Can you hear a difference guys? (besides the acoustic string noise) Normal mic'd guitar amp vs reamp.
gofile.io/?c=RjgpHU

/prof/ is ded

What is the best possible interface for music? Piano keys are the standard but I see producers use a damn Mac keyboard more often.
I remember someone asked about guitar and everyone said it would be shit. Anyone use something unorthodox?

any feedback

>niggas KNOW about Twitty
Not a fan of the 808, it's too aggressive sounding for the rest of the melody. Good transition, like the 70's resonant sound, but you should tone down the distortion on the kick in that part. I like the last part best, it sounds properly sinister. The little key runs get old pretty quick imo.

Thanks

What could I seriously improve?

What frequencies to make more silent or louder? Also is it worth to make a passage less loud and fade in a completely differently sounding one and then back out? Because I have a certain dilemma - I don't want to fade out a nice passage on accident. Is it an idea to just glue the faded out passage on the end of the track?... But maybe it just would have fitted perfectly where it was. idk lol

youtube.com/watch?v=bPUPf8nsW0E

it sounds like a fucking video game LMAO!!!!!!!! the keys are godly, well done

THIS SOUNDS SO JEWISH LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(((((trap)))))

I mean the melody, I recognize that style. It's similar to middle eastern music but slightly different.

What is this?

it really does I know I heard a jew song like this

i need to listen to this jew song you got a link

What key is this in?
Did you use any "exotic" scale?
Doesn't sound Jewish or middle eastern to me, but it does sound like an unconventional or ethnic scale.

i don't know i just put notes down i don't know shit about scales really

Are any of the chords or melodies sampled or taken from somewhere?

no i did all of it, here's the main melody if that helps

Attached: Capture1.png (707x581, 72K)

Attached: Capture 2.png (1041x478, 75K)

Your melodies and chords are pretty good for someone who doesn't "know shit about scales really".
You've got a pretty good musicality/intuition. Make sure that when you gain knowledge you keep using your intuition instead of starting to use logic and making worse music.

i'm trying to learn piano but i can only play tuba, thanks for the advice

just bought my first midi keyboard, what's the best software / DAW to use it with?

Are you proficient with the tuba?
If so, didn't you learn any theory while learning it?

What's your goal?
If it's just playing it like a piano, Synthesia.
If it's to make music, what kind of music?
For electronica type genres, Ableton Live.
For Hip Hop type genres, FL Studio.

yeah i'm pretty good at it,i barely had lessons but i played in orchestra's and stuff for years and learnt through that

That's cool.
I suppose that's where you developed your musicianship.
Keep it up man, you're doing well.

good response, thanks. I'm brand new at it but the big dream is playing in a band so any kind of electronic music thing would be good. Ableton i've heard of, lemme look into that

You can pirate it here:
audioz.download/software/win/156979-download_ableton-live-suite-v1010-incl-patched-and-keygen-r2r.html
audioz.download/software/mac/156976-download_ableton-live-suite-v1010-macosx-incl-patched-and-keygen-r2r.html

It's a trusted site so it's safe. Just make sure to click on the peeplink links and not on the ads.

You should also be able to find tutorials for it on there.
I recommend these two:
audioz.download/tutorials/video/144198-download_sonic-academy-how-to-use-ableton-live-10-beginner-level-1-tutorial-synthic4te.html
audioz.download/tutorials/video/145783-download_sonic-academy-how-to-use-ableton-live-10-beginner-level-2-tutorial-synthic4te.html

If you feel like watching a longer but more in depth tutorial:
audioz.download/tutorials/video/142875-download_lynda-ableton-live-10-essential-training-tutorial.html

If you don't want to download through DDL sites, you can google the name of these releases and you'll probably find a working torrent.

Good luck.

