What's the most universally liked album?
What's the most universally liked album?
Probably Thriller or something
probably a love supreme honestly. i don't know a single person who doesn't at least think it's good.
I feel like that album takes a bit too complex for an average listener. I would go with The Court of the Crimson King.
Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink
and maybe Comus - First Utterance
A lot of zoomers and people who don’t listen to music a lot haven’t heard a love supreme. I think an album with a lot of hits you hear on the radio or in movies would be more loved, like Led Zeppelin iv or thriller
That's a good pick. Maybe Songs in the Key of Life.
A lot of people don't like prog.
LZ was hated by critics and Thriller is probably too poppy for a lot of this board.
It’s air headed hippy trash. Worth about as much as healing crystals.
In the Court of the Crimson King
A Love Supreme
Loveless
Remain in Light
Blonde on Blonde
Hounds of Love
Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Bitches Brew
Vespertine
Hot Rats
>for a lot of this board
the question was 'universally liked' not 'liked by Yea Forums'
>people on Yea Forums don't count as people
Some Beatles garbage probably.
Remain in the light
>A lot of people don't like prog.
but everyone likes Caravan
There's is no melody or anything catchy to ground it. Basically me questioning what is music and why listen to this. It's all notes all over the place. It doesn't make sense.
Fuck A Love Supreme. No depth.
ive never seen anyone hate on 98.12.28
Disliking the Beatles is a pretty common form of contrarianism
Cringe
It has a lot of depth, it just went over your head. Which is an impressive feat, considering it's most people's first "weird" jazz album.
I don't like it because I don't like jazz
I haven't met someone who seriously dislikes Abbey Road. It's got something for everyone.
unironically yes
most people don't like jazz
same goes with prog
it's probably something bland and easily accessible like OK Computer
Thriller. Easily. Every song from that album was a hit.
A lot of Millennials and Zoomers probably don't even realize that they've heard the entire album through the radio at some point.
Dark Side of the Moon, easily.
I mean, even Scaruffi likes it.
It’s one of these or maybe one of the Beatles’ albums.
Any Beatles song that uses a suitar gets skipped
the type of out of touch autist who yanks the aux chord at a party to play some scaruffi core shit that makes everybody in the party wonder how on earth he got invited
I like prog and these are both overrated trash
Talking Heads - Remain in Light
Can - Future Days
The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
wrong af doggie
Holy shit, imagine have this shitaste.
it really feels like about 90% of the people in this thread have no idea what "universally liked" means
This but unironically
a lot of people hate it
I know I do. overrated piece of long-outdated garbage. The vocal harmonies, "Wouldnt it be Nice" and "God Only Knows" are the only good things on the album, and god knows vocal harmonies aren't enough for a song to be good
All blues
Cringe but true
Nigger there isn't even an "universally liked" song, much less an album.
what's your favorite prog album?
>calling any music "outdated"
Lmao
dogshit take on a god tier album
I love this album...
this is in my top 10
t. soulless ghoul
Pet Sounds
Dark Side Of The Moon
Remain In Light
Nevermind
bait
All eyes on me -2pac
This applies to all of jazz
Can - Tago Mago
Henry Cow - In Praise of Learning for specifically English prog
Jazz is ultimately nihilistic, sexualized pop music. Coltrane made it worse by combining it with new age nonsense in an attempt to give it the appearance of personal feeling and depth.
I honestly think it’s the worst album ever made.
2/10
0/10
I’m being entirely sincere. Even at its best, Jazz is garbage made primarily for shallow consumption.
>in b4 some formalist “musician” schmuck tells me how complex and meaningful it is
Sounds like you put on Citizen Kane at a party and got laughed at, so you blamed the movie instead of yourself.
it be what it be
who the fuck puts on a movie at a party?
Electric Ladyland. Hendrix is the embodiment of an artist that's only disliked by uninformed contrarians.
hahaha you actually don't know, holy shit
oh yeah...
I love the instrumentation, but lawd Bernard's vocals....
You seem like the type that’s into healing crystals and incense.
I do like incense..'tis true.
Love you to, Norwegian wood, Within your asshole
They’re all at least decent songs
about the super secret total loser movie parties? no, I wasn't aware
Easy
By everyone in general? Probably Thriller. It’s the highest selling album of all time and the whole album was full of hits. Even if it isn’t everybody’s favorite, you’d be hard pressed to find somebody who dislikes it for any reason besides being contrarian. I’d throw Dark Side of the Moon in the running too, simply for how long it stayed on the charts, and the fact that it similarly isn’t disliked by anybody aside from contrarians.
Prolly albums like Rumours, Frampton Comes Alive, Dark Side of The Moon.
Thriller sold a lot, but even when it came out, there were lots of MJ haters. People that thought of him like people thought of boy bands in the 90s.
how's the first week on rym?
this just goes to show you listen to music purely for personal fashion
t. metalhead
I just don't feel the "soul" marketers so desperately want to convince me exists.
are you open to the possibility?
Its crazy because when they click you get songs like ceremony, regret, procession etc. Then you get songs like face up where he barely hits a single note all ch orus
No such thing because there will always be contrarians. Once something gets popular enough to be "universally" considered in any regard there will be a large amount of contrarians shitting on it. Closest thing to universally like would either be a classic rock album or something like YouTube side bar core.
