Im not used to covering songs but is everyone else focused on the nuances? I feel like i have ocd
Noah Butler
I can't think of any guitarists who have been able to seemingly tap into, like, a cosmic collective consciousness of music quite like Trane did, particularly when his playing would exude pure cosmic joy on the soprano sax. He was really one of a kind like that. The closest I can think of is the way Roy Buchanan could coax really powerful, dynamic emotions out of his instrument, but in a completely different, less note-heavy way than Trane.
Benjamin Long
Covering songs should be about re-imagining them if you're not an unoriginal faggot.
>He thinks his chink plank is a gibson >He thinks his mutilated dick is a vagina.
You're not an anime girl tranny
Caleb Williams
more like supreme gentleman guitars
Joshua Green
I know what you mean. I tend to try and learn all the parts that makes up the song. But the thing about covers is that you can add your own flare or spin to it.

Treble 0, bass 0.5, mids 10. This represents a flat frequency response on your average Fender tone stack.

Jason Garcia
>Mids 0 >Everything else 11
Perfect tone every time.
Blake Ramirez
Of course its about makong it yourself but theres parts of some songs that quintessentialize it and it execution must be of a certain subtlety. Take the volume swells on since weve ended as lovers. Everyone does their own take but that nuance that jeff beck gave it really is what sets it apart. How can we make a song our own and yet retain the nuances that prey upon a humand soul? For further examples look at chopin nocturnes
Try plugging 20 of them in and running them all at once.
Brandon Hughes
Do you guys do your own guitar setups? Just got one and no idea what I'm doing. Tried following some videos, still not past the truss rod adjustment. I don't think it will turn any more and I still have a slight concave bow. I don't want to break anything by forcing it. Should I loosen off my strings?
nah i'll probably just sell it and get something i'll actually use instead i really want the Free The Tone FF-1Y
Robert Martinez
I do my own setup on my guitars. It helps if you have a few basic tools. Straight edge, string height ruler, fret rocker, fret polisher.
I would suggest you take it to a luthier and get it set up professionally before you damage it. If you overturn that truss rod, that neck will be fucked.
Aiden Brooks
You're SUPPOSED to have a slight concave bow.
Connor Sullivan
>Fret your low E string (the big one) at the first fret and at the highest fret (this will obviously require two hands). Look down on the neck from above (like if you were playing) and observe the height relationship of the string with the neck and frets. When the string is held against the highest and lowest fret there should be a gap between the 12th fret and the string. If they are touching or too close to each other you probably need to put more bow in your neck to prevent fret buzz from occurring somewhere on the fingerboard. If they are too far apart you may want less bow in your neck to make it easier to play. These are truss rod adjustments. Turn it about an eighth or quarter of a turn at a time and observe what happens to this string/fret relationship. This technique is useful because it eliminates the bridge and nut (the overall string height, or action) from the equation and lets you look only at the shape of the neck. Personal preferences will differ, but most players prefer this gap at the 12th fret to be between 1/32 and 1/8 of an inch, sometimes more for bass. That 1/32 to 1/8 of an inch guideline is a pretty good one to go by.
Grayson White
I mean, maybe I should just skip the truss rod and move onto action and intonation? The intonation is definitely off. I think I'll just take it to someone. I just want to play it.
Juan Kelly
Also, truss rod adjustments should be done with the strings on and tuned to pitch.
Landon Gonzalez
The gap to me looks closer to 1/8 of an inch.
Logan Davis
You shouldn't be afraid of truss rod adjustment. You're not gonna break shit as long as you don't force it to turn when it clearly doesn't want to. What's best is for you to adjust the truss rod, play the guitar a bit up and down the whole neck, and repeat until it feels "right" to you and doesn't cause any fret buzz that's audible when plugged in with an electric, or any fret buzz period if an acoustic. Acoustic fret buzz that isn't audible plugged in isn't a problem for electrics. A luthier isn't going to know what truss rod setting feels "right" to YOU, as what feels "right" will differ from guitarist to guitarist. You need to find the right setting for you yourself through experimentation.
Joe Bonamassa is the world's most famous guitar collector as well as one of the world's finest guitarists. There is no single human being more qualified to judge a guitar's quality than Joe Bonamassa. Joe's guitar collection consists of primarily Gibson guitars. Why don't you own a Gibson, /gg/?
