fuck children in robes because of Crowley magick bullshit and the fans are okay with this

I am NOT okay with it
They need to come clean and face JUSTICE

I'm reasonably close to the band and I know for a fact, have seen photos and heard detailed accounts so it is coming down
I wish they'd be men and admit it

Why did you just believe someones words on this site?

More artwork.
There's like a 30 page book of artwork in here too but I'm not gonna post all that.

Show me on the doll where Tool raped you

I'm convinced you're just a (((musician))) that's butthurt that people are enjoying music that doesn't have a kiddy diddling agenda behind it

I've listened to it in full 5 times now. It has almost gotten better exponentially each listen, tool still has that same magic. Fucking mindblowed, I like it better than 10kdays already and 10kdays went from a 7.0 to a 9.0 a few years after it came out.

Fear inoculum - 8.2
Pneuma - 10.0
Litanie -
Invincible - 9.3
Legion -
Descending - 10.0
Culling voices - 7.5
CCT - 10.0
7empest - 10.0
Mockingbeat - (10)

Howwww the fuck did they do it bros?

Checked at not counting segues! haha

Why 9.3 for invincible...what kept it from a 10?

Why do people keep giving Culling Voices a low rating?
Genuine question because it's easily one of my favorite songs in the album

Tool's entite thing with sex magick and the free masonry puts them right in with the pedophiles. Maynard and Adam are deep into occult, how new are you. Their order practices rituals of anal sex with boys

Agreed

Same. I enjoy the album from Culling Voices onwards. The earlier tracks are a bit of a slog.

they stopped working and then started working on it 3 years ago

>e-everything i said for all these years about crowley and magick was all a lie
Nice try, Maynard.

Apparently the song that plays during the video is called Recusant Ad Infinitum

about 5, pneuma
that intro is otherworldly

Not really. I just find the live versions of Third eye and Pushit as some of Tools best stuff. The whole album is awesome actually. The other order of the list is somewhat the mainstream opinion from Tool fans

Chocolate Chip Trip is the best song

Prove me wrong

Live versions sound like shit to me, unless I'm there listening to it LIVE
Tool was my first concert ever, and am considering going broke next month just so I can see them again

9.3 might be a bit harsh, might as well give it a 10.0 but I'm autistic. For some reason I see them as the same movement/song. Like a part 1-2 deal, and i just like the descending part better, feels like the conclusion. Idk why I put them together like that, maybe because tye placement on the album and that they played them live? Fuck it inchange my rating to a 10.0, it's miles better than most music and uniquely a song only tool could pull off. If it was on say, a Mastodon album, it would be hailed as their best song and climax of the album. Dammit I hate rating music honestly, it's retarded.

It's not really a "song" but more of a "Danny you need to show off at least once this album" song, so it gets an upvote from me

I hate to say it, but Invincible will undoubtedly end up in whatever is next year's big capeshit movie trailer. It's a good track.

>Tool in some blockbuster movie
Yeah, that’s never ever going to happen

danny's showing off for the duration of the entire album lmao
not saying it's a bad thing just
it's not what you say it is

Danny can't play without sounding like a god, but CCT is him literally showing off. The song is just a glorified drum solo

Paid shills are desperate to make people believe this shitty album is the best thing ever LOL

>paid shills
Maybe we're just fans who are excited to listen to this band's first album in 13 years?
I see a lot more forced "lol fuck tool" posts than anything. Gonna call him a kid fucker now too?

Damn, thanks for showing this it's actually really great and weird.

Not sure if being sarcastic, but Sony owns RCA and Sony loves them some capeshit. Also

Actually, that clip is made me think that if any song from this album got in a trailer it would be Invincible...I think there's another Tool track in another trailer, but I might be thinking of NIN and 300

>t. maynard

Descending and Culling Voices.
>Don't ya dare point that at

first listen but its good, and you guys just go for easy bait

do people seriously not like the sound of drums? cct is orgasm in sound form. listen to it in really nice headphones or speakers, those drums and pads/synths are liquid crack

this

I've listened 3 times now. So far Invincible is probably my favourite. This is definitely their proggiest album yet. I think these songs will translate to a live setting really well.