You can't simply get in an orchestra like that, bad bait

Attached: FB_IMG_1565967402957.jpg (720x687, 42K)

He probably means like a school orchestra or something like that, not a real one.

damn, that's some quality service right there, thanks a lot dude, bookmarked all the tutorials and am downloading the program. Appreciate the assistance.

thanks, i'm glad you enjoyed it

i've been producing for a little over 5 years, 4 on guitar before that though. post new songs pls

god damnit man...

better free samples of the same kits are floating around drum machine wise, with better labeling and at more usable volumes (not ridiculously quiet)

i just downloaded "vintage drums vol 1" for some acoustic stuff and these are embarassing recordings, completely unprofessional. i'm keeping only two of the usable samples but saving them with necessary additional editing.

clyp.it/ifqidtgd

/prod/ equivalent of Mozart’s “Kiss My Ass”

Really good composition that made me realize I need to step up my game. Can’t say anything about the mix though cause I was listening from a phone at work.

question.
when producing, is it a little too autistic to master and mix levels,EQ and FX on a second by second basis or is that a normal thing to do?

Attached: 1558716753693.png (2048x1536, 3.98M)

Most people do a rough mix as they go, then do a proper mixdown session when everything is finished.

Have to do a factory reset on my PC, gonna take the opportunity to finally graduate from FL. I'm planning on giving Ableton a go, are there any other DAWs that might be a better choice these days? I make downtempo-esque stuff

They're all good desu.
Ableton and FL Studio are the most popular and easily piratable, so yeah, I'd go with Ableton.
FL Studio is still good though, why do you want to leave it?

If you want vintage drums, go sample drum breaks. You can also use them as a reference to figure out how to mix multi mic drum VSTs (Superior drummer, BFD, addictive drums, etc) in the style of 1960s or 1970s breaks.

A lot of the "muh vintage drum one shot" packs are just some retards attempt to chop single hits out of drum breaks, or they take sterile modern kits and try to drop a 'muh tape & distortion' chain on them. You can do all that shit better than they can, fuck them.

I started off with fl and moved over to Mixcraft 8

its not an upgrade but a definite sidegrade, a lot simpler to get to grips with than fl was for me, but im a brainlet

I think ableton is a good alternative. If I wasn't on mac and have been using logic for so long I would have ended up on there.

Personally I would love to have a standard midi keyboard that also had touch sensitive shit on the keys so I could send additional midi CC# data to my kontakt instruments. Something like Doepfer Touch Keys. Its just a key retrofit for existing keyboards. youtube.com/watch?v=fNxacJZXPic

Does anyone have any idea where I can download the OTO Biscuit VST? I can't find it anywhere.

i wasn't looking for break hits or your advice.
while i appreciate friendly attempts, your previous posts here have deemed you a permafaggot and i'm not ever going to not be annoyed as fuck by your posting

i am biased toward ableton, especially since you say for downtempo stuff.

people can bullshit about workflow all day daw wise, but ableton has effects that are kind of expected in electronic music the way gross beat is expected for trap stuff (and fl has a lot of very nice instruments as well).... but i say stick with what you know: if you've got a year or so experience with a daw and don't have a concrete reason for switching i think it's silly to switch at that point.

I like the guitar sample I wouldn't put it with that bell though

arqen.com/bass-traps-101/placement-guide/
I've been reading this and I have 2 questions:
how retarded would it be to stack panels to make a bass trap?
and most importantly why a sterile room is considered bad?

>guitar sample
Thanks user. I have a Peavey VK 50 that has a mic simulator which I plug straight into my frostbite. The bell and 808’s are just inbuilt samples that come with ableton lite 10 though. That idea is for all samples to be 100% mine so I am saving up for a serum and possibly gonna upgrade to standard ableton version sometime soon hopefully. Thank you for you reading my blog post.

i'd just pirate that shit but if you can afford it you do you

Big talk for a noob who can't even find a good drum hit.

was composing some shit and I really like how these 8 bars loop (they loop 4 times in this fragment)
clyp.it/tfh3dfcu
I really like the alternating time signature. Those 2 extra beats every other bar give some room to breathe yet at the same time build tension.
Might work this out into a full song

>niggas cant into harmonic minor

If you mean layering two owens corning 703 2" to make a 4" that is very common. A sterile room is considered bad because it is highly reflective.

youtube.com/watch?v=cp56A6TcL1E

I still use reason 5, the last version that seems to be piratable

But it's two different scales.
One screencap shows the F harmonic minor and the other is a D harmonic minor.
How does that work?