I dont care what it says on the headstock, sound matters more than brand, and there are great guitars for a fraction of a les paul's price, but i gotta say if i had the money id probably get an sg
Grayson Cox
Hes not much of a collector hes just obssesed with strats/tele/les paul A real collector has alot of weird looking guitars

>tfw away from my guitar for a while >living out of my car in a different state for 2 weeks to unwind Feels good fellas On another note, got a new fuzz. The analogman sunface bc109b. Already recorded some track ideas inspired by it.
And according to the boomers I know neither have their QC problems. But they still rant and rave about the few good ones.
Ryder Scott
Joe Bonamassa is a washed up old fart who I never heard of before I started playing guitar. Nobody knows about him except for guitar nerds. I assume his opinions are more or less IRL shitposting with no factual or rational basis to them.
And even if you're sort of famous, shitposting is still shitposting.
>if you put a magnet in front of a car you'd have free energy - dale earnhardt >well shit, he's famous for car stuff, better listen to him
Liam Cooper
buying guitars because of other peoples opinions is how you become that fag who has dozens of guitars but takes years until he finally gets one he actually likes
yeah, you'd think if gibsons were so great you'd only need one because it BTFO all other guitars
Landon Thompson
Audible fret buzz changes your tone anyways and makes it thinner and more metallic.
Julian Brooks
It still amazes me how this brand manages to fleece people for $500 for a distortion/fuzz/boost pedal
Elijah Martin
He seriously doesn't have an L5? whatta pleb

Definitely need to get an attenuator because i can't get past master vol 1
it's what happens when you learn circuit design from howto tutorials on the internet instead of taking an EE class in college, where they teach you crazy stuff like "a capacitor is a fucking capacitor" leaving you no room to think a vintage paper in oil capacitor is anything but degraded and out of spec so its value is now slightly different from the one on the wrapper,
Ryder Thompson
you bought the wrong amp unless you planned on making people go deaf
How did they make a solid state sound so fucking good back then? Amps today cant even compete
Oliver Rodriguez
By spending money on hours upon hours of R&D focused on making a product that sounds good.
Today most people associate solid state amps with hours upon hours of R&D focused on making them more power efficient, since energy lost as heat may damage components, especially cheaper ones in cheaper compact designs, and with longer feature lists to one up the last one since people buy them by comparing specs on the internet.
Brayden Miller
>solid state sounds soooo baaaad.... >*steps on analog effects pedal* >Yep, all analog signal chain, now that's audio! i love the distortion from my $300 overdrive pedal!
I own a 2000sth Mexican CP 60s which has awful fretwork (buzzes due to a warped neck, razor sharp ends etc.). I also own a CV Squier with immaculate fretwork, can't even feel free ends, but I don't love the feel of a Tele or a maple board.
I'm looking into getting a Mexican players strat, is the fretwork as good as CVs these days?
Bentley Wood
It appears that my amp has some kind of transistor clipping section in the preamp. Is this a common thing in valve amps? It DOES sound a bit fuzzy when the gain gets past 12 o'clock. Would it make sense to install a switch to allow a bypass of that circuit? Kinda curious to hear what it would sound like.
if you bypass it , you might cut the power for the whole thing by accident, so make sure you "see" the circuit well and know what goes where before you touch stuff
Chase Hall
Rick Neilsen of Cheap Trick reportedly has one of the best collections of anyone. He's got hundreds of guitars. Keith Richards and Jimmy Page reportedly have THOUSANDS of guitars stashed away. Bonamassa's collection is nice, but he's pure plebe compared to the real collectors.
Hudson Jackson
How long until that headstock splits? A year?
Joshua Cook
A true valve circuit (tubes) won't have transistors. I would bet your tubes have issues. What model amp?
And no, it wouldn't make sense to put a "bypass" in an amp circuit, even if you know what you're doing. Take the amp to someone and have it serviced, if you're lucky it just needs a new tube, or the existing one needs re-biasing.
Adam Phillips
go back to your shitty animu thread

>moving into bigger apartment next week >will finally have room for more than just one guitar, one bass guitar and one small guitar amp awww yeah time to get a bass amp as well as upgrade from my cube 15 what size/wattage bass combo would be suitable for a (not so large) apartment?
For the people who play live and don't have a car, how do you get amps to gigs, I have a scooter and am literally considering strapping it to the back seat so I would have my guitar and amp on my scooter.
