Okay for any thrash experts, what are the best bands for someone who holds vocals in a higher priority? I just can't get into bands like Dark Angel and Exodus because of the singers. And I love Dave Mustaine, so it's not that I expect everyone to be Bruce Dickinson or something.

First and foremost, metal is about the R I F F S.

That being said, Metallica is my favorite of the "big four" thrash bands. If you don't like Exodus because of the vocals, there's no way in hell you would enjoy something like Morbid Saint or Demolition Hammer. They scream and shout a lot.

>I just can't get into bands like Dark Angel and Exodus because of the singers
You mean that they’re bad at singing or you think they have gruff voices? Either way that’s pretty par for the course for thrash metal. Vocals are a secondary concern to the genre.

who /blackened/ here

Riffs are great but when a tone def cat is shout-talking off beat in a frantic way it can really be distracting to me. I think all of the big four have acceptable vocals.
Bad at singing. I oddly enough, do not have this problem with old school death metal at all...which has more bands I listen to than thrash. I don't think it needs to sound clean, it can be harsh or aggro, it just needs to sound good, have rhythm if not melody, and be complimentary to the music.

Annihilator, Forbidden, Holy Terror (really more of a speed metal band but Megadeth kind of are too)

Oh and Nuclear Assault, but it seems like misinterpreted what you were saying. I was just listing bands with clean(er) singing.

Heathen sounds like Metallica with Bruce Dickinson on vocals. That's the only way I know how to describe them.

C O R O N E R

Based, wish TC did more breakneck stuff like this and the Tuno Ido Tarlat opener, Meta was supposed to be the "heavy" album and it was a real disappointment imo

Thrash nor King Gizzard are good. People are only pushing this album to get (you)s

I prefer clean singing but obviously don't mind when it's not as long as it's good. I would hardly even call Tom Araya a "singer" most of the time, but his vocals serve a sort of syncopated rhythm that makes sense. Also Annihilator and Forbidden are bands I like, never heard Holy Terror, will check.
Will check
Know of Nuclear Assault but actually don't think I ever listened to a whole album by them and if I ever did I don't remember it, will give them some more looking into as well.

Voivod bangs and there isn’t anything wrong with their album covers

>shout-talking off beat in a frantic way
I like the frenetic shouting in thrash, feels like it fits with the energy of the music. But I can see how that would be off-putting to a new listener.

I'm not 13 anymore

Good, so I guess you don't listen to indie rock, pop, hip hop, or alternative rock then huh?

Pat Lind from Morbid Saint is the definitive thrash vocalist. Guy sounds like a literal demon on speed.

But that type of vocals fits the thrash perfectly, just that it doesn't appeal to you.

Who complains about their album covers?

blackfuture

Sadus is underrated, Swallowed in Black is fucking insane.

If you say so, I'm looking for music that does appeal to me though. Which would include a vocalist who can sing, scream, grow, whatever with a level of talent and musical ability enough to stay on beat.

Ironic how you like Mustaine.

why isnt sodom on the thrash album list

Here's some 10/10 able-bodied cisscum heteronormative patriarchal racist sounding riffs

That isn't the official /meal/ chart for thrash. But to answer your question, Sodom's there.

It is weird, but desu despite Mustaine seeming grating to some, he never sounds like an amateur to me....he's whiny and nasally, but he still manages to sound good in my opinion even in a melodic sense.

Then both of us have differing opinions on thrash vocals since Mustaine is of the weaker sort ot me and sounds like a cat that was ran over by a car desperately clinging to his life, and not in a good way. I don't know why you can't dig Baloff or Rinehart, but to each his own.

best toxik album coming through

Some of these album covers are laughable, I had to look up a few just to confirm they were genuine.

Lighten up buddy. It's just music

>think "man 2019 has been a shit dead slow year for music I've liked maybe 3 albums the whole time"
>ad for new King Gizzard
>it's actually a Metallica album
what the fuck is happening

The best vocalist in the history of Thrash was in Razor. Listen to Violent Restitution.

dave mustaine has an excellent voice for his work, i dont think you would like thrash much besides some Metallica, megadeath and maybe anthrax
