Didn't know my sister posts here. I really hope she doesn't desu

The Man = Paper Rings = I think he knows = Cornelia Street > the rest

i listened to the leak but its low quality. At one point I thought she said "waving on cumming queens". I need FLAC or CD to judge.

WHO'S THIS WHITE GIRL? SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE TAKES HORSE COCK

Coal burning slut

hot

I couldn't go through a single track without skipping, shit sounded overproduced (despite the lack of interesting production) and corny as fuck. Lasted the longest for The Man, London Boy and It's Nice To Have A Friend. Now obviously I'm not the target audience but I did enjoy Reputation and 1989 way, way more.

Has someone photoshopped "Nigger" above "Lover" yet?

That's strange because I think most songs on reputation are overproduced, and I think this is a huge step up from reputation (in terms of subject matter, lyrics, and production). Like, I know the production is a little heavy on some tracks but at least the melodies are good, plus they're way 'lighter' than on rep, so the production doesn't feel as suffocating, in my opinion.

I think its good, liked it way more than reputation at release (love it now) my favourites for now are cruel summer, I think he knows, miss americana and paper hearts

She unironically did it again.
Another great album.
Cruel Summer is based

>I think most songs on reputation are overproduced
I don't disagree but overall they still tended to have some catchy parts here and there between the corny stuff. Take the chorus on "I Did Something Bad" the second part with the guy singing is pure cringe but Taytay's part sounds fun. Everything on Lover felt so generic and forgettable, and the production still drew attention to itself. But again, just after spending maybe ten minutes on the entire album, so I got a very incomplete picture so far.

Besides, pop is generally not my cup of tea, so I bet a lot of the melodies that are enjoyable for the intended audience are the ones that sound the worst to me. Like shit, LWYMMD, Haunted (acoustic) and I Know Places are probably my faves and from what I got, a lot of people don't rate these.

When it comes to subject matter, all I got was the whole love shit about the guy, without the "edgy" parts from reputation about her ... well, reputation (which were the most interesting parts for me on that album). And some tracks like Miss Americana sounded like something from reputation either way. When it comes to lyrics, I definitely didn't spent enough time on it even to have an opinion.

False Gods is kinda chill.

I like it more than I like reputation even now. It just never grew on me as an album, even if there are some songs I really like.
>miss americana and paper hearts
the real titles are "Miss Americana and the Hearbreak Prince" and "Paper Rings", I guess the person who leaked somehow messed up the titles in the files.

wtf this album is based how is this possible

Link?

H-how do you even mess up titles like this. What the hell.

its already all uploaded on taylors youtube

Holy shit, based Taytay uploaded her entire album. That's kinda cool.

Oh ok

Holy shit watching everyone cope with their shitty King Gizzards worst album or IGOR forced memes when this was the undisputed AOTY, or do you think Tool will save you? hahaha

We are in the worst timeline embrace it, Taylor is Queen and Lord.

I'm listening to the real thing. I didn't listen to Reputation because of how bad Look What You Made Me Do was, so this time I decided to stay away from the singles at all costs.

I just finished The Man and I have very little hope this album will redeem itself. So far, it has definitely been one of the worst albums to ever fuck my eardrums. With each passing day, I am more and more convinced that 1989 was a fluke and this stupid whore is a talentless piece of shit.

>Take the chorus on "I Did Something Bad" the second part with the guy singing is pure cringe but Taytay's part sounds fun.
Funny that you mention this song because that's the main song where I think the production is just too much. I just can't take that chorus seriously, and it's not because of the rattatatata (which is actually Taylor's voice altered) it's because of the dumb bombastic production behind it.
>Everything on Lover felt so generic and forgettable
I agree with this in that most songs on Lover sound like something that already exists, and are pure bubblegum pop, but to be honest I still prefer it to reputation's tryhard production and "hooks".
>Like shit, LWYMMD, Haunted (acoustic) and I Know Places are probably my faves and from what I got,
This makes sense if you like the darker tone of rep. I guess I understand.
>without the "edgy" parts from reputation about her ... well, reputation (which were the most interesting parts for me on that album)
honestly I never felt like reputation actually did much with the theme in any meaningful way. Like, she would mention it sometimes in End Game, Call It What You Want, etc. but I think the only two tracks where she actually talked about how she felt about the whole ordeal were Dancing With Our Hands Tied and Getway Car. All the edgy songs (LWYMMD, IDSB, etc) just felt like theatrics to me, I don't think they were supposed to be her sincere take on it.
As far as the lyrics on Lover goes, I haven't really understood them all yet but the parts I have are much better than the average track on rep in terms of making me feel things. I guess rep just felt like an act to me.

