Does Yea Forums even make music?

Yeah, but just garbage. Especially /prod/ which is full of grid based DAW shit and VSTs

H-hey, don't speak ill of the dead.

What’s UI

Was your soul worth it, Adam Smith?

Time to go Chinese friend.

yeah that seems to be the case, cheap analog is a pipe dream. absolute money hole

I like MicroFreak.
Say something nice about MicroFreak.

Bruh tell us what you like about it. It looks fun.

Don't you guys get tired of subtractive synthesis

what should I do with my ms20?

Hey lads, so im thinking of getting a hardware synth to have more hands on control in songwriting and performance. I've used Sylenth and Massive as VSTs for a while and can say I know the basic ins and outs of sound design, but I hate being limited by the delay time when recording and performance is certainly out of the picture. I'm thinking of either a Korg Minilogue or a Yamaha Reface DX, or even a Behringer deepmind 6. I want to make some psych pop with both synths and guitars. Any recs?

All of these are good starter options.

I wouldn't get reface dx unless you really want to learn FM Synthesis. It is a great portable synth though and the keybed is surprisingly good if you're at all used to playing keys.

Minilogue and DM6 are more hands on and between both i'd rec the Deepmind, unless a 4 voice polyphony isn't a problem to you.

Minilogue will really teach you about synthesis and yield great pop sounds but if you're used to the extensive modulation capabilities of a soft synth, maybe something a bit deeper in terms of menus, then i'd rec the DM or Novation Ultranova, which is super cheap used now.

Is it a mini? I sold mine, but sort of miss it. Had such a unique sound and layout. Thinking about getting the Behringer clone when it comes out, even though I already have 5 other desktop monos.

My vote is for the Deepmind. Love mine. Never been a fan of the Minilogue oscs, but the XD looks interesting.

tfw no synth mommy

I don't like the reface series at all for numerous reasons. All devices launched for around 500 dollars, don't have audio out via usb, don't take velocity as a modulation source despite sending it via midi and the reface dx only supports 32 preset slots for that price which is an absolute joke and enough reason to never buy another yamaha product again. There's no knobs on the front either so performancewise it's not that interesting. The minilogue has an ugly and sterile sound to my ears. If you can spend a bit more or find a good deal, the deepmind 12 is a really big update over the 6. The oscillators tend to profit from 2 voice unison because they're a little thin by themselves. 12 voices also go a long way for pads. The effects section is great. If you liked the sound of your VSTs, I would recommend having a look at used access virus modules. The A and B models can often be found in a similar pricerange and they're extremely deep and powerful.

user... take a closer look.

the problem of /prod/ is that much like /gg/ they're mostly gear heads

been wanting a jp-8080 for the supersaw. currently own ms-20, yamaha cs-05, ensoniq esq1, roland d20, akai s2000 and a sensible size case of euro (also an octatrack and ableton). esq-1 is the synth i'd recommend to anyone, smooth as shit cem filter and all those great waves. anything from genuine classic analog to metallic hits. only setback is the shitty cpu which pretty much disables real time editing.

what's so bad about being a gear head? there's obviously no good reason for rdj to own three korg ps3300s for instance but he still makes lots of music. also my experience is that /prod/ is mostly daw exclusive "fWHY PAY YOU CAN JUST PIRATE MODULAR IS A MEME" people.

test

me too i gotta test as well

nothing, but they spend alot of time contemplating gear instead of practicing and making music

you don't need good gear to improve as a musician

GOD I LOVE TESTING SO FUCKING MUCH

>hiroshi has been awake for a full day and still hasn't fixed this shit

do something you dumb jap

Not soon enough

btw, how many "limited editions" of pic related are they gonna release, this is the last one and all I can say is:
at least its not transparent red or light blue

I like the transparent plastic 2000s style

this man walks up to in berghain, leans over, slaps your ass, and whispers in your ear
>i only work in the box

what do you do

agreed

I bought pic related a love it. So versatile and the keybed is amazing.

Never noticed the actual gear part but having a million redundant plugins in order to feel like you're progressing seems to be the norm there. In general the producing part is already dumb because the compositions are so stupid. Take for example that demarcus dude. He's been there for four years I think and his choice of timbres is still dungeon synth tier (nothing against dungeon synth). Most people there seem to lack ears or any musical feeling.

no one actually decent is going to post their music on the notorious mongolian basket weaving imageboard that is 4 channel.