I see it more like
Lateralus>Fear Inoculum≥10,000 Days>Aenima>Salival (but Pushit and Third Eye are better than album versions)>Undertow>Opiate

>gigagod tier
lateralus
aenima

>god tier
fear inoculum

>fantastic tier
undertow
10kdays
opiate
salival

HOW DO THEY DO IT

There's a solid early style Adam riff second half of Culling Voices

Lateralus > Ænima > Fear Inoculum > 10,000 Days > Undertow > Opiate > Salival
All of them undertow and above are masterpieces in my opinion though.

I’ve never wanted Danny to hit his fucking cymbals as much as I have on parts of this album. When he finally does it is a fantastic payoff.

Isnt it literally about getting frail and weak as you age and struggling to keep in touch with reality as you wither away though? Unless it was like Logan, it seems like the opposite of the message they would want

I've listened once

So discuss it one of the existing threads instead of making twenty “thoughts?” threads. It’s not difficult.

It seems to be the trend in the movies now, the fragility of the superhero...making them antihero by succumbing to life

I'm 27. I've listened to all of the albums on the Yea Forums core list out there and I'm re-listening to HUEY LEWIS SPORTS for the umpteenth time (realistically, I'd say I've listened to it at least 100 times) and I just have not found that many other albums to match it artistically. It is just so inspired throughout the entire thing. It bothers me that folks would write it off as "pop" or "rock" and only consider it good in those categories. I've found a LOT of "pop" and "rock" to be very subpar and many people in those bands let the catchy choruses account for what they lack in talent. HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS is unlike any other band on the planet and their catchy melodies, and lyrics which are easy to identify with make them all the more appealing to a world that IS ONLY AN ENTITY, SOMETHING ILLUSORY (DAMMIT!). HUEY LEWIS fans wait and wait for more material ... and the reason why is their existing material is so amazing - especially SPORTS.

Chocolate Chip Trip

It's not bad. But not that good. Feels like they just fuck around on half the songs and they go nowhere. Also am I the only one who can't understand wtf Maynard is saying half the time? He seems really subdued and underwhelming in most tracks except the first and last ones. Maybe I have to listen to it again to like it more.

Honestly of all the songs, nothing makes me want to keep coming back like their old stuff. Even the often bashed 10k days has numerous songs I enjoy coming back to.

Attached: 1292367223267.jpg (600x488, 57K)

it's not bad by any means but after two times listening to it i think im able to put into words my thoughts on the disappointment i feel, the mix is way too clean and the distortion they used is too, the whole thing lacks the chaos and weight found on lateralus and 10k days

the rifss adam plays are too familiar and uninspired. song structures leave a lot to be desired, the lyrics maynard came up with seem way too literal without any poetic flair to them

that said i might just need to listen to it some more, idk

Wrong post?

Also, what imbecile bashes 10,000 Days?

I didn't mean to quote.

Muh nigga

If you're a buyfag and/or a (big) Tool fan then yes go for it. I am a buyfag but just your less than hyped average fan and I do not regret the 40 dollar purchase. It's just got a really unique packaging to it with the little screen and audio inside that you can pause and whatnot. Just really cool shit if you like physical media. Plus Alex Grey's artwork is all over the place inside.

just remember how life changing moment was listening to the song lateralus for the first time

there is not even 10000th part of that feel on this whole shit album
literal b-side of 10k days that they found under old soccer trophies of their kids in basement

they will take millions from retards regardless
based

>the mix is way too clean and the distortion they used is too, the whole thing lacks the chaos and weight found on lateralus and 10k days

that's part of what I like about it. Aenima sounded very different from Undertow and Lateralus, but Lateralus and 10,000 Days felt like a Load/Reload or Mesmerize/Hypnotize situation. (Vicarious slaps though)

lol harsh, but i agree about the first play through of lateralus and not being disappointed. this feels like how i felt when i first went through 10k...took a lot of listens before i found what i liked, even then it's still not one of my go-to's when i'm in the mood for tool.

my thoughts pretty much exactly. this new one sounds like just shit cobbled together from rejected stuff of old recording sessions.

it's a matter of taste obviously i was really craving that primal energy that was there on lateralus

There is not much to say, it's a good fucking album.

