This is more of an unpopular fact than opinion. The trash that is considered Yea Forumscore is shocking and the best one by far is Grace, which is a good album but not one I'd consider some masterpiece.
I'd add that Low is easily one of Bowie's bottom 5 albums, since listening to a bunch of sounds Brian Eno made while they were both of their tits on coke in Berlin doesn't make a good album when their are two good tracks.

I agree with everything here.

Poetry does not need a beat or instrumentation, hiphop lyrics do. If you remove the beat, the song is weaker for it. If you add beats and melody to a poem, the poem is not stronger for it.
While it is true that rap puts a heavy emphasis on lyrics, it relies on accompanying music to make its point. Im not saying one is better, they are just different because they rely on different tools to achieve their artistic messege

For reference, Im a grad student studying poetry btw. There are many other distinctions between the genres too but this isnt Yea Forums so i wont get into them here.