That is just one continuous melody without any stops. You gotta utilize rests and create space between notes in the melody because that’s where all the feels are at.

scales are simply recurring patterns all over the keyboard - you could as well use not recurring ones or less repetitive ones, "music will recognize these" and it will make sense to your ear

Try something like telling yourself that each third note you use will be a semitone and each fifth for instance twice as long as the previous one, it will work

it's magic bruh

I don't understand.

I will definitely have to write something about this, I was composing like that for almost 10 years without being able to explain what Ive done

thanks for making me think about it

Try it out. You even can use bogus notes inbetween of points where your function is being applied, it will just sound strange, you will only concentrate on the recurring passages which would make the whole thing make sense.

clyp.it/3yp1krro

Finished this yesterday, and I really don't like it. It has all the things I like and it matches what my original intention was, but I'm just not proud of it. Maybe I listened to it too many times, I dunno.

>clyp.it/tfh3dfcu
I love alternating time signatures, but I'm not getting that feel. Sounds like ten measure of 4/4 to me, and then it loops. Still doesn't sound bad though as a rough draft.

What would you like to get compared to?

do I have to get compared to something?

Is a bass trap a crossdressing fish

it traps bass frequencies

Seriously? How much significance do you attach to yourself so you would consider the possibility of being a person which wouldn't be comparable to anybody or anything? Are you a psychopath? Grandeur is a capital sin

>How much significance do you attach to yourself
very little
I just wasn´t trying to imitate anyone in particular so I wouldn´t have a clue who to compare it to.
It´s also something that doesn´t interest me very much.

more something like pic related since I got a bunch for very cheap, I imagine It's probably not worth doing
>A sterile room is considered bad because it is highly reflective
I'm a bit confused in the article I posted they say to not overdo with the panels because the room would be "lifeless", shouldn't it be the opposite aka no reflections at all? It's not the first time that I read this but I still don't really understand why exactly too much acoustic treatment is bad

aaaaand forgot pic of course

Attached: aac981d8-83a3-497e-8b6d-6f142bbacb5d.jpg (1200x1200, 104K)

renoise posters only

Oh. I didn't read the article. I assumed sterile they meant empty AF. Well, I don't think you are going to accidentally remove every reflection from your room unless it looks like pic related, so I wouldn't worry.

If you go on atsacoustics.com you can buy a 6 pack of 3 foot by 2 foot 2" thick owens corning 703 for like 68 bucks. Then you build a shitty wood frame around them for support, cover with a sound translucent fabric (so u dont get fiberglass in ur room)- like burlap. Then you have 6 bass traps and you have saved a lot of money.

Attached: 04984217d8eb116e70ba15d97d84ef06.jpg (800x586, 121K)

that room is horrible

should have said, you can double them up of course, and make them 4" and produce 3. Probably more effective that way but it depends on what ur budget is / needs. Also u can look up tables that show u what the freq absorption is for different materials (owens corning 703, rockwool, some foam shit).

youtube.com/watch?v=yeLRXR4KGeM

how does this fucko achieve that panning effect on the guitar in the beginning of the track? will it work if i automate the panning?

also how do i record/mix a guitar to achieve that percussive sound?

