This

>deserving
Jimi Hendrix
Maybe Elvis
>somewhat overrated
Lennon
Jackson
>overrated
Cobain
Marley
Tupac
>embarrassingly overrated
Freddy AIDScury

Yikes. Like or hate Queen, the guy had physical measurable singing talent.

Same can't be said of the person you put higher, Cobain, who couldn't sing.

>Cobain couldn't sing
The guy had the best voice on the list, you faggot. Lennon's the only one who could even come close to Cobain's anguished screams. Your opinion is not fact.

>le he could sing meme
Doesn’t make his music anything but decent pop rock and he gets compared to actually great musicians by far more people than cobain, he’s also extremely overrated but nowhere close to Freddy Mercury
Plenty of shitty pop industry plants are also good singers, doesn’t make them worth taking about

Hendrix is deserving
Jackson and Cobain in the middle
Rest are overrated

I have a soft spot for Bob Marley. As overrated as he is, dude wrote some of the most universal bangers of all time.

michael jackson went thru so much for the sake of culture and profit

>people thinking elvis was deserving

fuck lol. he is the prototype for the manufactured pop star.

Awful.

So?

I'm not a huge Queen fan, but I recognize Mercury had an amazing voice despite being a typical pedo fag who I do not like, and Brian May was a killer guitarist and best part of the band as far as I'm concerned.

Talent is talent whether you like the music or musicians or not. I like plenty of musicians I would actually call quite untalented, but I like their music, No shame in that.

Cobain wasn't a talented singer. You can like his voice and shitty singing all you want, but it doesn't make him talented at singing.

Define talented at singing. He was on key, could hold a note for a long-ass time, was incredibly tonally dynamic.
To flip the script: You can dislike his voice and singing all you want, but it doesn't make him untalented at singing.

Based but Elvis isn’t that overrated

I was going to put him on the fence too (same as Tupac's level) but I ran out of room.

Some of his big hits can be a little corny, but Catch a fire is such a good album that it more than makes up for it.

objective facts right here

>Overrated
Elvis, Kurt
>Well deserved
Everyone else

Imagine thinking that Lennon didn't deserve the praise he gets

I honestly can't see how someone could not see Tupac as overrated. He never put out a truly great record, and is revered as some sort of prophet or martyr than a great musical mind.

the best of The Beatles was Macca and Harrison
outside of The Beatles he was a massive pretentious twat with very little redeeming qualities musically and as a human

but unironically

>the best of The Beatles was Macca and Harrison
John was by far the best songwriter of the band. Like, by fucking far.

go back to r*ddit

Embarrassing post.

Honestly the image is dead on, other than Marley

every one of them is overrated but lennon, cobain and hendrix at least somewhat deserve the praise

He looks like a skyrim character

>John was by far the best songwriter of the band. Like, by fucking far.
his best songs (Strawberry Fields, Tomorrow Never Knows, Day in the Life, etc.) wouldn't have been nearly as good if not for McCartney's contributions and experimentation

guess it's reddit to call out a pathetic human who abused people, was a deadbeat dad, and acted like a pretentious dumbass 24/7
also his solo career was shit

I fucking hate reddit.

>his best songs (Strawberry Fields, Tomorrow Never Knows, Day in the Life, etc.) wouldn't have been nearly as good if not for McCartney's contributions and experimentation
I agree. He's still the best songwriter. Your point doesnt prove me wrong (and it applies to almost every beatles song).

>guess it's reddit to call out a pathetic human who abused people, was a deadbeat dad, and acted like a pretentious dumbass 24/7
Go back to r*ddit. This is not for you. Your post is embarassing

>McCartney's contributions and experimentation
Which experimentations?

Agree except for day in the life. Pauls part is shit compared to the rest of the song.

I meant that almost every song wouldnt be half as good without the other members' contribution. It also applies to almost every Paul song.

Paul's only substantial contribution was on Tomorrow Never Knows. Although, therefore the tape loop idea was great, unfortunately it killed John's even better idea of the song concept.

Who?

>not knowing Tom G. Warrior

here's what i made.
i didn't put tupac or bob marley on my chart because i haven't listened to enough of their work to accurately say where they belong. hip-hop and reggae are genres i don't really enjoy so i didn't think it'd be fair for me to put them in one side or the other.
i put michael jackson as overrated because i find that his music has very little substance.
i put elvis as overrated because he was just a music performer. he didn't even write his own songs. king of rock n' roll my ass. that title should go to buddy holly or some shit.
freddie mercury is overrated because queen is just mediocre at best pop music.
i put kurt cobain in the middle because he's overrated in some ways but underrated in others i feel. he had a really great and unique voice, he had a very unique lyrical style with its strange, medical imagery, and he created unique pop music that blended pop-rock, punk, and hard rock perfectly. i also don't personally believe he really ever released a bad song. the main reason he's in the middle is because his guitarwork isn't very good and his hit singles are overrated. i am biased towards cobain though because nirvana was the band that got me into music.
john lennon is here for similar reasons as cobain. the beatles are fantastic pop music, but to pretend they're the best band ever seems foolish to me. i could see an argument for the best pop music group though.
jimi hendrix honestly probably deserves more praise than he gets. he's kinda just remembered as a really skilled guitarist, but there was more to his music than that. he had great lyrics, an iconic voice, and so much emotion in his music. he's probably the most talented person on this list.
