I'm sorry but some of these bands are so completely obsessed with having a constant feed of stupid shit like random singles and features and one off gigs never actually deliver a thematic album with a challenging or thought provoking aesthetic It's just not a good way of doing things. This is how things are actually supposed to work:

1: make a great album
2: tour until you are kinda sick
3: go away for at least a year to work on new material
4: come back having more or less reinvented yourself possibly with or without alienating portions of your fanbase
5: repeat 2 3 and 4 until you die

I feel like the pressure is really on these days to be constantly in the spotlight (duh) and it must suck to go away for a while to work on an album only to come back with new material but no one gives you a good review because you didn’t play the social media game and people stopped caring. So you turn to being in the spotlight all the time and as a result your songs start to suck too.