It just kinda sounds like a close mic'd muted slap on the guitar?
And the panning.. I think the only reason it sounds novel is that ur just hearing L hard pan then R hard pan. I dont think there's any need for any fancy automated anything.

shipping almost doubles the cost of most of those materials. plus for a standard room you are gonna need way more than 36 sq ft of coverage to do anything.
I used almost 300 sq ft for my medium-small room to just get the reflections dampened enough to not be noticeable in recordings.
then add bass traps which are even more expensive and arguably more important for the normal studio room setup. you can basically add them until every corner in a room is filled. costs get out of control fast

I think this is a pretty solid chiptune, my bro says it's weird that it goes through so many different "shades" in a short time, and it seems too busy.

Man I really like using it, but this update is so far looking kinda lame.
I mean, last year for 10 we got two super cool synths (Europa and Grain) and three sample players.
This year it's two effects units and the SSL mixer's sections as REs?
They look useful but it's a letdown compared to 10.
And then they say they've got another synth coming out but only in the "suite" edition, otherwise you gotta get it separately.
Dudes better step shit up on their 11.x updates for real.

This is the intro and verse leading into the first chorus. I can hear the chorus melody in my head plain as day, but I'm struggling to find a lead that goes well with the song.

Everything I've tried so far sounds way too... artificial and computerized relative to the rest of the song and just contrasts way too much with it. I'm open to ideas.

anyone here use SSL compressors?

protools "industry" boomers always rave about it but I don't get the hype. Still using stock Logic plugins

hype

Like real ones? Hell no I'm not rich.
Software who gives a shit, it's all fake anyways.

desu i always thought "X compressor emulators" were retarded and just stuck to abletons stock one/that one tdr one until i got curious and started using native instruments solid bus comp....

idk man i really dig the sound on a bus, even occasionally to smash a snare where "snap" is more a priority over body (it's usually not any better than the stock compressor i just like to mix it up)

... and yes i know that ableton's glue compressor is also ssl "inspired," they're obviously very similiar sounding but you get less control with it.

...idk, it was one of those things i didn't realize i would use until i tried it. if you meant hardware, i'm sure they're nice but I don't think they're at all among compressors whose sound have yet to nailed by plugins lol

nice tune

Good shout junglist

since it has an xlr plug it can't be a tube one, so the only transistor based ones in question in that body type are the 87 and 77, a newer 87 (ai) would use the EA87 shock mount but since they're using the old Z48 mount it's more likely to be an earlier generation 87 or maybe even a 77

god I hate him so fucking much

feedback on mixing & mastering?

Attached: 1562264259753.jpg (719x695, 55K)

youtube.com/watch?v=iWRfLuJ_NKw

Personally I use midi keyboards because that's a pretty direct way to making musical decisions. But the real answer is, whatever is right for you. Honestly, if the keyboard doesn't work for you throw it out. If pads don't work for you, get rid of them. If strings don't work for you, fuck them. Hell, if western ideas of pitch and notation don't work for you ignore them as much as you want.

I do this but kicks are just so weirdly hard for me to make. I'm sure I'll eventually get it, i mean i get the basic idea of what a kick is and it's function. But idk, I just suck at making them.

Hi guys. I'm doing a collab with someone and I've never done one before. Is this enough material or maybe too much? The theme is basically synthesized metallic sounds.

Attached: Kaskade_20120803_Indianapolis.jpg (1117x1117, 358K)

What's pedal n. 256 that appears at 18:43?

nah just feedback on how gay you are

Rookie composer here, I had no idea this thread even existed. I'm composing for game dev and have been going for a while but I'm starting to hit walls. I feel like I'm missing something, or a lot of things, because every single piano VST I try doesn't sound right. I really want a piano that sounds "soft" but I just can't get it to happen. Am I supposed to be adding some kind of effect? Or doing some other thing? Up until now I've just been putting down notes in piano roll, I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing.

Attached: 1304154780767.png (208x193, 70K)

Have you tried lowering the velocity?
Your DAW should have some kind of vertical bars underneath the piano roll that correspond to the notes you're programming in. That's a parameter called "velocity" and tells the plugin how hard you're hitting the key.

