The whole thing is permeated by this rich boy depression that makes it fairly unbearable to my ears. It’s so fucking sappy and limp wristed for no real reason. Idk I kind of have the same problem with pet sounds, where most of the lyrics come across as a uni freshman moaning about their high school gf breaking up with them. It’s like, yeah the instrumentation on both albums is beautiful, but while listening to both I hit a point where I just want to grab the singers by the shirt and tell them to grow a pair. I dislike emo in general and CSH for these same reasons as well. I think I’m just allergic to corny moping and trite depression in music. self-pitying is something that annoys me tons in both real life and in music, I have very little patience for whiners. And I can barely stand to sit through a whole album of “ohh, partying, here’s all this glamorous imagery of a rich party lifestyle and drugs but also I’m sooooo sad for some nebulous reason”

I have no problem with depression being represented in music and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety years ago. That doesn't mean that I have to like whiny woe-is-me pathetic baby bullshit. There is literally nothing more annoying to me than a complainer and when I catch a whiff of self-pitying bullshit in music it instantly turns me off. Blonde reeks of it.
