Here is the collection of Sweet Trip's loosies and compilation appearances, including tracks from the band members' Soundclouds. Thanks nice shugazi general user!
Here is an updated chart of 2019 projects that may appeal to you, so give them a try! Good variation of sound and all recommended by someone in these threads
I'm in love with how My Dead Girlfriend sounds, what are other similar bands?
Elijah Turner
I don't know if she's a full bitch, but she is definitely reclusive and has a strong aversion to attention. She refuses to be in the spotlight, hides in the darkness at her own concerts/music videos and bans cameras and phone use. I guess she very rarely addresses crowds at all other than her lyrics too and just just kinda shows up, finishes and then immediately leaves.
A lot of japanese shoegaze has a similar sound, so check through the OP megas. I'd say Plastic Girl In Closet, Seventeen Years Old and Berlin Wall could be good starts
I like it. I’d say there’s some noise pop elements thrown in with mostly power pop
Jordan Martinez
one of the best albums of this decade, it's like 60's pop turned shoegaze and with Grouper vocals on it. cant believe no one else has talked about this
Surprisingly solid. Future Love and Jump Jet are great. An user last thread was comparing them to The Chameleons and I agree that parts of the album feel like Paper Tiger. A good comeback for the band
nah man you're good. The use of MEGA is perfectly legal. It's the content you download that could be illegal. There's always a risk with cloud storage, but MEGA has pretty good encryption. Definitely better than resorting to pirate's bay
ok on this chart there is an album called The New BP. I cannot find a proper download for it anywhere, outside of a youtube video and a single blog post about the album. If anyone knows where I could find this album it would be much appreciated, even to buy.
I thought their debut was even more mellow and psychedelic than their EPs. It is still worth a listen to specially some of the songs like chostride and fall down.
I love it actually Future Love, Jump Jet and In This Room are phenomenal and the rest is really solid as well
Landon Butler
I think that is the only place you can find the music cant find it anywhere. Your right it does have that kinda feel kinda depressed vibe and I love it.
Hey! I know nothing of shoegaze (or the other genres mentioned in the desc.) but I saw another thread saying Coldplay had made a shoegaze track, and when I listened to it I really enjoyed it. Whats are the basics for someone who has zero actual knowledge or experience with and about the genre?
Mbv, Slowdive and Ride are good starting points for shoegaze. That chart posted earlier isn't too bad. Just listen to the more well-known ones and go from there.
general tip (especially relevant for Loveless by mbv): turn the music up louder than you normally would it sounds like a meme but volume really adds to the experience of shoegaze
Bentley Allen
Absolutely
Parker Russell
Saw one in a shoegaze thread, Now I'm intrigued and want to know if there is any more.
I enjoyed this user, pretty accurate description! I've been replaying Future Love for a couple of weeks it's so good! holy shit, I used to have 'Atlantis' on my old ipod touch way before streaming days and I'd just never bothered looking up my old music, thanks, user!
hi does anyone have that pic with the girl with no makeup labeled shoegaze and the same girl with makeup labeled dream pop. not the breakfast club one. you know which one. thanks.
Can you share lol? I know what you’re talking about and I’ve been searching ever since you posted a few threads ago. Though in my search I’ve discovered a lot of other oc shoegaze memes, so it’s worth it
Huh had to look that up. I’d say try other downtempo/ambient pop like Bonobo, Moby, Goldfrapp and Bowery Electric. I’d say Bowery Electric - Beat is probably what will mix this sound the most with shoegaze out of those
Give me more alternative oriented shoegaze in vein of Catherine Wheel, Swervedriver, Hum, Starflyer 59, or just alternative rock with shoegaze sensibilities
If I had a gun to my head I would say My Bloody Valentine because I'm rather on my feet banging my head than laying on the floor staring up at the ceiling. If I someday begin to inject heroin I might change my mind.
Jaxson Evans
God damn i love this album so so much, any similar record like this?
Astrobrite has some good records but PSUB is just not one of them. Grandeur of Hair also sucks for the same reasons.
As most people here said the band that took the name ended up kind of running with it since their track record has come out way better than Astrobrite's with only one bad album against two fantastic full lengths and one of the best shoegaze EPs ever made.
Cameron Bell
the first five tracks on this are gold, especially 2 and 3. some Yea Forumstant made it, check it out
Fucking based. Finally, someone posts A Sunny day in Glasgow. yeah no. It's good. Though I do remember liking Fade into you best.
Evan Green
Explain what exactly is good about this album. I've listen to loads of albums, and this is the 3rd one I've ever outright turned off before it finished. I may try it again if you can tell me why it's good.
Its been a while so I might have to to give it a relisten. Il came back to you if I remember.
Angel Long
I love you
Jonathan Peterson
I'm right there with you user, picked this up when it released and it's one of my top albums of 2015. I still give it regular spins, would love to hear some new material.
Oh shit, I had no idea they were even still making music.
Brayden Brown
I'm trying to find this one shoegaze/noise album I listened to a while back that I've forgotten the name of. It was space themed and almost every song title had to do with same. I think there was one called "Docking" or "Prepare for docking". There's little to no lyrics in the whole album. I think it's from the mid 90's or so.
this is just like Black Tambourine but more lo-fi. Pretty good.
Aiden Young
That's it. Thanks.
Tyler Martinez
two bands that scratch the same itch for me are Ovlov and Weed, but they're more upbeat, maybe towards noise rock. if you listen to a few tunes you'll see how they remind me of Whirr. either way hope you like
That along with future love and jump jet are my favorites
Eli Wilson
Damn I noticed that too. I don’t think they promoted it or had singles even. It doesn’t seem to be on any streaming platform. Hope it’s alright
Adrian Barnes
give me something like Nothing. You know, "shoegaze" for people that don't actually like shoegaze.
Cameron Diaz
>Japanese shoegaze band comes back after extended hiatus
Color me worried as fuck. Kinoko Teikoku and Mass of Fermenting Dregs both fucking suck nowadays
Jaxson Flores
Pic related got pressed by Light in the Attic but I haven't heard anything new from them. Although they might be releasing something this year.
Asher Diaz
Try this user’s advice, I agree with him
Joshua Murphy
>or had singles even Well, they released Kiss a Girl in Black as a single 6 years ago and that's on the album.
But anyway, I listened to it now during work and it's a fucking shoegaze masterpiece. I just sat in the car with a smile during every song. It's like getting ear-raped and getting the sweetest ear-sex at the same time.
I always thought out of all the shoegaze bands that came after they got the closest to replicating Loveless' sound. Can't wait to listen to it.
Jackson Anderson
I agree. The guitar sounds very Loveless right from the get go. If you like Loveless and shoegaze in general there's honestly no reason to not like this. To me it was just fantastic. Can't recommend it enough.
Nolan Young
The first 25 seconds on Bruno have to be the coolest opening to a song I have ever heard. SOTY for me honestly.