Been waiting for so long

after listening to pneumonia i got those heebiegeebies when somethis it's so good that you can't handle.

The rest of the album was ok, over-average tool

Pneumonia is a masterpiece

10 times now. Every song is great but probably Pneuma, Descending or 7empest would be my favorite.

Just once was kinda bored till 7empest came on and holy shit ut actually dounds not only good, but kinda sounds like it could have been on Ænima. The rest is meh to ok the filler tracks are uninteresting.

I think what fucked them on this was all that time waiting. Think about it: if they released this exact album like 10 years ago we'd all feel the same way we do about it now, but we wouldn't feel like we waited a million years for something just "good". In my opinion this album should have been fucking fantastic with all the time the band had.

The 13 year wait obviously gave all of us fans unrealistic expectations on what the album was “supposed to be” in our eyes. That being said I was totally pleased with it. I think it’s an incredible piece of work. Tool have once again reinvented themselves while still sounding like Tool.

One thing is for sure though. We will get at least 1 great music video, but when? Also what happened to the septagram with the red ribbons and shit? I was hoping that would have been the covor art.

...

low energy album

It’s definitely their mellowest, but low energy? This is Danny Carey’s best work with the band imo.

Pretty mediocre, it's basically Lateralus. 10,000 days is still by far their best album.

Sounds like every other Tool song ive ever heard. Every song sounds the same.

Drums-pounding away
Bass-twangy and erratic
Guitar- Downtuned palm muter
Singer- background howls

shitty album for shitty fans

Like 15 or so. I felt kind of frustrated at times because there's hardly peak intensity moments like Tool did in previous albums but the more I listen the more I love these chill, jammy vibes
PNEUMA

You think 10,000 days was better than Lateralus?

what the fuck is chocolate chip trip?
people actually exclaim they like this track?

Pneuma*

7empest is fucking fantastic. CCT would've been tolerable without the shithouse synth.

It’s by far their most mellow album. But that’s not a bad thing to me.

It's a meme interlude filler track. They do it every album.

i just want to know what the fuck they were thinking with that album cover. it's so god damn ugly.

DUDE DMT LMAO

7empest was pretty gud.

anyone have the album art without the text?
it was posted in one of the threads earlier.

Listened once.
Fave is Invincible.

its a sick drum solo. if youre going to talk shit on a filler track why not fucking mockingbeat

7empest, quite a few times now, honestly lost count.
Not my favorite Tool record but it's definitely up there.

The digital exclusive tracks aren't worth the extra minutes so I'm happy to stick to the 7 track version.

I call it the Half Life 3 problem. No matter what they release it’ll never live up to expectations. I still really enjoy it as well

It sounds sounds so damn good though. If you don't get joy out of hearing drums being played maybe you should just stick with ambient music. Drums are a god tier instrument. Still can't wrap my head around people who don't like/get drums.

As a prog album, yeah. This album is pretty mediocre even for a prog album.

is chocolate chip trip supposed to be good?
it’s drum wankery over an annoying synth riff

Probably ten times. Been a huge fan of these guys for ~20 years. The album is growing on me with each listen but I don’t think it will ever be as good as Lateralus/Aenima/Undertow/10kDays. Favorite track is Culling Voices

I've listen to it twice. Musically it's about what I expected from Tool at this point. Great in some parts underwhelming in others. 6 or 7/10

I'm just in complete aw about how bad the recording quality is. After my second listen through on studio monitors I thought it was just me, but then the Grudge came on after and there was really no contest between which song(s) where recorded or mixed better.

Maynard seems more excited and into the Puscifer albums. he sounds bored , uninspired, and so over Tool at this point on this new release

On my 4th listening. Fav traack so far is Invincible. The album overall is muh more robust than 10k days, but not a good as Lateralus. Still, much better than I expected.

This is a more mature Tool. The odd time sig are there, the wacky, esoterical themes are present, the instrospeted moo continues. Yet it sounds more streamined, more consistent, more focused. Loving it so far.

I think that's actually what I'm enjoying the most about it, now. Because it's so low key the moments when something happen are more intense in context, where as before it was all just slammed in your face (which I love too) but there's this subtly and nuance now that makes what seems like semi-heavy parts feel *really* heavy.

who should tool get to be their new singer now that maynard is done with tool?

thom yorke?
cedric zavala?
christian vander?
gerard way?