I'm curious what you'll think of these tracks

This is gonna get 8.5 bnm from pitchfork, cap this

A fluke? You know Fearless also won album of the year.

Paper Rings is her most fun song ever.....and I think it will have the most appeal to adults and kids

I assume you mean the Grammy's? I wouldn't know for sure because they managed to lose credibility before I was fucking born. Love Story is a good song, but as for the rest of it, sorry I'm not into shit-country.

>‘soon you’ll get better

How can someone not like Forever & Always, or Fifteen?

Shit is is not good for her mental health if she does that song live more than once.

The lyrics to False God confirm she’s a sex addict. Gotta respect that.

Did you never listen to Dress? Or So it Goes? it's been known

Yeah but u feel it for real now.....the other songs were just about sexuality within a relationship; this song is saying sexuality is what mattered

BLACK
COCK
SLUT

It’s amazing how mindfucked she got by this one guy. These songs sound like someone who would off herself if he dumped her.

I guess he’s just really nice and puts her first and deals with her shit.

Paper Rings = I Think He Knows > The Man = Lover > Dogshit rest of the album

I can't believe Yea Forums is actually having a serious discussion about this teeny bopper shit.

who is the one guy?

joe alwyn

Goddamn was the first half of this album way better than the second half

just got to "the man"
something about the biggest popstar in the country for the 2010s, complaining about her disadvantages, is a little odd.
the album is so far better than reputation though

If you judge pop music in its context you can have a discussion. Not everything has to be meme rap or mumblecore.

When it comes to Taylor Swift, I discount any review NOT written by a straight male, because everyone else is in her demo.

It’s a straw man, because dudes really never celebrate dudes that live it up like DiCaprio..... we hate them

>it's because of the dumb bombastic production behind it.
I mean, yeah, it was really very in your face, especially the first part. Felt almost like a parody but at the same time, it gave the album something distinctive.
>honestly I never felt like reputation actually did much with the theme in any meaningful way
Oh absolutely and that was the most disappointing thing about it for me, but at least there was a hint of a theme and an attempt to say more than "omg, I love this guy so much". Besides I see the theatrics and the "it felt like an act" aspect as meta, where we as listeners were supposed to be aware of it. Just because something is "performative" doesn't mean it lacks sincerity, only that it's more curated.
>in terms of making me feel things
Didn't get much of that on rep either, so I guess there is something to look forward to for the re-listening. It's not like it can be any worse than the first impression.

It's just a typical high when you're in love and your world appears to resolve around that one person. Normal people only annoy their close friends with it instead of writing music, so they don't don't come off as obsessed.

If T Swift had better lyrics for this album, it would be SO fucking great.

Attached: emote (1).png (116x113, 21K)

She has definitely mastered melodies and communicating complex young woman emotions.

Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince is what I listen to Taylor Swift for. The rest of the album is so-so. Feeling a strong 6, maybe a light 7 on this one.

Attached: j2ynn8hafl101.png (1819x783, 1.84M)

>something about the biggest popstar in the country for the 2010s, complaining about her disadvantages, is a little odd.
I think she's mostly talking about the way the media portrays her, not about her success. Specifically about her 'feuds', her relationships being scrutinized (and criticized) and stuff like her sexual assault case. Honestly I was prepared to roll my eyes at it but it ended up among my favorites.

>at least there was a hint of a theme and an attempt to say more than "omg, I love this guy so much"
This is very true, Lover doesn't really have a narrative, but I still like how it feels more like it's actually about her life instead of just playing a role.
>Besides I see the theatrics and the "it felt like an act" aspect as meta, where we as listeners were supposed to be aware of it. Just because something is "performative" doesn't mean it lacks sincerity, only that it's more curated.
That's a good point, but I guess I just like the "I'm a normal person with relatable experiences" kind of stuff better.

>complaining about her disadvantages

lol yeah , leo goes yachting in San tropez and poor oppressed taytay fly's to the caribbean in her private jet.

Just finished the whole thing.

I Think He Knows was extremely annoying. Cornelia Street was horribly generic.

Paper Rings was the best thing on the album, but the bar was set incredibly low. Soon You'll Get Better was a very distant second.

I don't even want to think about The Man... I mean I just can't believe this is a fucking song. It's embarrassing and lacks even more self awareness than the train wreck that Look What You Made Me Do.

