This is what people who listen to rap say. They know they can't defend the genre because of it's glaring flaws, so they claim it's all about "different tastes" and being "subjective".
I thought it just goes without saying that everyone has their own subjective taste in music. Is this something people (even sois) really have to point out?
They say it a lot because rap receives far more hate from rock fans than vice versa. Rappers often express their admiration for rock music and rock in general has influenced the new generation of artists very heavily. Meanwhile rock fans are actively hostile towards rap as a genre.

This is true
how do you prove that these "glaring flaws" are objectively true? to what standard?
>n-n-niggers! its the nigger music!
holy based
Only classical is better but otherwise yeah that's true because no other genre matters
*Goes back to listening to metal*
youre really still doing the onions meme user. its just sad at this point

I mean, intuitively I believe some genres are superior to others, but honestly what criteria could you come up to decide that? The only objective answer is to praise technicality or popularity, and those are both awful measures that will get you praising the most cringey music out there.

>this is not a matter of taste
>for the sake of argument one may point to extreme outliers who enjoy looking at Jackson Pollock paintings or listening to recordings of cacophonous shrieking for example
>these so-called artists are merely attempting (desperately) to appeal with novelty for novelty’s sake
>it should make you sad that consumers and producers of abhorrent pieces elect to lie to others and themselves for the sake of appearing innovative rather than working within the venerable, established genera of serious art.

traditional what idiot
I think that's because the most of the mainstream rap is absolute fucking garbage. While both genre have shit mainstream artists and shit, rap is much worse now than rock in the 70s to 90s, at least to me.
this but unironically

traditional music, also known as ethnic music, folk music, people's music, "world music", and so on
You have a two digit IQ at best.
But they would be correct if rap was music.
>You have a two digit IQ at best.
yeah you're 14
Nah if that were true and there really was "objectuvly good" music, then it would be possible to get anyone to enjoy it and yet this forum is living proof it's impossible to convince someone to enjoy anything.
The only reason people like a song is because music is a language existing below the subconscious that requires an emotional pretext to have any real effect. That's why people vehemently defend garbage, because obviously it communicated something to them you could never fathom.

I've done plenty of microanalysing of mozart pieces in college and I quite honestly hold Maurice Ravel, Tom Jobim, and Duke Ellington in a much higher regard
When you change “rap” to “[insert genre]”, you appreciate just how low effort this limp pasta is
No other genre has flaws like (c)rap does
