it'd be great if they could actually do a metal album of high on fire quality. My biggest problem with this release is it just feels like by the numbers thrash, and I was hoping for something with a bit more personality or a touch of that gizzard creativity.

Oh believe me buddy I listened to the entire thing. I actually quite enjoyed bits of sleep drifter and nuclear fusion. Microtones are just shitty gimmicks to seem interesting. Just like when a novice whisky buff takes a sip of $300 dollar whisky. The immediate reflex is to spit it out, because its overrated shit. Only instead, they grimace internally and swallows with false candor. Given a circumstance where nobody is asking about what you are consuming, you would not consume it.

Literally no one listens to this album because "Muh microtones smart" the album sounds great with great production, and it's also cool they used microtones tastefully as well. Definitely no less than an 8/10 and so far some of their finest work, listen to Open Water again and see if you spit out this '300 dollar wine' when it's actually just Jack Daniels with a fancy label and you're being a fucking contentious twat

Literally the only reason people listen to abrasive music is to seem more interesting. People with popular, austere taste in music usually have a lot more going on for them, lacking the necessity to compensate. Enjoy your microtones I guess, one of us has to.
