Artists that only gained popularity thanks to the internet

Which artists can mainly thank the accessibility of music on the internet for giving them a huge boost in popularity? Plantasia and Sweet Trip are two examples of what I'm talking about. Bonus point for pre-internet era stuff.

BILLY EILISH

>left YouTube logged in to living room tv at parents
>find out I never logged out for like a month before I call them about it
>my recommendations are forever ruined by hair metal, sportscenter, late night talk shows, boomer tv vcr rips, celine dion, fishing videos, and disney songs amongst other things

I guess I could make a new account but dang.

sounds based, you'll get the dankest of obscure dadrock

No I pretty much just get Bon Jovi, AC/DC, and the like. I used to get stuff more like my taste but my parents use a smart tv a ton and their videos outnumbered mine pretty quick. YT is biased towards higher viewed stuff as well I think. I occasionally get a good video but it's harder.

i junked this for a toonie and sold it for 200 bucks

lol im very sorry

All Soundcloud rappers
All Vaporwave, Synthwave, Future Funk, etc. artists
Any highly obscure artist reviewed by Fantano
Billie Eilish
Anything from overseas

Based Boomer parents rinsing

they should all collaborate.

well i know that party rockin' and gangnam style definitely wouldn't have been mega-hits unless it was for the internet. those stupid m/vs on youtube are what a lot of hits are predicated on these days. this is america would be another example i guess

Explain?

Mort Garson’s always been popular if youve ever been curious about that “way out sounds” shit or even seen anything he did a soundtrack for but now he’s popular with people who are casual as fuck. But at least those people are listening to the album, ten years ago they would have just used one of his songs in an advert and maybe a normie or two would’ve actually downloaded the song but a whole album? Forget it

This guys channel is huge, see how many hits an upload gets before its even been online for a day

Lana Del Rey got famous because her homemade music video for Video Games went viral, right? I might be wrong but the way I remember it she quickly went from being completely unknown to semi-famous because of it.

Death Grips