Also, if you're using a good plugin (like a professionally multi-sampled library and not a synthesized piano), you should have options for the pedals as well, which is very helpful for getting a realistic sound, and in your case, softening it.

wrong track fuck, the one I posted is shit

I have unimaginagle doxxing (and general Googling) skills.
Don't put yourself down kiddo.
You didn't really do anything wrong.
I'm just a world-leadng expert. You had no chance from the start.

Nevermind, found it.
It's the Catalinbread Antichthon.

Ive tried doing velocity a lot and literally all it does is make things quieter.

Maybe it's just my VSTs, though. None of them seem to have pedals. I guess I'll have to look harder, although I'm pissed because I already had like 10. I also shouldn't have posted all this right before bed, but whatever.

What VSTs are you using?

Get Kontakt and look for YT reviews of piano libraries. I'm sure you'll find a good one.

Turn the attack up slightly

Can Piano libraries do that?
I thought that was a synth-only thing.
Unlss it's a simple sampler where you just shave off the transient with the integrated ADSR, but that wouldn't really be worth using for realistic instrument, no?

it adds atmosphere trust me I tried without it and it sounded bland

Does anyone know what is happening in the opening of Boyfriend by Ariana Grande?
It sounds kinda like an old sample reversed but it might be synths.
Would love to get more insight into this sound.

hey guys, om pretty new to Yea Forums. i was wondering if i could get some feedback on a song. first time i sing on my own stuff so this is kind of new to me. thank you :)
soundcloud.com/imbolin/remember-me-when-i-die

I have a dumbass 101 production question that I've always wondered about

Most basic pop songs obviously have a chorus with a repeating vocal refrain, and obviously the chorus is repeated throughout the song.

Does the singer actually sing those lines like 16 times or whatever, or do they just do it once and then copy and paste it?

Pic related.

Attached: DON'T.png (849x238, 67K)

Some times they sing every part, but usually they comp the best pieces out of every take so they get the perfect one and use that throughout the song.

no he spent most of the video shilling for waves

If someone was just getting into production now what software would you recommend (PC) and what should they stay away from

just try the free demos and use whichever one you like most

Renoise

What kind of music?
All the top ones are good and can do whatever music you need them for, but for electronica type genres I recommend Ableton Live, and for Hip Hop type genres I recommend FL Studio.

They're easy to pirate, have tons of free and paid (piratable) tutorials and resources, and are extremely powerful.
You really can't go wrong with any of these two.

>Renoise

Mainly the community. If you're looking for tutorials and resources for Ableton, most of them are gonna be for electronica, and for FL Studio it's gonna be Hip Hop (with some EDM, but not as much as Ableton, as most of the EDM crowd has switched to that).

Also Ableton is integrated with something called Max, which allows you to add all sorts of functionality to the DAW through what I'd call a system of extensions that are relatively easy to make (and most of the third party ones are free).
This is great for the more technical producers because it lets you do complex and unconventional things very easily, so the more advanced electronic music producers tend to use it for that.

Also I should add that if you want to make traditionally recorded music (like in a real studio) and put the takes together, your best bet is Pro Tools, and if you don't want to pay for it (it's not really piratable, though you can find old/oldish versions) go with Reaper.
These two DAWs are more geared towards that sort of production and while all DAWs can record/mix/master recorded music, you'll have an easier time with somehing that's made specifically for it.
Pro Tools in particular is the industry standard for this sort of thing, so on top of being very good at it, it's what you'll find in every studio, and it's what every boomer producer or engineer knows how to use.

you got me woke with that fat polka beat dawg.

BUT THEN AIRWINDOWS TOTAPE i forgot this shit existed for a minute, added a little something to the master, i'm (: now

i want to help but at the same time i've spent hours and hours sifting through shitty free drum samples to consolidate into usable rock samples in general....

