hey, its me. The generic djent kid with bareknuckle (tm) pickups in his Ibanez (tm) guitar. Haha, guess im gonna djent a bit later, you know, hitting them 0 and 1s. Oh you don't own an extended range 8 string multiscale fanned frets true temperament headless guitar with a killswitch and led inlays? Sorry don't even talk to me haha, check out this sweet octave finger tapping riff i just wrote i used my FractalAudios AxeFX III to get that delay haha you wouldn't know about it as its a professional musicians gear and very rare and hard to get did i tell you about my string gauge yet?
met a guy like that in uni he wore a sideways cap at all times and reeked of sweat
Noah Lee
Finally played a Gretsch streamliner today, it made me feel like Jack White.
Adam Torres
>tfw wanting a mayones regius 7 custom >shit is like 5k€ >fuck it, lets start small >check out what 7 strings are available for oh hey this ibanez RGDIX7 (tm) looks really nice >looks like a good cheap djent machine >i love finish >see post in djent shitposting group >everybody makes fun of my guitar >everybody says its bad and they would never pay more than 400$ for it >I feel personally attacked
if it wasn't for the shitty standard pickups it would be a decent guitar wouldn't it be /gg/?
>please don't boomerpost me
Oliver Robinson
Yea Forums made fun of my guitar choices too. They said Flying V was bad for beginners, that the BC Rich Warlock looked dumb, and that the Jazzmaster was gay.
I made a kind of cheat sheet for this lesson on an intro to jazz chords and I had a couple of questions.
Can you think of 9 and 13 chords basically as extensions of 7 chords? I.e. can you just replace 7s with them in a progression if you want a 'jazzier' sound?
Also, when I tried entering that 7b13 chord (bottom of the pic) in my chord editor, it called it a 7#5. Are these the same chords but jus called different names depending on the key?
to answer your question, just fart a log of kaka out of your kakabutt. It will be stinky and a little bit poopy, but that's okay.
Then rub it up and down your fretboard. Then re-approach your problem and see if you don't know the answer with a bunch of kakasmell on your hands.

really wish I could help but trying to learn jazz chords right now so am ignorant
Robert Taylor
Show me anything that uses a 5u4 not as a rectifier and we'll pretend you're not the hot faggot trying to reach for a semantic that we all know you are.
Lincoln Torres
>Can you think of 9 and 13 chords basically as extensions of 7 chords? Yes, that is what they are. >I.e. can you just replace 7s with them in a progression if you want a 'jazzier' sound? That is what jazz musicians do. >unsure of how a 7b13 might relate to a 7#5 You need to learn more theory if you want to play jazz. Godspeed, user.
Leo Mitchell
Anybody here who played the new fender player series telecaster? Are they any good?
Angel Sanchez
post your riffs on vocaroo, Bulb.

wow bro you're way off base Misha's riffs are unironically rad as fuck and are very complicated more often than not
Easton Wright
Thinking about picking up guitar as a hobby. Is Les paul special ii player pack good for beginners?
Jonathan Miller
I was wondering how long it'd take for weebs to take over /gg/ again
Well go give the company some money so you help them live
Ryan Cruz
it's implied with context clues
Jonathan Lewis
Take 5
Gavin Gray
Well then you're reading to much into it buddy. I was just amused by the fact that the last couple of threads didn't have weeb pictures and this one does.
Jacob James
Do you know the melody? Maybe post a recording of you playing the melody to the best of your memory.
This happened to me with "Blue Train". I used to hear it everywhere but could never remember the name of the tune.
Brody Nelson
4/5 post tabs pls
Oliver Taylor
>cognitive dissonance the post But i am happy about the guitar. I don't think i made a mistake buying it just cause other people got non justified / irrelevant opinions. It is an acceptable quality for 800€.
This was the only 7 string in my price range + i liked it anyways not feeling any cognitive dissonance.
>Well go give the company some money so you help them live i assume you are building your own guitars so the evil evil companies don't make money? What the hell was that stupid answer man
Henry Reyes
It has an upbeat intro similar to youtu.be/VeD8USz_jVg only played by one instrument and the rest of the Band joins in later. Also right before the intro ends, a short lick of five notes is played twice, followed by two ascending notes, followed by the lick twice again and then the rest of the band starts playing. But unfortunately I'm not nearly good enough at guitar to try and play it from memory
Wyatt Ortiz
Just fucking hum the melody into a vocaroo, this is an anonymous forum and nobody cares.
