why not just listen to the bands that inspired them and save yourself the massive boredom of the cheap copy
their Ben & Jerry's is good
Because they're great?
Especially if you like improv
DUDE ACID
Doses are fun
>90's grateful dead
no thanks
They don't sound anything like the Dead.
I think Americans don't like Phish because they must have a huge and obnoxious fanbase over there. I've never met anyone IRL who's even heard of Phish, let alone a "Phishhead" so I've never felt biased against them. They're pretty cool desu.
most based post ITT
I'm American, and I think they're pretty cool
caught a trio of shows back in july. fucking awesome
absolutely concussed
My man
Fan base is fine. Mostly 20's-50's white men with jobs who like to party and music
never miss a Sunday show
Phish fans are the only people I know that will drop their pants and take a shit on the GA floor during the middle of a set
I think that's what finally put me off of them. Listened almost non-stop for a few years but hated them after the shows. Realizing it's the fuckin trailer-trash level hippies that show up. Goddamn wooks, man.
Also, the jams all end up sounding kinda the same to me after a while.
their fans are corporate yuppies that want to pretend they are hippies but are really nothing different from Dave Matthews fratboys
Yea because having a corporate job and going to shows is terrible.
You can say that about any modern band. Why even listen to current music at all when bands that influence them are better?
Yea Forums are too socially awkward to go to concerts so they wouldn’t understand why people would enjoy it.
It took me a while to get into them. Once I read into their backstory, watched interviews, actively listened to what each person was doing in the jams (Im A MuSiCiAn), then finally went to one of Trey's shows, I was made a fan for life. At least until I get sick of them, which I hope is never.
I dunno. I respect them I guess but I dont particularly like them.
im an old fag who went to college in Boston in the late 80s and one of my classmates was their "manager" at the time. We used to see Phish at little local clubs and even then they- and their fans- bothered me- bouncing around the room and all...the trustafarians from Burlington just did nothing for me...
much preferred bad ass mutherfucking face melting improv rock and roll to dorky eclecticism

Farmhouse was a pretty groovy album. I can't get into most of the other stuff besides Billy Breathes, though.
Never heard them
fuck it, lets go all the way back to banging sticks and shrieking
OP, god bless you user.
Reality check: mu doesnt like Joyful music, so they don't like Phish. Mu doesnt like improv or anything modern psychedelic. Mu doesn't like hippies, though hipsters are just self conscious hippies stuck in the past.
Mu barely likes zappa, likes king crimson, doesnt like queen, likes Zep (low key though since its dad rock), likes Yes, doesnt like the dead, hates funk, and barely likes jazz. So most of Phish's influences are outside of mu's narrow tastes, even though Phish embraces many of the bands mu likes.
If it's not angry, depressed, edgelord trash, or whiny faux garage 60's throwback nonsense, or K-POP, mu doesnt like it. Too bad for mu, because phish has been channeling some sort of divine transmission for decades. so be it, I say
