Being in metal where edginess and violence is considered cool
Memes and internet culture. Nobody cared about Burzum in the 90's and hardly in the 00's.
i know this is bait but just in case: fuck off poser
Even though I like some of Varg's work, I feel like he wouldn't be as widely remembered if he didn't kill Euronymous.
what's happening to him now that his demented YT channel has been cancelled? reduced to being a meme on Gab? or twerk on the Cure for tiktok views?
he's been doing farm stuff
Dungeon synth? The blueprint for BM was laid down earlier. Plenty of other releases outside Burzum, too.
He did not define the genre. He was part of it and released what is, in my opinion, by and far the best of the second wave black metal by a mile, but to claim he defined it is insane. Euronymous deserves a fuck ton of credit for helping to create what we know of black metal aesthetically and Darkthrone essentially defined the black metal sound with A Blaze In The Northern Sky. Even Varg agrees that Darkthrone made the 'first' black metal album.
Not that user, but they aren’t wrong
Burzum was not a thing. I worked at several metal record shops through 90s
he's on twitter denying modern population genetics findings
he LARPs as Gandalf on twitter
twitter.com
before burzum? eeeeeer no sweetie?! Dark Ambient/Neoclassical Darkwave isn't Dugneon Synth.

this is like an AIM user from 1999
the most baffling thing is that he's less crazier than his wife
Posting shit like this on Twitter.
Dungeon synth is to metal as chiptune is to music
>hardly in the 00's.
Teenager
LITERAL WHO
might be misreading this tweet by his wife but i think she's saying she doesn't wean her kids until they're 7
No idea what I'm reading here, but Burzum did influence the whole dungeon synth thing at least.
>i know this is bait but just in case: fuck off poser
It's not bait zoomer. Burzum were literal who's in the 90s everywhere outside of Scandinavia until the internet age truly became a thing and WOAH THIS GUY WAS SO CONTROVERSIAL MEMES MEMES MEMES OVER ROMANTICIZATION OF A SCENE THAT WAS AN UNDERGROUND NICHE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND WASN'T RELEVANT AT ALL OVERALL
Pantera was big in the 90s for metal. Burzum was not. Hell, if you want to limit the discussion to "XTREEEEEEEEEM" metal, Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel and Deicide were all bigger too.
Imagine that nip length
Burzum was def big in the Black Metal scen--
>Deicide big in the 90s
stopped right here
>literal who's
>plural
one more for good measure: fuck off poser
Wake me when he makes underground swimming pools and catches giant fish with nothing but a shovel.
Samoth and Euronymous were in Burzum for 3 minutes. Lrn2BM pleb
You own no vinyl, poseur. Stop role playing as a 90s metalhead, I was one, you weren't.
Deicide was BIGGER than Burzum in the 90's, all death metal was, and they had some noteriety due to Satanic panic.
Saw lots of Deicide shirts on edgy kids, no Burzum shirts were ever seen too often in the USA until the late 00's when Varg became a meme. Facts.
wtf is vargs problem
did anybody else watch that dumb movie
>shirts
>edgy kids
that's the problem here, that you judge the impact and legacy of musicians through this kind of audience.. Your facts are shit anyway: black metal was ignored in the 90's in America (still obsessed by 80's old genres eg. death metal bands you cited), NOT in Europe: BM was thriving in Scandinavia, France, etc and Brzum was def a known reference.
I mean, you compare the meme "satanic panic" to European crimes (church burnings, murders, cemetery desecrations, etc): USA was one step behind
The man created the best combination of ambient and metal
