Holy shit... I finally get why that one guy was shilling this for 5 days straight. Finally got around to listening to and I'm in love. Anything similar?
Shoegaze AOTYSF for me, although I've only listened to a handful. Westkust, blankenberge, SPOOL and... actually that's it. What else should I check out?

what are some other bands that have great discographies in shoegaze?
my favorites are bowery electric, a.r. kane and of course mbv and slowdive. i pray whirr's comeback album rips, i'd include them in that list too
Saw them live last night and the rat’s nest material was great. They always put on such an energetic show, definitely recommend Also, Here is a collection of Sweet Trip's loosies and compilation appearances, including tracks from the band members' Soundclouds. Thanks nice shugazi general user! >mega.nz/#F!IARWmKwZ!aOq1lE1wyUDVcTtNzl8bSw
really? that's one of the weakest songs of the album
Juan Richardson
Here are some good shoegaze albums that stray away from Loveless without giving up on the genre or becoming stagnant
>Sweet Trip - Velocity : Design : Comfort (IDM/glitch pop influence) >Lift to Experience- The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads (odd mix of post rock, Christian rock and alt-country influence) >Candy Claws - Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time (very psychedelic and tropical with an almost fantasy feel/story) >The Horrors - Primary Colors (dark post-punk/gothic rock influence) >lovesliescrushing - Xuvetyn (Slow and lethargic with influences of ambient pop, noise and ethereal wave)
My personal favorites right now are Lush, Pale Saints, Kitchens of Distinction and Blind Mr. Jones. They all have the benefit of mostly stopping in the 90s so their discographies, though pretty small, stayed solid. I don’t think any of them have a truly bad album
Leo Flores
In This Room and Eternal Recurrence are a mandatory listen.
Colton Gomez
What you listed are all very good 2019 releases. I’ve also enjoyed Be Forest -Knocturne and Knifeplay - Pearlty
>Fleeting Joys are pretty good >pretty good >pretty If I could strangle you with my bare hands, I would. Fleeting Joys are fucking amazing. youtube.com/watch?v=VuDscQBInyA
I hoping to catch them in October as well when they hit Seattle. Never have seen them live, but I’ve been told good things
Cooper Morgan
reposting cause I got to the last thread late
any good 2019 slowcore albums? kind of sick of the duster clones and want something with less of an indie tinge. Pic rel is computer dating's live album from a few weeks ago which was great but a little messy (par for the course for live records I guess)
guy in the last thread recced be corbin - mourn which I thought was pretty good, the vocals were a bit too on the emo side for me though
Kurt Vile (Wakin on a Pretty Daze), Real Estate (the first two albums, maybe Days first)
Owen Young
Is it a sin to like shoegaze, but not particularly care for Loveless?
Julian Sanders
Can confirm the new album is on the way.
Kevin Hernandez
On second thoughts, the back half of Loveless is pretty great.
Evan Sanchez
bump
Benjamin Barnes
I’d also add Destoyer - Kaputt. Not exactly like the others, but it’s a great album that puts out a similar feel
Evan Jenkins
absolutely agree lad, kill switch is my fave Lateral Alice off Weather Diaries is pretty fast paced, its a little bit more punchy
Carter Long
call me whatever but I believe that Weather Diaries only has a handful of tracks that make the cut after its release: Lannoy Point,Cali and Weather Diaries. The rest either falls short or doesn't pay off as much as their latest album, some tracks feel like filler.
However,I think that This is not a safe Place rewards more to the listener when you go front to back than WD.
Blake Foster
how does /shugazi/ feel about lush?
Jordan Lee
no but it tells everyone that you don't care for noise elements in your rock, and that might be a sin
It's either Future Love or Jump Jet for me. The latter being very reminiscent of The Chameleons (Paper Tigers specifically)
Ayden Thompson
holy shit you are right about The Chameleons. Not only Paper Tigers but I also think that the chorus is more reminiscent of A Person Isn't Safe Anywhere These Days(that title would have fit perfectly for this album by the way)
Jeremiah Jackson
One of the best shoegaze/Dream pop bands ever. Tbh they should be in everyone’s top 10
Gabriel Butler
Nice, you guys kept it alive. Really? If you're lying I will murder you. No, but I'll definitely check it out.
I think this is worth a post in /shugazi/, this guy was doing synthwave remixes so I checked out some of his original stuff and it's a fun listen, check it out. Time is Laughing at Me.
Zachary Ramirez
Some of it, as noisy and harsh as it sounds, is just very basic and uninteresting. That arguably adds to the band's cool attitude, though. They barely knew how to play their instruments, if I remember correctly. Still love Psychocandy. Played a part in actual shoegaze forming, for sure.
Cocteau Twins definitely take the win for the 80s, so much good music from Treasure's release to Blue Bell Knoll. I like that stuff more than Heaven or Las Vegas.
Justin Jackson
I think Kitchens of Distinction deserves an OG 80s shoegaze award as well. AR Kane as well for even more of a protogaze