I have several thousand dollaridoos worth of gear, but I only ever play my Japanese Jaguar. I hope you and your guitar are very hapy together and have lots of babies.
I'm not, this is after all an anime foot fetishist forum.
Adam Long
Can these play more than Opeth and Santana?
Xavier Flores
The jazz posting is top notch itt
Adam Williams
How good is Fender's consistency when it comes to neck profile?
I tried out an MIJ Strat and an MIA Strat in store side by side the other day, both claim to have Modern C profile but the MIJ felt noticeably slimmer.
I Googled around and some sources say MIJ Fender will have different specs, even if on paper they're the same. Modern C in the States means something different to Modern C in Japanese markets.
It all comes down to the sandi g by individuals workers. The cnc spits em out all the same but the sanding is what varies from worker to worker. I cant say for sure but i would imagine most guys would have their own way that they feel is best to achieve results.
Grayson Peterson
I'm up to about $4k, but this is the only electric guitar I've been using lately. Feels like home. Some people want all sorts of guitars but I think the best feeling is making friends with one and having a best guitar friend. All the best to you and your jap.
I love the meat they have to their sound. the strings feel gratifying and every note feels like pure bliss.
If you're talking baritones, a standard 24 fret only has 1 upper octave that I dont. i dont miss it much. if you mean a Korean prs, well yeah you can play whatever the fuck you want. it's just a tool, I tend to agree more with the "you can play any genre on any guitar" people. but it would sound badass on some opeth or Santana for sure.
also, shout out to the bassists who try to play on visual cues and get confused because I'm tuned B standard.
higher tension or higher string gauge means harder to bend, you can figure it out from here right
Thomas Ortiz
Yeah, bends are significantly harder. I prefer it because it's harder to accidentally overbend lol. And stretching between frets is awkward sometimes. I have long fingers and play mostly baritone so it doesn't bother me at all. it's no feat of strength or dexterity to play baritone vs fender scale, just takes some getting used to. Gibson scale is for manlets.
fuck the haters I hope you enjoy your gookstick jcum
I originally wanted to play downtuned metal and didn't want to resting a standard. Turns out I dont play much metal but I still prefer the baritone for rock, blue, and everything else. it's a really full sound.
lol all this because I called you a broke bitch. Grow thicker skin senorita
Logan Flores
4 for 4 now? This is mighty fine prection posting. Tell me more about yourself
Joshua Price
Oh fuck he's a recurring villain now
Henry Harris
Hello /gg/, falling for the fishman meme. Can I use regular electronics solder when installing them since they’re constructed differently? Or should I still use leaded solder?
Brayden Parker
No one cares.
Elijah Cook
>senorita Is this samantha prohection posting again?
Luis Williams
It's basically the mexican "standard" so I don't see why it would be bad if you like telecasters
i know who i'm replying to, he mentioned that he plays his headless at the shop but i havent seen any pictures of it constructed.
Aaron Cooper
this thread was talking about tuners & pegs. some user said he only wound his strings once around the peg. a few of us asked about it because it sounded tranny gibson like advice, and user said that if you oil the pegs and the tension points of the bridge string anchoring point, it helped to tighten the strings up and they wouldnt slip. he also oiled the machines & i still cant believe, he said the oil the nut (i still dont get this) not surprising he got the advice from youtube.
and if youre here today, Hi so the rest of us memed the fuck out with LELz
...and dont forget to dip your guitar in oil
Bentley Murphy
He doesn't play it at the shop because it has never been constructed. He is planning to play it at the shop when it's completed, a few decades from now.
Jason Cox
Yeah he repeats the same lick over and over it's terrible
But I enjoy some of his stuff
No because it's not put together yet retard
That pic is from before I brought it to the Joiner last weekend
Lmao
Yeah, long months of suffering. It's gonna look different within this week, I promise
Jack Mitchell
You should put graphite on your nut and saddles tho
Eli Adams
That's kind of funny, but if you've never heard of putting graphite powder on your nut, I feel bad for you son etc
Matthew Clark
Stop user you'll make me cry
Carter Rogers
Youre so full of it dude.
Nathaniel Kelly
Oiling your machine heads and lubricating the nut and saddles (with graphite, not oil) is good advice, though.
>i hate tapping >i ate the AxeFX >i hate extra strings >picking is all you need >real pedals sound better >you don't need 8, there's no point, all the rock stars were fine with 6
I just screw them down and the strings stay in place lol
>he plays so fast that he makes mistakes This is the dumbest shit I've ever heard in my life, is he a little kid or something?