Ryan Collins
Dont ride with the amp ,say you slip on the road, and the amp gets fucked on the way to a gig, then what? Get a ride from someone or get a taxi, if you care about your amp
Thomas King
what is the most aesthetic strat on sale right now?
I don't use an amp anymore but when I did I set the EQ to 6 6 6 because that's what Adrian Smith did on a song or two, I think.
Henry Walker
>cover hotel california >everyone at the bar turns to look at you as the solo section is about to begin >you play some step-wise motion pentatonic bullshit instead of the ABSOLUTELY ICONIC and TIMELESS solo >their faces when
I need something to boost my lead parts. I tried using an Xotic EP Booster after most of my preamp shit but I don't really like the way it boosts. I used to use a TC Spark Mini, and that was a good clean boost, but the switches failed on the two of them that I've owned and I don't want to get burned again. I just want a few more dB to boost lead parts without coloring the tone. Any suggestions?
i can play intermediate stuff but my problem is that my notes sound ugly and unclean like buzzing a little or stopping too suddenly not ringing out i don't know what to do about it i'm scared of having to completly relearn my technique
>Gibshills think they actually buy good guitars now >Gibbs-son cant even set a neck right without fucking it up Why don't you faggots play the electric guitar the way God intended and play the prophet Fenders master piece
> gassing for an edwards dc copy > "£557 including shipping from japan? not a bad deal" > work out how much it would be after taxes > £691 not including 'handling fees'

I watched some youtube videos and I noticed that people usually switch between pinky and index finger if they play fast riffs that require to move several frets However i feel kind of uncomfortable using my pinky, i can't press it hard enough so I use my ring finger instead. So far I had no problems but should I start training my pinky anyway?
Uber or car2go. I live/work downtown in my city so I normally down need a car but those two services work well whenever I need to get my shit places.
David Hernandez
Stop being a pussy and use your god damn pinky or else you'll just slow yourself down
Jose Wright
nah dont bother you dont need your pinky if it's not strong enough to fret, it's your body telling you to not use it. listen to your body.
Isaiah Collins
Gibson and Suhr are the ultimate poorfag gate keepers. If I see someone playing either brand I instantly know they’re going to be good players.
Aaron Roberts
bro I'm not only a bad player but I'm also retarded, I can't figure out making an arpeggio lmao
Jaxson Cooper
seriously? I thought they were MIJ?
Joseph Russell
No. Made in China and setup in Japan.
Zachary Jones
>poorfag >good players How does it relate?
Adam Hernandez
poor people are inherently bad at guitar, obviously.
Jaxson White
when fingering chords, do you hold the guitar with the thumb or with the picking arm? if you dont hold with either the guitar will just move and not get fretted.
Leo Jackson
It depends on the chord, you have to be flexible with thumb placement all the time. Its not about locking it in a single spot or position
Carson Bailey
my thumb hurts when doing some chords, mostly bar E and A chords
Gavin Adams
Just play the notes one after another
Connor Mitchell
You need to relax then and position the guitar better. No need to latch on
Jeremiah Davis
Why don’t you own a Gibson or a Suhr?
Leo Morgan
Hold on does your dumbass think Suhr is an Asian company?
Charles Howard
>I prefer Prs esp and Fender U wot m8
Carson Brooks
Wish Suhr would do solid color finishes. They sound and feel excellent but look extremely tacky with their colorful flame maple and natural finishes. That's too boomer for me.
Jaxson Hernandez
Working on it. Right now best I can do is Gibson's Chinese relative Epiphone
Daniel Wood
It's one of those millennial right wingers that tries too hard to be his granddad >20 year old: I aint buyin that gook shit! Give me a real fender, made in america, like the one clapton played!
Parker Nguyen
*on the modern series
Eli Howard
Theyre custom made guitars. Theres probably an application they send for you to fill in the details.
Charles Mitchell
Jackson IS Fender. So is charvel and gretsch. They just make their other guitars under other names so the middle aged fucks who make up half their customer base don't think they turned their backs on the twang and blooz.
My dad has an LP standard and he's total garbage at guitar since he only started playing when the last of his kids moved out. Anyone with a full time job can buy their dream guitar right off the bat.
