Hey Yea Forums, I'm running into a bit of a musical change. I'm a long time listener of metal( and all the various sub-genres). However, recently I've been starting to delve into baroque, classical, and Victorian era music. I've begun to appreciate it so much that I love not only the music, but the clothing style of the era's. Is this just me getting older or am I experiencing a shift in taste. To make matters more difficult, I can't even listen to or appreciate metal much anymore. Seriously confused right now.

i mean i don't know about dressing like you're from the 1700s or whatever but getting older and shifting musical tastes are two things that go hand in hand. be glad that you have a whole new world of music to explore, my man

How old are you? Its pretty uncommon for people older than early 20s to radically change tastes like this. Either way I think it means you've matured, congrats. I'm not into classical myself honestly but it offers far more harmonic depth and tonalities than metal ever could.
Also if you now enjoy classical alot, then no need to let not enjoying metal anymore bother you.

Idk, the inability to listen to metal might be a temporary thing since you're getting into classical. I think with time the nostalgia will kick in and you'll re-appreciate your favorite metal albums from years past. If anything, what you'll learn from classical over the next couple of years might make you more discerning and picky in regards to metal. And you'll probably seek out and enjoy metal that sounds more technically advanced to you.
Classical kind of ruined most rock and edm for me for a few years, but i've gradually come back to enjoy my old favorites from those genres and discover some new ones. It feels permanent, but it's more likely sort of a phase.

once you take the classicpill, everything will else will start to sound shit compared to it

I hope so. I do still like metal, but not as much. Hopefully in time I'll be able to appreciate both equally.

Damn, how many pills are there?

>how many pills are there
Too many, anything could ruin a style of music for you. Its generally a good thing. Finding music ever closer to your actual tastes prevents you from getting sick of music as a whole.

cool blogpost bro

Perhaps you will find a musical piece or artist that blends classical elements and metal elements and you will fall in love with it.

I've been down a similar path.

Not op but Ive found that any attempts on the metal end to have classical elements have all sucked hard. How about classicals attempts to be heavier? Is that any good?

You're trans; You need to take hormones right away.

I don't listen to metal but Bartok's 4 is often presented as something that would appeal to people who like metal.

I've been listening to alot of Art Zoyd and Univers Zero lately so thats exactly the type of classical Im looking for. What would i search up to find more like this?

The rest of that string quartet and Bartok's others. Ligeti's 2 string quartets, I suppose.
Here is 5:
