yeah that was fucking boring
Full on prog Opeth is such a weird thing. It's never outright bad, just lacking that something that makes one want to come back to it. I can count on a single hand the number of times I've listened to their last 3 albums a piece.
Heritage and Pale Communion were good imo, but so far what they've put after that it's forgettable. I can't even remember if I listened to Sorceress. Axenrot has progressed as a drummer though, kinda crazy to think he's mostly known as a death metal drummer.
Still my favourite album
based.
old opeth is best opeth
These singles got me to revisit Morningrise. Not gonna lie, a bit overwrought in spots but it's damn good when it hits the mark. Need to give Orchid and Still Life another spin sometime as well.

morningrise is one of my favorites, have it on vinyl
Watershed is my favorite Opeth album so I'm okay with this.
But Watershed had a bunch of metal in it?
Orchid, Morningrise, and My Arms Your Hearse weren't perfect, but they were pretty damn close.
This is more typically boring prog Opeth. Best non-metal they will ever do is Damnation.
Opeth has always been meh
>Best non-metal they will ever do is Damnation.
Yeah, that really does put a damper on their whole 10s output, doesn't it? It's not bad but Damnation just did it so much better.
Love the new track, I just wish I knew Swedish. Also the video's art direction looks exactly like Soen's 'Lotus' video.
>pleb.
What would do you suggest instead?
Their new stuff doesn't sound anything like Damnation LOL

You don't know?

Just listen to it. You'll like it.
Check out the tracks The Lotus Eater and Hessian Peel, Watershed is masterpiece material.
Ghost Reveries is the best IMO.

lol nice try, prog is fun but most people wouldn't know good prog if it fisted them up the ass.
Based. Orchid is also my favourite.
I like it, a little more than the first one, but I still wish it was Steven Wilson the one to do the audio mixing.