>but there's this subtly and nuance now that

tool has always verymuched had that. you mean there's alot more hypnotic and chill parts??

A Tool (band) and Thom Yorke collab would be insane and I think would work amazingly

Yes, but they still HAD 13 years to work on it. They chose to only work on it for 3, and this is the result, no matter if you think the album is good or not. That's his point. (I think it's ok)
Brainlet detected alright...and brainlet is you.

yeah somehow i think it would be so good music would break forever.

>tool has always verymuched had that

I'm going to disagree. Undertow, Anemia, and Lateralus (for the most part) were in your face...muddy with distortion; mixed closed in, almost claustrophobic. Most songs had breaks in the middle where they chilled the fuck out, but this is the inverse.

Yeah, end times...it'd be the world's swan song album

Alice Glass

Production wise, this record is closer to 10k than Lateralus, or anything before that. Which is not exactly good, as Lateralus is their best produced album. The mix is clean and focused, but it lacks the impact of Lateralus.

The guitar tone is too mid rangy for my tastes, and some aspects of the drums are questionable, e.g. the hi hats are too sterile, they sound as if they were recorded with a single mic, and panned hard center.

Still good, but lacking. Although the mastering might be the problem, chopping the transcients in favor of loudness.

Can you connect it to your PC and look if there is some interesting file in there?

paid shill confirmed

did anyone upload the little video that plays when you open the case, im not buying this thing unless they release a normal version for 12 bucks.

I don't think you understand how music is made.

WHERE TO LISTEN>!

It's funny you mention hi hats, I went to fire up Undertow and the cymbals/hi hats sound like aluminum pie pans...

>DUDE CHEETO PRESIDENT

Their next and final album should be an instrumental

Would be dope. Shit tool with a female singer is something I never really considered, but honestly would work better than anything else if Maynard were to quit the band. Tool should get shiina Ringo or Faye Wong maybe

Bjork or Poppy

Opiate is their only real "in your face" album. Subtlety became one of their Staples afterwards. They've always had a great balance between heavy intensity and creeping subtlety.

Well, it is not fair to compare it to pre Aenima albums. Those were recorded in Massie's (Willaims) basement, with a budget of 4 cases of beer and half a kilo of weed. Great albums, but the sound quality is clearly limited in cash.

Absolutely shitty idea.

Did anyone else notice that Danny has his snare wires off the snare drum for the majority of the album or is it just me as a drummer? Personally, listened to it 3 times now. 7Empest and Descending are the 2 that just got me to go "oh wow". I listen to a lot of prog and this is right up my alley. Deosn't compare with Lateralus or 10000 Days. However, lets face it, we haven't really dug into the lyrics too much yet.

am i the only one who never gives a good god damn what any singer is going on about in the lyrics? i couldn't ever care less about what they are about or any meaning

i typically don't care but sometimes some lyrics just make me cringe and I simply can't ignore it.

I haven't listened to it, but I didn't like it very much.

The nare is quite in plenty of Tool's albums. In Lateralus, the snare is basically another tom.

>Their order practices rituals of anal sex with boys
For your own good, don't ever listen to Coil

Typical side effect of Down Syndrome, it's normal.

For some reason, it really kinda stands out on this album.

Mu liking a tool album is alot how tv started to emelia clarke

aenima > undertow > lateralus > fear inoculum > 10000 days

best tracks are pneuma, culling voices, and tempest

Did Maynard lose his vocal range or wat? There are no real powerful voice performance on this entire album. just a lot of the simple moany type style shit

>aenima > undertow > lateralus > fear inoculum > 10000 days

FINALLY! I knew I wasn't the only one...which means you're prob old as fuck

The dude has only cared about making wines for the last decade or so. He got fat, fucked super models, and invested in crypto. He has zero interest in stoner metal music.

has it right. They sounded real good live. Pushit was my favourite for a long time

once so far. I would be surprised if I give it more than 3 plays ever.

I sold my album on eBay for 80 bucks

maybe better than opiate...maybe. Worse than all the other albums though

emilia Clarke is underrated as fuck desu

YES!