Seriously 1989 was the first and only thing from Taylor that ever showed she even had a shred of self awareness. And then Kanye and Kim embarrassed her into oblivion and everything since then has been a misguided horror show. I don't even know if I hate this album, I just fucking feel sorry for her at this point. Her career has been a goddamn disaster for years now, and unfortunately I don't see this sorry state of affairs ending anytime soon

It's worse than reputation and desu

I was truly looking forward to some degenerate end-of-summer capers soundtracked by the new Taytay but this is just unlistenable in its saccharinity! Looks like I’ll have to turn toward my girl Missy!

Evil trips of truth...

>These songs sound like someone who would off herself if he dumped her.
haven't you ever listened to any of her post-country shit? this is the norm.
she's an obsessive daydreamer; projecting her cathy/heathcliff bullshit ideas of love on her own life. meanwhile absolutely forgetting how completely unfit as a partner she's become, thus always truly flabbergasted about why some david beckham tier vapid dude left her.

album sounds meh btw

cornelia st, false god, cruel summer, so many good tracks

Attached: asd.jpg (540x540, 52K)

I listened to it. It sounds like... a Taylor Swift album. Not fantastic but not bad. As long as it makes Billie Eyelash irrelevant I'm happy.

>Cruel Summer (GOOD Music album)

Attached: whatthefuck.gif (500x281, 796K)

>As long as it makes Billie Eyelash irrelevant I'm happy.
you do know this won't happen in the slightest, right? completely different demographics

Not really. Billie has become a pop artist and is pretty much competing with Taytay and Ari.

billie's audience is comprised of nothing but hip-hop loving zoomers
taylor's audience is comprised of mentally regressing almost-boomers

It's a t swift album, if you've enjoyed her other stuff post-Red, you'll enjoy it

Definitely better than Reputation. Cruel Summer, Paper Rings and Daylight are the peak tracks

cruel summer - 8/10

max martin save me

This, lol.

Best tracks are
The man, nice to have a friend, death by a thousand cuts. Musically-wise.

it’s nice to have a friend is the worst thing ive ever heard

cornelia street being self produced is surprising

the album is so shit it's unbelievable

You'll be shit out of luck, the pop era Swift rode is over and she's out of touch with the zoomer zeitgeist. I've no idea where Billie will be in a year, but at this point she utterly BTFOed Swift in terms of streaming, charts and youtube when you compare both their new releases.

Uh, it's the best track on the ablum, doesn't sound like a computer generated trash for once.

>And then Kanye and Kim embarrassed her into oblivion and everything since then has been a misguided horror show.
That was one of the funniest things that came out of 2016 and I swear it broke her brain. She'll still be referencing it when she's in her 40s.

Attached: hu8bl9oxu4i31.jpg (960x1280, 132K)

I came here expecting sexy webms of taylor. Fuck you guys.

a 20+ year old TS without max martin is like a blind man without a stick

she doesn't know wtf she's doing, that's one of the worst albums I've ever heard

Jesus Christ, I'm not even halfway through and i want out. Why is it so long if it has no substance? I was expecting better, for some reason. This feels like the dollar store version of EMOTION.

Here you go, bud.

Attached: 1541707858018.webm (1000x1286, 2.88M)

I don't believe those diaries are legit.

But yeah they broke her alright, you'd think that'd teach her not to falsely paint herself as a victim

wtf are you talking about
1989 kills this bullshit + reputation

this shit is just reputation part 2 and it's shit

lackluster release from tay, lover, miss americana, paper rings, cornelia street, false god and afterglow are the only listenable songs. What is she doing

it's a huge drop in quality from red & 1989

4/10 for me

He should learn to get his suits fitted, nothing more disgusting than a man in a poorly fitted suit

Attached: TstWD2q.jpg (584x772, 64K)

She needs to stop working with Jack Antanoff.

>expected dream poppy, dressed down, guitar and raw vocal focused album
>it's more overproduced shit and has multiple terrible songs
>she also keeps doing literally the same things in most songs
I just listened to Paper Rings. At least that's good. As are the singles, except Me. The Man is horrific. Cornelia Street is good so far, thankfully. Rest is generic.

Really wanted that bubblegum Mazzy Star Tay album. She just needs to revisit her song writing process because she uses the same structures and tricks constantly. One hook, and she lazily writes a song around it. She ends every line with the same lilt, she leads up to most choruses with the same fast talk. Also, she cucked out for the kike media machine.