Brayden Myers
TIL oilposting is due to some retard misinterpreting valid advice from jcope pretty strange too, since I've never seen jcope give useful advice before
he has the mind of a small child, yes.
Anthony Young
Why it's so hard to keep time with one foot and tap a rhythm with the other, but it's easy to do the rhythm with hand
Nicholas Martinez
no it was oil you fags, not graphite OIL in fact user said it was RC motor oil or the like
btw you all play gibsons from brazil :D
Julian Cox
rebeccablacktech link
Luis Watson
It wasn't that, some retard said locking tuners were for retards who couldn't change strings. Someone told him he was stupid and the guy who hated locking tuners said all you had to do was lube the strings with RC car oil, making himself look even dumber.
Jayden Brown
It’s coming lads my Jazzmaster is coming!!!!
Joseph Morris
like i could fucking find it. some of us were here and it was sidesplitting eat a tranny if you missed
Thomas Rogers
Tell it to pull out, you don't want to get pregnant
Nolan Fisher
i hope his parents kick him out before then
Jack Hughes
and he said he oiled every tension point and thats when we figured, well fuck it, it was advised that we all oil so many parts why not JUST DIP THE WHOLE FUCKING THING IN OIL
Henry Gray
They will probably die. We just learned he has an older sister that looks like shes 40. Sam is 22. His parents gave birth to him at the last biological second. Theres plenty of evidence that shows the correlation between autism and birthing children late in life.
Ryder Butler
uhh this image is reserved for babies that cant afford Gibsons
Jaxson Ortiz
GUYS I MADE MY OWN SCALE
I took the important, unique part of the harmonic minor, which is the 5 6 7 8 interval, and repeated it. In the root of A it's: A C Db E F G# A
Adrian Wood
>he can't afford an 8 string strandberg
Daniel Watson
He touchy my boipussy while I play I wanna rock and roll all night and party everyday.
Cooper Campbell
>muh headcanon
Kayden Foster
Oiling all the tension points would definitely work. I'm pretty disappointed that jcope never told anyone to dip their guitar in oil.
Kevin Russell
motor oil on the nut.....? uuugh
Christian Ross
RC car oil would attract gunk and make it WORSE.
and the whole thing was made up because he was trying to justify not having locking tuners without admitting that he can't afford them
William Reed
i'm going to guess that you think math rock is innovative
Jace Kelly
I'm still pretty bummed that he never said "dip your guitar in oil". He says plenty of things that are much stupider than that, we didn't need to make one up.
Adam Morales
but user did say some expert guitar sage has a vid of it on yt so........
Anthony Anderson
we just say he did. we dont know it wasnt him without his trip. it does sound like something he would say
Jason Hughes
So we don't even know if it was jcope? That sucks.
Easton Bell
lmao so youre saying you dont own a Gibson, what a surprise
Austin Young
but you dont know it wasnt
Colton Rogers
I'm trying to learn Telstar by ear and a lot of videos I find online of Youtubers playing it use open strings. I've transposed it to not use open strings.
Is there a fundamental difference between these two measures? They sound the same but if you get down into the nitty gritty, does the string make a difference?
For a more extreme example, consider the high E on the 0th fret (open) and the low E on the 24th fret. Both are E notes but the timbre is different.
Well no. But it's much funnier when jcope does something stupid. It's less funny when someone who might not have been jcope doesn't actually say something stupid, but we pretend they did.
Ryder Sanchez
yes
Blake Hill
i'm already convinced jcope did say it.
Ian Green
Why would i tell anyoone to put their guitar in oil when im the only one on /gg/ that can afford dunlop 65.
Dylan Hall
best dadrock riffs to learn for a beginner?
i already have walk this way and smoke on the water. anything else?
Same reason you own two Deans, you're a fucking retard.
Isaac Ortiz
no wonder you oil your shit so much, that garbage dries your neck out lmfao stupid bitch i bet you think lemon oil is good
Jonathan Long
On the topic of oils.
>supposed to oil your fretboard once or twice a year according to my teacher >always did this with rosewood because it's porous and unfinished >"never oil a maple fretboard, user" because finished maple was the norm >don't know what the fuck to do with unfinished roasted maple
So don't oil it then, simple as. You know those 1959 Les Pauls boomers go apeshit over? Do you think someone's been oiling the fretboard every 6 months while it's been in storage for the last 60 years?
Chase Thomas
Not him but I normally use XL10-46. I picked up a NYXL set and will use it for my next string change. Any difference between longevity? Employee said I could bend easier with them.
Jacob Reed
The Gary Moore song?
