This makes me want to play minecraft but after building the first house the game becomes aimless and boring. Then I repeat it two months later. But those first two hours are always good.

Continuously set goals for yourself. The first few hours I look for a pretty scenery to build a house. Then I collect resources for that house. Then I use the surplus resources to extend my house or build additional buildings, maybe a shrine/church

find a small SMP server so you can make friends and work together, I remember spending a whole winter break playing on this one server and it was the comfiest ever