Is it me or is there an audible hiss in the background of the album?

Aenima > Undertow=10000 Days > Opiate=Lateralus=Fear In

Never heard of TOOL before a certain Youtuber made a video about their new album.
Very good

Attached: 1539890011729.jpg (960x958, 106K)

This album sounds like a startup garage band and one of them got their really good drummer friend to come over and jam with them one night. Then they're like "hey that was cool man, when is next practice?" and the drummer is like "oh yeah. Uh that was fun. good stuff i'll let you know..." and the bass player secretly recorded the jam and this is what they are all listening to in his Mom's kitchen after the drummer leaves while they discuss band names.

Never listened to Tool before. Now I've listened to this once and listening through some of the songs randomly.
It's a nice listen. I enjoyed it. Thanks, Tool.

These were the original lyrics to rusholme ruffians by the smiths

it's their best album behind lateralus imo

t. 30 yr old boomer

>I'd have a better excuse to get into them
You don't need an excuse to get into anyone you psycho.

tape hiss, my zoomer bro
Albums recorded in analog are like that.

Out of Lateralus and 10,000 days, I prefer Lateralus, however 10,000 days has the better produced sound. Clear as a bell.

Im on 7empest now.
Its better than I expected, but im not totally blown away.
Favorite is probably decending.

33 yr old boomer here, I agree with you
those two are the most mellow albums from the band, and once you're older you enjoy that aspect of the music
most older folks I've seen are actually very happy with the album. it's only the zoomer fags who got into tool with 10k days that are unhappy and cry about "muh 13 years of wait!"

tool is 10x worse than kpop

>favorite song
invincible or 7empest
>ranked
lateralus>10000 days>aenima>fear inoculum>undertow>opiate

I really like Culling Voices.

>tool
>in your face

they're one of the most low-test "metal" bands

For me it's still Lateralus.

can we all agree that Aenima is overrated/hasn't aged as well?

Nah

For real, this album is fucking trash if this is what they got after 13 years. I guess that's what happens when you turn into a group of boomers.

Nothing in this album stands out. 7empest is the closest there is. Nothing like Aenema, Stinkfist, The Pot, Jambi, HWAP, etc.

It's like listening to a (admittedly talented) stoner garage band going into studio and just throwing together all their bits into 10+ minute songs that don't have direction.

Attached: kkQvUsW.png (1000x861, 259K)

well, looks like Ænima is still the best Tool album

Only correct answers are 7empest and Invincible.

get away from screens for a bit schizo

This album was recorded on analog? Why would anyone do that in 2019? Well at least I know its not my copy I guess.

Based retard

>less aggressive = lower energy

3

Pneuma is the only track that actually resembles a song. The rest are just unfinished jams.

they didn't spend 13 years working on it, they all put a pause on working on new material until some legal cases were done, and those ended up taking like 10 years. plus some of them had kids. they've only spent 2/3 years on it.

this is Tool's St. Anger. Sad to see em go out like this...

This is exactly how i feel

somewhat, i think undertow and 10k are better. Lateralus being the best

>they all put a pause on working on new material until some legal cases were done
Nonsense, they aren't lawyers, they don't need to spend 24/7 nose deep in law books for 10 years. You can still do your job with a pending legal case.
>plus some of them had kids
Again, having kids doesn't prevent men from continuing to do their job.
Pretty sure one of them recently said they finish a different album a few years ago and they scrapped it.
I think the hype got to them and they got lost, they became too critical of everything they did, and it took them becoming old men to stop caring about how others will perceive it and just go with it.

>13 years
why would anyone wait that long to drop such a turd that shows no growth

the guitar work could be more interesting, not much of a jump from other work
that isn't saying the guitar work is bad though, it's great.

For sure, they haven't been making it for 13 years of course. My point was the direction and musical ideas they have been storing piece by piece for 13 years has ended up being something I find disappointing.

It's just OK. Definitely some good moments but also feels a bit uninspired, aimless and monotonous at times.

It's alright, but I feel like The Synarchy of Molten Bones is still going to be my AOTY.