Your mix is nice, man. I really do like your synth choices. I've always had a bit of trouble with that, but I clip my mixes to hell anyways so, it's just more air to throw at people. I do like that sidechain gate thing you got going on there. It's an interesting choice and I wasn't actually offended by it. It felt deliberate. But, to be honest, the only worth a shit information you'll get from me is about vocals, guitar and drum processing, tuning and mixing. I'm an ancient 20 year old boomer man. Your shit bumps tho, thanks for taking a peek at me.

I can never get past this stage.
Am I doomed to make generic ass hip hop beats forever?
I don't feel qualified to give feedback but feel free to let me know if you want me to comment on something.
I listened to everything in the thread.

I call them "cracker beats" because only crackers make beats that bad. Just some fun verbiage for your own use :)

show me some nigger beats

>verbiage
nigga speaking french lmfao sit down bro youre the whitest motherfucker in here baka

I'm looking for something more constructive than this

I never said I don't make cracker beats. They're just called cracker beats because my old mentor would always look at me when someone would be selling "beats" on whatever fucking platform or group, he'd look at me, shake his head and say, "Mother fucking old ass dusty-motherfuckers, trying to pass off some goddamn cracker beats. I bet you could goosestep to that shit."

number one tip stop doing that stupid MPC swing kick thing.

That sounds legit, trust.

>clyp.it/3yp1krro
Try playing with the spacing a bit
Every so often it feels like you're too eager to jump to the next thought. Let some of your favorite parts "ring" if that makes sense.
But otherwise this is pretty awesome honestly.
I would be damn proud of this if I made it.

>that stupid MPC swing kick thing
Not him but could you elaborate please?
I'm not sure I understand what I'm supposed to listen for in his track.

Depends on what you want but try something an octave or two above the main melody and bring it front and center to really let it pop. I'm thinking something fast and choppy.
Also I think the eq automation on the percussion at the beginning was too gradual. But that's just me personally.
Sounds good so far user, keep it up!

>clyp.it/cmhtcquk
Bring the bass out more, you can barely make it out.
Also your "Wooshing" sound is way overplayed.

>I tried without and it sounded bland
Then add more sounds.
Stop being lazy and covering for your lack of talent with "atmosphere"

>clyp.it/tebogfhg

>clyp.it/whmxr10q
First of all, lose that high pitched chime sound. It will make the women dry.
Then drop your high end on the sample and the bass and play with boosting the low-end as well. Maybe layer some other/stronger subs to give it a rumble or some shit.
Overall you should be heading in a completely different direction

Not sure what you mean by this either.

I am really white honestly.
The sad thing is I'm really trying but I don't seem to ever really improve.
Is it bad because it's generic? Or because of the sound choices? Or arrangement?
I'm trying to think different but I keep falling on my face every time I try.

needs more reverb

>89853585
Just listen to more rap and just flat out copy it, dude. I mean, I've never really taken too hard to rap that much so I've never done much in the beat department. I may be liable in the cracker beats but the only thing that was suggested to me was, "You need to listen to real NIGGAS click keys on a Dell laptop. That's mistake number one, you're using the MIDI roll like a European man."

But in all seriousness, it is really just about repetition and dissecting what they're doing until you're comfortable to start making variations on a theme, or your own theme that's cogent and fits within "hiphop" or whatevz.

Just do your thing man, end of the day none of us are going to be anything more than hobbyists more than likely. Just enjoy the stuff.

Fuck mastering with the prebuilt Reaper tools like this was a nightmare and probably sounds like shit.

clyp.it/fcl0gnsb

>Just study more
General advice is worse than nothing.
I need actual constructive criticism.

>real NIGGAS click keys on a Dell laptop.
based.

Okay, like, I really have nothing better to say then frankly. I don't know JACK shit about hiphop and can only really give you sound advice on how to record a guitar, a person, or a drumset. Like, I don't think you get it-- you're not studying, you have to flat out steal. You just steal it, and you pick it apart. Have you ever tried MIDIing out a song?

>I don't know JACK shit about hiphop
Then why are you trying to give advice then?

