STELLA
>17 years
kinda depressing desu, but this album is still as amazing now as it was when I first listened to it in 2000 as a young teen
was a diver and she's always down....
when she walks down the street
my favorite album. name a flaw.
am I retarded for not liking the remastered version better
it's your favorite album
I heard the bass player of this band is pretty good, which song is the best representative of his work?
specialist
PDA, The New, Evil, Obstacle 2
Stella was a Diver
>"I remember Carlos making, well, I thought he was making a joke at the time, he made a joke that the album should be called 'Celebrated Basslines of the Future'. Looking back now, I guess it was almost prophetic."
I'd never call an album kino but this one kind of fits the bill
Evil
Was*
"the subway is a porno" is a stupid fucking lyric
You're not from New York City, you flyovers wouldn't understand.
not even the worst line on the album.
honestly i love totbl to death but seriosly, paul banks lyrics are fucking awful
WE CAN CAP THE OLD TIMES
PLAYING ONLY LOGICAL ROLLS
WE CAN CHECK THE OLD DUBS
PLAYING ONLY LOGICAL ROLLLLS
they're not all bad. just super inconsistent. but the same is true of avey tare and I say that even as anco is a top-3 of all time band for me.
anyway my point is I like the lyrics on leif erikson
Well then hook me up and throw me baby cakes
'Cause I like to get hooked
I CAN'T PRETEND
I NEED TO DEFEND
SOME PART OF ME FROM YOU
people get on and get off the subway just like they do with porn
BUT SHE CAN READ SHE CAN READ SHE CAN READ
>when the drums and bass kick in on untitled
I fucking adore Say Hello To The Angels man
such a feel good album
Middlebrow trash
This. This album contains some of the best and worst lyrics I've heard. Sometimes in the same song. It's pretty strange.
She puts the, she puts the weights into my little heart
And she gets in my room and she takes it apart
damn, I'm thinking we need a post punk revival revival
Lief Erikson isn't nearly as compelling an emotional cut as The New was, and they should've adjusted the tracklist so that it wasn't so obvious when put side by side.
IDGAF what anyone says but losing Carlos D was the worst thing that could have possibly happened to this band
Both this album and Antics were perfect albums without a single bad song on them because of this suave emo looking motherfuckers right here and his groovy ass bass. Without him, Paul and Dan are just making noise.
The New
THIS ISN'T YOU YET
Based
emotional as fuck
The basslines are what makes TOTBL what it is
As silly as this sounds I completely agree with you. It's time to Make Rock Great Again.
The problem with the first revival was that everyone just tried to be Interpol. If it happened now there would be 1000 IDLES clones.
huh? after Carlos left they released El pintor their best album sense antics.
I'm already on it
I'll never understand why The New isn't the closer. Everything about it screams that it's the end of the album.
Nigga youre gonna tell me that album comes even close to matching up to the first 2?? You're fuckin tripping dude. Yes each subsequent album had at least one good single but the overall quality was never the same.
Come to think of it, was there really any discussion about Marauder here when it came out? I don't remember reading about it at all here. What's the consensus?
Leif Erikson is by far the best track on the album. It's a nice album but it's not even a close contender for first.
Overproduced noise with no discernible tracks. the Rover is halfway decent tho
