If you want a classic thrash metal album with a similar sound check out hit em all by Metallica
Ah yes. I can never remember the name of their first album for some reason.
Obligatory. You're on a music board, so I would be utterly shocked if you hadn't already heard this album.

Metallic are old boomers lol, but if they sound a bit like King gizzard i might give them a try lmao.
So much thrash in this thread. This album really isn't that thrashy. There's a FEW thrash riffs here and there, but I hear more Motorhead and Sabbath than anything else.
Listen to Paranoid, especially the title track and Electric Funeral.

The album definitely leans more towards classic metallica than black sabbath.
>old boomers
Metal is a genre that peaked in the 80s, just like the British invasion did in the 60s and punk did in the 70s. It's an older genre. All of the best metal albums are going to be pretty old. Metallica went WAY harder than King Gizzard when they were young. Their first album is fast as fuck. They were all teenagers when they made it.
This basically a Black Sabbath cover song.

Metal is still going strong. It has yet to peak. 80s metal was utter trash, the genre only came into its own with black metal, metalcore and nu-metal of the 00's
Are you kidding? Gizzard have always been huge Sabbath fans, even as early as Nonagon Infinity and Murder Of The Universe. Stu loves to sing along to the lead guitar, just like Ozzy. There are parts of Balrog vs The Lord Of Lightning that sound just like Electric Funeral.
There is nothing wrong with boomercore

>80s metal was utter trash
This has to be bait. Some of the greatest metal albums of all time, across every subgenre, came out in the 80s. It was the most diverse and inventive time for metal. The NWOBHM was going strong with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, thrash was popping up in the bay area with Metallica and Slayer and Exodus, glam was big in the mainstream (for better or worse) with Motley Crue and Whitesnake dominating MTV, black metal was popping up in Europe with Venom, Hellhammer, and Bathory, death metal was forming in the US with Death, Possessed, Morbid Angel, and Obituary, doom bands like Pentagram and Trouble were reviving the old Sabbath sound. Metal fucking ruled the decade.
Just out of curiosity, is the new King Gizz album more or less your first introduction to Metal? If so, it's honestly not a bad introduction. I'm into quite a bit of Metal but I've been really into King Gizzard for a while now and I think they did a damn good job of making a legitimate Thrash Metal album. It feels like a bunch of musicians who have a genuine appreciation for the style and wanted to try their hand at it and they included some of the best elements from the golden age of the genre. Even the production is fantastic. I think the negative reaction the album has been getting from die-hard Metal fans is unfortunate. Is the album one of the best Metal albums of al time? No, but I don't really see anyone actually claiming it is.
Not bait. Black metal and death metal peaked in the 90s and the genre had time to develop well into the 00s.

This is an essential Thrash album for newbies. Surprised it hasn't been posted earlier.

I can maybe see an argument for extreme metal peaking in the 90s, but I still think the 80s extreme metal was more interesting. Nobody knew what the hell it was yet. It hadn't fallen into specific genre tropes yet. Nobody knew what "black" or "death" metal even meant back then. Metal didn't take itself so seriously. It was just a bunch of dudes trying to one-up each other and be the fastest and heaviest fucking band on the planet. It felt more genuine.