Anytime an artist does this it just signals to look out for the shitstorm when they break up, with Tay of course that's inevitable. Just imagine a fucking Taylor Swift divorce album.

Lover has officially replaced New Year’s Day as her best song, holy fuck.

Is Reputation Taylor’s Yeezus?

This post is underrated

New years day isn't her best
Yes especially with that blatant wannabe edgy "rap" ready for it?

bananarama cruel summer > taytay cruel summer

You’re right, Lover is now.

New Year’s Day is the third best album closer of all time after Desolation Row and A Day in the Life.

well he is kind of a stud. This is what all of /fit/ wishes they could be but instead of to lift just to be barely average

It can be if you chop it down to 10 tracks.
I do something like this:
1. ...Ready For It?
2. End Game
3. Gorgeous
4. Delicate
5. New Year's Day

6. So It Goes...
7. Dress
8. Dancing With Our Hands Tied OR King of My Heart
9. Call It What You Want
10. This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Dude....no. Wow.
And FWIW, Begin Again is a better tune than New Year's Day. Shiiiit, even Clean might be!

imagine actually listening to the whole thing

Reputation is better ngl

What’s everyone’s P4k prediction? I’m thinking 7.8.

Reputation is her magnum opus but this is a hell of a follow-up.

requesting this

Attached: lover.jpg (600x600, 29K)

Low effort, you could have at least used a pink cursive

bump

6.7 max from p4k
this is mostly formulaic and bland

>9.7

They'll mostly discuss how she featured one of her (black) dancers in the video.

Hot take: 'London Boy' is cringe-worthy cultural fetishisation and had the subject been Brazillian, Ghanaian or Japanese there'd be a 1000 thinkpieces from Woke Lib publications talking about how Not OK it is.

Taylor hasn't gotten flack for the black guy in the lover video so I think

No it's not her best album

what are her best songs? haunted acoustic version for me

Cornelia Street was bad, it's not ME! or YNTCD-tier bad but still. the last 3 tracks and Lover were good. rest is eh. 5/10 at least it's better than Reputation

...

Everything she writes about is essentially cringe-worthy fetishisation, from culture to men and relationships. It'd be hard for anyone to be offended by something that juvenile.

i can't tell if you're the same fag from that rateyourmusic comment but or if you're a fag posting bait
either way suck a dick fag

This is Taylor's Views from the 6
Critics will say its her most open and vulnerable album when in reality its a long boring single song chopped in 14 pieces and some kids movie single shit sprinkled in

Lover

This is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

Roughly in order

this is bait. reputation sucks ass.

I'd have my own list but it's hard to narrow it down.

Hard disagree on New Years Day and Nice Things. Both super weak imo.

Any list that doesn't have "Clean" is automatically invalidated.

Speak Now and Fearless are untouchable GOATS. How does it even stack up to red, rep and 1989?

Its awful

fuck you

This Love, State of Grace, Holy Ground, Clean, Forever & Always, Last Kiss

The moon is high, like your friends were the night that we first met
Immediately kickstarts my mood

In a sense it’s her only true album - the only one that is actually improved by listening to it in order.

I just love her flirty playfulness on Nice Things. New Year’s Day is the most tender love song she ever wrote.

Clean is good.

Attached: The prophet hath spoken.png (550x476, 42K)

Fearless is probably her worst, almost all filler. Speak Now is where she came into her own with country pop.

Delicate Spotify single is good

oh sweaty, this is ugly. don't post it again, sis.

Taytay raked in almost $400 mil over the past 4 years. She’s not done yet bros.

Why does he sign his tweet? His name is literally at the top of the tweet

Stop shilling for TayTay

What does it have to do with her musical ability? Popular =/= good.

I'm built like her and I'm a guy

the title track prerelease single was misleading. this entire album is standard fare Antonoff soft pop.

I remember a leak claiming the album would sound more like archer and lover but it turned out to be a me/yntcd abortion

Antonoff productions are the aural equivalent of drinking lukewarm tap water. I dont know what she sees in him.

if anyone wants a taytay picture starter pack after this album, here you go

>I'm so sick of running as fast as I can, wondering if I'd get there quicker if I was a man

Holy fuck this album is terrible.

Attached: 0886 - k55GLz8.jpg (251x242, 12K)

hey hey hey now. antonoff with lorde/lana has been amazing. it's that taylor's run out of creativity for now.