Because you asked me in , sorry homeboy >_>

pfft, i make drums in supercollider, new ones for each song

>clyp.it/ghbgjmth
punchier snare, and get rid of the 808 and never use it again then ur good

just steal shit off other people, all the greats did it, just try and make the stuff you steal obscure so that normies don't find out.

Why are you still replying?
Not even the first user, this is completely useless advice to give a la “practicing makes you good”
No fucking shit

clyp.it/naqx4bsm

Any feedback? I'm not sure how to feel about the mixing

i wanna start recording my voice what do i buy to get started?

Personally I have a USB mic (blue snowball) and it works just fine, although it has a limited recording time since it overruns the buffer and starts crackling after 15 minutes or so.
I just have to remember to clear the buffer manually before I want to record anything, it's still a pain and eventually I'll get an interface and a nice dynamic.

Attached: 1550430667073.png (1600x5592, 2.89M)

So, do you use normalization on your final mix? I've never done it but I've been looking into it and how it works and it seems like there's really no good reason not to do it? That is, assuming you've already done as much as you can but there are still some parts that clip for maybe a fraction of a second or stuff that is too quiet in relation to everything else.

I can't really find a reason not to do this that doesn't stem from audiophile "they didnt do it back in the day" bullshit and I'm not really interested in that. But maybe I'm just wrong and missing key information.

awesome thank you

>I’m a noob
You don’t normalize because that’s the whole point of mastering- you’re already hitting (or ideally a bit less than) 0db

Even for the weirdos among us who make super dynamic ambient etc and actually have super quiet masters that don’t necessarily approach 0, you don’t normalize solely because intersample peaking and mp3 conversion can give the end listener slight distortions later on for just that little bit of loudness, which in this situation wasn’t a goal of the mix/master in the first place

Yeah but I'm not really asking in the context of releasing music, more just keeping it stored away and only occasionally listening to it. For that reason I don't really master stuff beyond the very basics because 1: I am indeed a noob and haven't fully learnt how to master well and 2: I'm not releasing things.

I just want my stuff to be loud enough so that I can just throw it on my phone sometimes and not have to turn the volume way up and still have it too quiet.

Also, what if you take intersample peaking into account? I'm not saying just normalize then then you're done and never have to listen to it again.

Alright /prod/, here we go. You're at work rolling up a footlong BMT and you get a sharp intense pain in your side, you double over and collapse. You wake up in a bleak hospital room with xrays on the wall.

They tell you that you have stage 4 pancreatic cancer and you probably only have a couple weeks to live. What piece of music from your archives will you have them play at your funeral?

Attached: 131305048820.jpg (3072x2304, 974K)

My farty FM synth ditty.

well you're asking in a production thread where it's assumed you actually want to sound good and (most) people are at least attempting to learn.

intersample peak limiters exist. i stan limiter no 6 pretty hard, it has one, and it's free.

nah dude if you're just somebody who records himself singing and playing guitar with a usb mic or some shit and is doing it for fun and nothing more, just normalize and call it a day, it'll just be louder without clipping and shit, perfectly fine.

.... what?
nobody but my close family would show up and i don't want to rape them with idm fuckery :(

.... there was this piano song i wrote a few years into /prod/ing when i first got my midi keyboard and was v into arca and was really attatched to it for a while.... it was pretty okay, not great, but i eventually chopped and absynthed it into a drone a yearish later and i still think it's pretty good... so maybe that one. idk, too many to choose from

nvm makes me pick just a 10 minute export of max modulating parameters of a massive rubber patch l a w l

Pretty cool sounds, I think it needs more sonic hooks and flourishes, it has a bit of a muffled stagnation to it and it needs some salt. Also when it starts distorting it doesn't sound nice to me at all, be careful with your gain staging and limiting. Carefully formulated distortion sounds good but clipping and smashing the mix into the ceiling is poopoo

>record them
>make industrial metal
