I bought a guitar used and it was set up for 11-56s. I normally use 10-46s. I'd stick with the 11-56s but the string tension is just too high making bends difficult.

I ordered them online and only afterwards read that lots of people had problems with them,so I was kind of shitting myself but they are great. So I acquired the body and neck of an 80s Kramer Striker, and decided to keep the neck cause the body is glued-up chinkwood. try learning simple distinctive melodies first. hum the sound, get a feel for what notes are higher or lower, and what notes in the melody are the same. try different notes on the fret board. most of the time it will be in a diatonic scale (minor or major) so it gets easier if you know your scales too. try, melody to daft punk: da funk , smurfs theme tune, any tv show tune you like. etc. learning the chords may be a little more difficult, you will have to get familiar with the sound of each chord, it's made even more difficult with effects and weird tricks different guitarists do, some times you have to watch them play it or get a tutorial. have fun.