Evan Taylor
Better than a millenial left winger with a danelectro kek
Nathaniel Lee
>not being a milennial centrist and playing whatever guitar you want instead of using it as part of a batshit insane image management scheme that's paramount to picking between dyed hair and cowboy boots so people know you're gay
James Butler
>flame maple and natural finishes >boomer
everyone likes those except for neo-soul hipsters, because they aren't pastel colored or minimalist enough for their tacky, maximalist wank
Benjamin Edwards
How poor are you?
Thomas Baker
I don't anchor my hand when using a pick or playing fingerstyle. I never have. It never occurred to me that I should. Is this a problem?
i ONLY make $85k a year as an IT security consultant ;_; i will never be able to afford a prized vintage les paul without feeling like an idiot for spending $40,000 on a guitar that's falling apart
those are the two most overrated brands among guitarists
solid body guitars are not difficult instruments to make well so really it's all overrated now that even gibson makes them with CNC machines
Christopher Ross
Sure thing peasant
Levi Morales
Nah man it's Bb7 with a sharp root ;)
Ryan Diaz
If you need to anchor then you suck. Anchoring is for people who dont have technique
Austin Hall
I don't know, ask the guy who's so brain damaged he thinks not liking soulless cleanwank makes someone poor
Jace Brooks
no wheelbarrowing today jcope?
Colton Martin
Classic fender single coils with the weird pole stagger sound objectively worse than ones with a modern pole stagger or rails.
P90s sound better than all of them.
David Watson
Lmao why are you so mad about your economic situation that you brought up ‘soulless cleanwank’?
Joshua Richardson
Yikes, growing up in a favela did your intelligence no favors.
Nathaniel Howard
Get a interface and an amp sim. Like the other guy said nobody wants to hear your shitty guitar playing
Mason Ramirez
All this projecting because you can’t afford a 2k guitar lmao take a break from the internet bud
Eli Johnson
kek like you do when pink suhr come down the hallway
Nolan Taylor
>State that you don't like overproduced finishes >Weirdos completely freak out Basically confirms everything I already thought about the people who enjoy that stuff
lol no I have an interface and amp sims but firing up my daw and listening through headphones or computer speakers is not as good as playing through a real amp in the room. Doesn't have to be loud, but I prefer having a physical object to play through and twist knobs on and shit. At least when practicing. I don't care if anybody can hear me. I'm not playing at retarded volumes and if neighbours hear a tiny little bit of bass everyday then tough shit.
Connor Perry
Lmao have you ever seen him talk? He's one of the most pretentious people I've ever heard
Easton Perez
I’m not jcope you fucking idiot. I own a Gibson. Please cry more about neosoul and how you can’t afford to play it lmao
Brandon Williams
>i own a gibson
post proof, zika baby
Blake Jackson
nobody cares
Jason Hall
>he’s begging I guess since jcope is gone we have to find another loser to bully.
Lmao yep tell that to the 12 year old playing smoke on the water with the les paul his parents bought him
Landon Price
fender originally did solid color finishes to hide glue lines and flaws in the wood so they could make guitars cheaper and still give off the impression that they were not shitting them out as cheaply as possible
a guitar has traditionally had a natural finish. flame maple is a little silly but looks nice with neutral colors (sorry, owners of silly red/yellow guitars). quilt maple and burl? fucking ridiculous.
Do you see tons of twelve year olds? Fucking pedos on this site, I swear. I’ve never seen a kid with a pro guitar, probably because I’m not looking to watch children.
Anyone with a full time job can buy a "pro guitar" instead of some beginner oriented junk meant to be disposed of after a year if they want to.
Leo Wood
such people are the reason there's a market for high end guitars in the first place
if only accomplished guitarists bought things better than MIABM fenders and gook metal planks then gibson would of business and only epoorphone would remain.
Robert Ramirez
cope mongrel cuck
Luke Rodriguez
Ok you got me lol down to a T. My point still stands though. Suhrs are for autistic contrarians. As with many guitar brands, people shill the expensive custom shop models while owning the shitty asian versions. Show me someone who can afford a decent Suhr and actually owns one
Asher Jackson
>suhr i dont like his headstock and their paula clone is made of okoume.
Brandon Gonzalez
good point
Asher Thompson
i want to cry all the time
Josiah Cox
Just get a Fender. There's no point in getting clone guitars
What model? Do the humbuckers sound similar to regular jag single coils?