Absolute pure pleb filter, holy shit. Can't believe I dismissed them

I like this
It makes me happy
I am not disappointed at all

Shitty post.

lol alright bud, because everyone obviously has the same creative process. having a kid or multiple court cases surely doesn't enact any stress.

They literally have all of it uploaded on their youtube.

ah I gotcha, sorry to hear, hopefully with time it grows on you but I totally understand how 13 years can totally change how you enjoy an album

I really like the mellow sound of this album, Invincible is definitely my favorite so far.

Yeah I'm sure they all put off playing their instruments for 10 years because they had a headache.

13 years for this?

10k>Opiate>Ænima>Lateralus>Undertow>Fear>Salivial

god, why?

That list is whack brah.

Ended up listening to them all back-to-back with a break between Aenima and Lateralus. I agree that Fear Inoculum is the worst. The more mellow production just doesn't work for every song on it but there's moments where it works. None of their albums are complete shit but overall Tool is just ok; outside of Aenima and 10,000 Days, they're not something I'd write home about.
10,000 Days = Aenima > Undertow > Lateralus > Fear Inoculum
You might be right. I just don't like getting my hopes up anymore.

I fell asleep 4 songs in. What did I miss?

This is unbelievable they had the balls to try to sell this turd. I bought it and deleted the album. What situation is this music appropriate for? I cant think of one.

>everyone waited for this album for 85% of this site's existence
>mods still fail to make a sticky once it actually happens
that's what you get I guess

Seriously think that would be amazing. Brilliant, pretentious (but have earned it), and meticulous minds working together...

This is The Last Jedi of music.

nope

about $100 in Europe (+ shipping)

$45ish

This has to be bait

Compared to most bands, it's great. Compared to Tool, it's better than 10,000 Days, but weaker than their other albums. Maynard never really screams. Adam Jones never really gets as intricate or heavy as he used to. Justin Chancellor doesn't do anything special. Danny Carey did great, as usual. I wish it was little more heavy and aggressive. The riffs are too generic and Maynard sounds bored. They had 15 years to come up with awesome riffs.

I still love them for their past work.

CCT is quite good

The first song is shit, the rest have a decent style that actually sounds like something other than all their other songs we have already listened to a million times. It’s not bad but not really good at the same time

kek

>hear and their
6/10, you got me to respond

7empest had such a disappointing ending

All the stores I called were sold out ;_;

>knew demand would be high and didn't preorder
You have only yourself to blame

it was used in the justice league trailer too

This is the OFFICIAL track ranking

I’m sorry kid

its good?

Attached: sad pep.png (658x662, 44K)

maybe you just get bored of each one as your standards drop

No song is memorable, all are extended jams that oscillate between one loud riff and one soft riff with a lot of palm muted guitar and bass triplets in between. Soulless , doesnt have shit on Lateralus and Undertow

Scores are based on the taste of their readership. They don't want to offend or alienate people and lose money.
If you're looking at music reviews for any kind of objectivity then you are a lost soul.

t. Listened once and skipped through to the “good” parts

Undertow > Lateralus > Aenima > FI >>> 10k days

>Undertow at 1

Imagine trying to impress people when posting anonymously

Too was my favorite band in high school, bought 10,000 days in the 9th grade. I listened to this album 10 times, it doesnt grow, there are no hidden depths. It is an old band's attempt to remake lateralus but it's very apparent how apathetic everyone was about making anything people will give a shit about in a week

Didn’t read past the first few words of this larp

I waited till official release even though those leaks were tempting. I'm glad I did because this version of the tracklist is a much more fleshed out and compelling tracklist instead of just the 7 songs through the leak. I listened last night at 12 and I'm currently on my second listen.

My favorite songs are a tie between Descending and Chocolate Chip Trip

Reading is tough, I dont blame you. Especially for a Tool fan

Once so far, I'm not sure if I will listen to it again anytime soon. The album art is nice, Alex Grey did a great job. I'm surprised they included a lyric book, because the motherfuckers have never done so in the past.

I like Chocolate Chip Trip, because it sounds very dfferent and interesting than the other tracks. It's like they tried to sound like Aphex Twin for a little it and weren't sure to go full electronic.

