I actually don’t see a problem with the review, it’s just someone’s subjective opinion. So what all they are saying it’s its a bit like the earlier work, at least they are trying to put into words why they like it. Most people aren’t even capable of that.
Reading this review I am given absolutely no info as to what I should expect from it. The entire thing is pure masturbation. I mean if your idea of the perfect evening is to jerk off to some cuckold porn, close the pornhub tab, and then go on to watch some more verbal masturbation then sure, this shit serves a purpose. I can't imagine any sort of person with even a shred of sanity wasting even a moment reading the garbage heap that is RYM user reviews.

on one Byrds album there's a complete fucking nerd who has listened to original vinyl mono- and stereo-mixes and argues which one is better.
This is the type of shit that saves me tons of money.
It happens very often that I buy a stereo issue of a record, and it's garbage so I have to sell it.

An ok review of a review. It sounds a bit too angry to be objective, using too many buzzwords. But the point still stands. I particularly like to analysis of the line "fuck it, it's a 5" as a punchline. It should go more in depth as to how exactly the review fails to give any idea or information about what the album is, what is to be expected of it or what exactly is it that makes it good. Decent review, but could go more in depth.

I find this review of the review's review doesn't acknowledge the hypocrisy of the review reviewer accusing the original reviewer of using buzzwords and emotional rhetoric while doing so himself, arguably to an even greater extent and definitely in a more confrontational manner.
While the original review can be excused as a naive stating of subjective opinion that should have never been singled out as "highest quality output", the review review fails to live up to its own intellectual standards - thus, it is a textbook example of intellectual pretention.

When I look at a review I go on their profile page and I don't care about their opinion if:
A) Joined after 2015
B) Have their sexuality/gender stated in their "other comments" section
C) Pad their ratings out with singles
I can already tell by then that there's a good chance what I'm going to read will have been written by a retard
I don't think the review is that bad, but it's definitely written for those that have heard Slowdives earlier work. I think as a result, the review writes too much based on what he knows and makes too many comparisons, instead of taking an eli5 approach. If there are any good RYM reviews you can link as a good example I'll read them. I've only posted 6 reviews so far and they probably aren't that good.
I've heard their earlier work. The review is completely meaningless. There's literally 0 substance to it.

unpopular opinion: I don't care how my account looks and rate singles sometimes just because I believe very good singles should have enough high ratings to be bolded so music seekers can discover them. I consider it a serious flaw in the site that singles are so frequently ignored on it as to almost be useless just because people don't want to 'pad out their ratings.'