Juan Davis
Bending is easier and you can go farther. They corrode was less than regular strings
Benjamin Foster
Block the bridge before you change strings retart.
A google search should do the trick, but I think music nomad F-one oil would work swing as it’s safe for maple, rosewood and ebony. Is the rest of your neck finished?
But if you take all the strings off or change tunings, you have to make your own smooth wood blocks to fit your specific guitar and setup.
Yes, tusq makes tone picks that actually work and cost almost nothing.
Chase Parker
Funnily enough, there’s a company called snake oil guitars
Josiah Green
The only radio station I listen to is Ozzy's Boneyard because it's all metal, hair metal, hard rock of the 70s, 80s, 90s.
Ted Nugent comes up a lot and I've never even heard of him before this. I've been playing guitar for 12 years, should I know of him by this point? I usually change the station because only Stranglehold is kind of good.
and why would you do that? t. also a floyd rose user
Jace Reed
>Tele with 7.25" radius, V shape, feels okay >Strat with 9.25" radius, Modern C shape, feels great >Strat with 9.25" radius, Deep C shape, feels bad >SG with 12" radius, whatever profile Gibson uses, feels bad >RG with 16" radius, Wizard shape, feels great
Why does the SG feel a lot more flat than the RG, even though the radius is much flatter on the RG? Why does neck profile matter when it comes to flatness? The 2nd Strat felt a shitload more flat, too, than the 1st one.
Nathan Bennett
It literally doesn't mater after 12".
Nathan Sanders
Its the easiest fastest way but only works if you replace with the same exact string gauge. And it saves me effort and time figuring out the proper string tension. So in theory if i get a new string tune it to high e with the same gauge your guitar should have the same tension as before thus be setup already assuming it was already properly set up
Jaxson Long
I just tried those a couple weeks ago. Convert for life
Prevents what is called “fretting out” on higher frets. As you bend the string, it may come into contact with higher frets that haven’t been properly leveled, causing the string to stop ringing
Brayden Price
>They said Flying V was bad for beginners, that the BC Rich Warlock looked dumb, and that the Jazzmaster was gay. I make fun of the people here a lot, but I've got to say that everything here checks out.
i can play guitar and all, but ive really plateued. dont know much about scales beyond pentatonic and cant make my own shit or do any complicated solos. i dont really know where to start for practicing, since alot of stuff is for people just picking up a guitar. should i memorize every note on the guitar so i can get a better picture in my headf and then pick up on scales and arpeggios from there?
Brandon Young
The blues is literally for faggy old white guys who wear a beanie in doors and think they’re somehow cultured or in touch with some deep part of life and emotions. Bunch of fags
Don't forget to rub Snake Oil™ into your fretboard for that lovely ripped-off feeling
Ian Gutierrez
what are some electric guitars to look in to for someone who is semi-proficient with classical guitar and likes the fingerstyle aspect of it?
i have played very minimally on electric and playing with a pick didint really seem to suit me though playing with fingers didint seem very comfortable either
Nicholas Davis
is it a good idea to sand a classical guitar's neck? I don't like glossy necks
Oliver Jackson
Randy rhodes v
Josiah Gonzalez
buy a lester. just dont fall for the figured maple top meme, an all mahogany lester is good enough.
Carson Johnson
Anyone know of any software like EZdrummer but for guitar/bass?
You could have been practising while you were making that.
Asher Johnson
Is there a better babbies first HSS guitar for $300ish than the Squier contemporary strat?
Lincoln Garcia
Maybe something from schecter or Jackson honestly
Thomas Sullivan
>he can't practice and shitpost at the same time git gud m8
Colton Adams
a pacifica is cheaper
Jayden Sanders
Continue to sum up /gg/:
>guy who wants gibson, can't afford: don't buy a gibson, they have QC issues >guy who owns a gibson, wife won't let him buy anything else: gibsons are the best guitars on earth. if you don't want one, you probably just can't afford it. >guy who owns multiple cheap guitars: you really don't need to spend more than $1000 on a guitar. you can get a perfectly giggable axe for $500. anything more is just excessive markup because the pickups are brand name. >guy who owns a kemper: kempers sound exactly like tube amps >guy who spent $1000+ on a tube amp: nothing beats real tube tone, idiot >PRS S2 owner: tonewood is real. same for tonefrets, tonenuts, tonesaddles, tonetuners... >PRS SE owner: it stands for student edition, not shit edition >ESP owner: ibanez costs half as much because it's half the guitar >E-II owner: it's a real ESP!