No disrespect to Carly Rae Jepsen but if this was recorded by her or another indie pop darling you'd be sperging out all over this board and it'd be like 3.92 on RYM
but it's Taylor so instead it'll sold 1 million copies over a weekend and your sisters will play it on repeat driving you mad
Overall solid 8/10

I hear you. Nice Things is super playful. I was hating on the lyrics but it's got other things to offer.

And I'm glad you find New Year's Day so emotional. I like the song but it doesn't hit nearly as hard as most of her earlier slow songs for me.

You're saying this like 1989 wasn't one of Yea Forums's favourite pop albums. There's like 5 really good songs on the album and the rest are barely passable or outright bad.

Listening rn. currently on track 5, pretty good so far.

Attached: 42012.jpg (1600x1199, 259K)

I love this. Her best album since “Red.”

It's catchy though and that's all that matters in pop

Because he's a fucking retard

agreed, it's pretty good

Attached: Screen_Shot_2019-08-23_at_1.42.56_AM.png (340x301, 35K)

Taylor has always been polarizing for the Yea Forumstants - there've been waifufags, some genuine fans but the majority of anons either didn't give a crap or actively disliked her for being a poster child of mainstream $$$$-fueled pop
I personally loved 1989 and Red, enjoyed some bits of Speak Now and Fearless even though I thought it's too feminine for me. Reputation for me was Taylor trying too hard to stay relevant in a trap-infused music world, ended up being an 4/10 generic album, with only a few highlights(Delicate, Getaway Car, New Year's Day)
Lover OTOH is full of good/great songs, it's funny how people are complaining it's too long but when asked which song should be removed they give totally different answers.
This is also because it's really diverse(but unfortunately not that much cohesive, which is I suppose my main objection):
1. I Forgot That You Existed - poppy R&B like early Ariana
2. Cruel Summer - emotional synth pop, like CRJ
3. Lover - far better version of Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud or poor's man Mazzy Star
4.The Man - vibrant and playful electro pop, makes me think of Carly's LA Hallucinations
and the list goes on and on...
this diversity makes Lover a catch-all album but also the one with many skips for an average close-minded listener
The main cons, apart from its inconsistency is lack of adventurousness, Taylor wanted to play it safe and clearly preferred delivering a good album to risking too much in an attempt to create something truly great

(sorry for my broken English, also I'm tipsy so this message is probably as incoherent as Lover itself)

It's not as conceptually cringy as Reputation, but it still has its moments (Me, You Need to Calm Down, The Man). Lover is a very likeable song. Soon You'll Get Better and Paper Rings were nice, albeit probably too long. Speaking of too long, WHY does this album have 18 songs on it?

You people obviously don't understand dramatization as a form of creativity. Did you not listen to Melodrama? Women are all melodramatic, they don't mean everything they say, it's all about the feels.

>WHY does this album have 18 songs on it?
streaming numbers

>tfw it wasn't dreampop Tay like Lover made you think

Ironically the most "dreampop" tracks are the weakest too

b-bros.....I like it

Attached: 1307576777001.jpg (200x189, 12K)

Honestly, Cornelia Street was all I needed to know that Taylor can still write great storytelling-type songs.

Why did Taylor Swift cross the road?

To receive over 400 music industry awards, release seven critically acclaimed albums and 50 singles before she turned 30.

Alexa play Boss Ass Bitch

A priest, a rabbi, and Taylor Swift walk into a bar. The priest orders red wine, the rabbi orders white wine, and Taylor Swift goes on to receive over 400 music industry awards, release seven critically acclaimed albums and 50 singles before she turned 30.

That’s what feels the most refined about this album. She’s communicating the same emotions as usual, just in better words.

>Her career has been a goddamn disaster for years now
Um you what m8

is this a new spaghetti?

Oh shit, didn’t she try to pretend that conversation didn’t happen? Did normies care about that?

I really like about five songs on each of her albums, which is much more than most other artists I listen to. The other songs are still listenable though.

It’s not just that it’s unique in her discography, it’s the contrast it has to the rest of the INDUSTRIAL POP album. Kind of like how on TVU&N I’ll Be Your Mirror is a sweet love song in the middle of the rest of tracks about drugs, bondage, and prostitution, or how Yesterday was a solo guitar piece with a string quartet in the middle of the usual upbeat love songs on Help.

What earlier slow songs do you like? The only one that hit me was Never Grow Up. I never found the songwriting particularly good in most her early ballads.

Last Kiss
