The album that helped me fully ditch the idea of listening or not listening to an album based on what I hear. I remember hearing loads of shit -- not like saying it was godawful but that it was just not worth listening to -- flung at it but when I decided to listen to it anyway I found out it was great.

Big letdown. I know it's not a drones release but it's not far from being one. At least they put out their first not-that-good album under a different band name with some non-drones members in on it so The Drones' rep as a band can stay as high as possible.

you might just be looking at through the lens of the Drones. I didn’t know them before I heard Meatspace, so I didn’t have anything to judge against it.
if you’re expecting it to be a Drones album, you’ll probably be disappointed but as an entirely new entity, it was very exciting to hear something like this (almost a decade after any worthwhile rock albums have been released)