Kayden Lopez
>jcope stopped posting Based roman still clearing the general of attention whores and tripfags one day at a time. Get rid of sam and we will be set my guy
Gabriel Foster
i dont have a project
Camden Campbell
sam it is roman´s instrument to make jcum angry, sammy is parhaps a personality.
Jose Roberts
trachefag needs to go as well
Oliver King
And the Suhr shills. Gibsonposters are classical shitposters. Hipsters need not apply
kek roman get to jcope and he rage quit on friday not me
Dylan Rivera
Suhr has no asian versions.
>contrarians I think it has more to do with corporate fender being a stick in the mud about making any improvements to some haphazardly designed shit from the 50s.
If "fender" (fender in name only) was good various "clones" wouldn't be so prolific.
James Campbell
>anchors when playing >can't pick quads at 200bpm >plays on a string gauge below 11 >he acts like a poorfag or a wallet warrior
>implying makers of inferior intstruments do not inevitably fail despite people's bad taste, and only come back later as exclusively chinese made to cash in on nostalgia
The body to my camera cost me $2000. The lenses are all over $500 used and I have 8. Not to mention filters, tripods, gimbals and sliders. Guitar is a very cheap hobby. Don’t even get me started on cars.
Jordan Gray
You've got that backwards. Anchoring is good for lead.
it really speaks about the "richfags" who think owning a $2000 gutiar makes them hot shti
Kevin Richardson
it says more about the actual poorfags who can't fathom spending more than $500 on a guitar
Evan Green
says more about you buying a nigson with a dry fretboard and yet you still can't play for shit
Bentley White
If a $2000 guitar is a lot of money to a person it makes me wonder what kind of car they drive if one at all.
Tyler Barnes
I own an Epi
Elijah Cox
I thought road worn was a meme but fuck me are those guitars ever comfortable to play. I heard they are discontinued and I'm struggling not to buy one.
Tyler Garcia
Im so sorry
Christopher Taylor
ok
Jonathan Scott
Itt: autistic cope
Justin Hall
Same EPis aren't that bad though
Brayden Walker
Self-hatred is getting you nowhere, user.
Sebastian Foster
jcope isnt here tho
David Lopez
It depends. But yeah they can have some decent one. Its easier to just get a tokai love rock and expect somethibg decent instead of searching around for the right epi.
Buy a new guitar, go outside, and rub it on the tarmac for 20 minutes. Fender don't want you to know this trick.
Lincoln Morris
Kinda. It was my first guitar
Cameron Lopez
found him
Lucas Turner
Ive been here. You just equate no (you)s to me being absent because you cant fathom it. The hrt is getting to you

Alls I know is I remember Ted saying he anchors where his guitars are worn for rhythm guitar like on Stranglehold. I suppose you're a more accomplished, successful guitarist than Ted Nugent, though.
Wyatt Myers
its mostly the neck, dont care for the body as much
Dominic Garcia
I thought you were too scared to duel pink suhr so you ran away
Parker Baker
You live in an airport? I really hope this is bait
Austin Hill
Member when you got scared of pink suhr in front of the whole school?
Ayden Gutierrez
>he been hiding from pink suhr kek you really are a pussy
You dont call earl grey boiled chink leaves with bergamot because even though iys what it is you have a more modern term for it. Get ahead while you can learn american english. The non obsolete version of english.
Wyatt Gonzalez
I wonder who has this much cope laying around that would post such a thing
Thomas Murphy
bass amp with less than 100w sounds like farts so get a 100w, you can use it in a gig with 0 problems. For guitar it depends, a 10w tube amp can be very loud for an apartment already but if you want something that only comes in bigger size get an attenuator
Eli Russell
dude just buy an original precbs strat for 25k dollaridoos lmao
Dylan Martinez
>defending trannies Id tell you to kys but statistically speaking you probably will anyways.
Grayson Edwards
>jcope back earning his name again it doesn't get any better than this lads
sam is the one who finally got to him to. imagine sam baiting you
Carson Martinez
Is Samuel officially above jcum in the official /gg/ power rankings now?
Nicholas Hill
G&L was the company Leo Fender started after he left Fender you dumb nigger.
Cooper Garcia
>beats jcope in three guitar duels >baits jcope into coming out of his locker >owns a nicer les paul than jcope the answer is yes i think
Levi Brown
Sammy has his fans whereas jcum has none. Intellectuals such as myself understand that one cannot exist without the other. How can you have punch & judy without mr punch?