The others are ok, Culling Voices reminds me of Peach's (Sons of Tundra) You Lied, live performance. (I highly recommend you all to give it a listen, it's better than tool's cover on Salival youtube.com/watch?v=uCu2vbj5BN0)

After years of listening to their other albums, I feel like Opiate and Undertow are thrash metal albums and the others are prog-rock, so I'm not going to compare those two with the others. Salival is also different so I don't consider it a contender.(I like this version than Salival's version youtube.com/watch?v=LGbel0NZpXo) I like Holy Gift more than Salival.

10,000 days and Lateralus tied /Ænima/Fear Inoculum

10K Days > Lateralus > AEnima > FEAR INOCULUM > Undertow > Opiate

>My favorite songs are a tie between Descending and Chocolate Chip Trip
>Chocolate Chip Trip

people are serious about this song?

>Here's your B sides and remixes from 10000 days that you've been waiting 13 years for, bro. Enjoy

Where's the rest of the songs? or did lil baby with no patience listen to the abridged leak like a sad c u c k

Me when the new tool album comes out

Attached: image.jpg (726x750, 408K)

You're on Yea Forums , obviously people will say they like the most contrary thing

is there an edit for this album?

It's great. It has a silly name but it has amazing prog drums and immersive post-industrial type electronics. It's an amazing tune, but it's for sure off putting to those who don't already enjoy that style and it's completely different for a band like tool.

The segues are all complete shit

>" I was at this show. Maynard came out in a wig. He stopped right before Forty Six & 2 and shamed all of us for starring at his tit's. Hands down this will have been the best show I'll see in my life... "

wow, maynard sooo woke since 90s

Really though, I bet you can find fags crying about it on YouTube

>t. The average teenager Tool fan

>the physical CD is an "abridged leak"
>MP3s downloaded at release date is somehow the canonical version of the album
yea no
like it or not, the CD represents the actual album, and the segues are just "bonus tracks" which are absolutely nullessential

Not yet but there can be, do it

WARRIOR
STRUGGLING

Attached: e1sdbjbgz9t21.png (640x741, 788K)

The CD release is called a deluxe version for a reason. The streamed version is for sure the true version of the record, the instrumental breaks are essential to the pacing of the record and the piece as a whole. The band themselves said that this is the full version and that they weren't included due to CD space.

>I'm surprised they included a lyric book
sucking up to the pleb
also the mastering makes it clear they had phonelisteners in mind this time around

I think listening back to back like that is a great way to doing it, especially as a first time fan. It's sort of like waiting until all the hype for Breaking Bad died down before trying to watch it.

Right? Plus he'd bring all his crazy studio/midi shenanigans and it would be amazing!

>the audio CD is muh sekrit bonus collectors item
>streamed intangible ephemeral lossy MP3 audio is the canonical representation of a Tool album
kek

What? I don't understand what you are trying to say. Try again bucko.

2006 was pretty fucking dope.

t. 1988 boomer

trufax

All in al, 3 times so far. Really like Invincible, CCT, and 7empest. Everything else is decent to good. The title track is the only one I'm not liking as much as the rest.

>it's better than 10,000 Days

Imagine being one of these tool fans lmao

Killer Justin Chancellor riffs:
>Aenima
46 & 2
>Lateralus
Schism
>10,000 Days
The Pot
>Fear Inoculum
????

Where is it bros, help me find it. This is why I bought the album.

itt: a bunch of friggin TOOLS lol!!

you gotta admit though, its an interesting study in herd mentality. I mean, choose love, think for yourself, blah, blah, yada, yada. And if somehow that leads you to felling like this is a hollow snoozefest? Upset the apple cart and all those tired Maxims go out the window. Tool fans are loathed for a reason. They're wooks, burners, vegans, hipsters, and Juggalos. They think they're not, but if you've ever been to a show......Yeah, they are.

Yeah, pretty much.

I like the album as a whole but this is my one disappointment.

Chancellor and Carey are my favourite part of the band and while drums were front and centre it was a shame not having the bass as prominent as in previous records.

Honestly listener probably 30 times and pneuma, decending, culling voices, and 7empest are the songs that stick in your head. Invincible is next. And fear inoculum is a great opener/warm up, reintroduction.

a hundred threads and this is the one that sticks?
what a shitboard.
someone post the pasta.
